This semi-detached cottage boasts a spectacular position nestled into the bay overlooking Loch Carron with Slumbay island on the doorstep. Within walking distance are various local amenities or use Lochcarron as an excellent base to tour further afield.
Relax and take in the surrounding in the garden or cosy up by the fire in the living room.
The space
This traditional Highland cottage, built in the 1800s, is bursting with character and is a peaceful and comfortable haven to wind down in. It is semi-detached with its own private entrance (the middle red door in the main picture). My daughter and her partner stay in the house next door (on the left) and you would be sharing a freezer and laundry facilities in the shed (the door on the far right) and spacious enclosed garden with them and their cat Ruadh.
Outside there are benches and outdoor furniture for you to relax on. Inside there are two floors.
Downstairs there is a comfortable living room with TV, open coal fire and dining table that can be extended if you need more space for dining, working or playing board games. There is a well equipped galley kitchen with fridge, microwave and freestanding cooker. There are also plenty of utensils and crockery provided for home cooking. A door off the kitchen leads to a new shower room.
Upstairs has a double bedroom with storage and stunning views over the loch. Also, there is a toilet upstairs in a bathroom with a small traditional bath. There is total control electric heating throughout the house and a coal fire to keep cosy. The Wifi code will be provided on arrival.
Sorry we cannot accommodate any pets.
Maximum 2 guests, however a baby would be welcomed and a travel cot can be provided
This is a much loved family cottage and we hope you treat it as your home away from home and adore the location as much as we do.
Guest access
Guests have access to their entire house as well as the laundry shed and the garden, including washing line. The black shed and wood stores are private.
Other things to note
Saturday to Saturday bookings usually but we can be flexible .
- "The cottage is very cosy. The view from the front windows are breathtaking. 'Like living in a postcard'. There is a good comfy bed. I cannot comment on the twin beds in the downstairs back bedroom. The kitchen is small but well appointed. The freezer, washing machine and dryer are in a separate room and shared with the house next door. This was not a problem. The bathroom is perfectly functional with a small bath and no overhead shower. All in all my wife and I enjoyed our stay, ably supported by our host Maire."

Just moments from the peaceful shores of Lochcarron the cottage offers an idyllic setting for your visit to the Highlands, making a perfect base for touring or just relaxing. The traditional terraced highland cottage provides spacious accommodation on a single level for up to 4 people. The layout makes it a comfortable home from home with oil-fired central heating, modern kitchen, a comfortable sitting/dining room and free WiFi. There is a quiet private garden reached by a flight of steps at the rear of the cottage making a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the evening sun. The utility room provides plenty of space for hanging outdoor kit whilst the front vestibule provides more coat hanging and room for golf clubs/fishing rods and other essentials.
The village facilities are all within an easy walk and include a Spar Shop for everyday supplies, Lochcarron Garage for fuel on the doorstep (always of benefit in the highlands) and eating out at one of the three popular restaurants; there are also other hotels and restaurants in the near vicinity of Lochcarron as well as in surrounding villages such as Kishorn, Applecross, Shieldaig and Strathcarron.
The local area provides outstanding opportunities for seeing the highlands at their best including the fabulous scenery and wildlife. The local walks suit all abilities and if you would like some local assistance then guided walks and sea tours are available. Alternatively a quiet exploration of the long established Attadale Estate Gardens with its sculpture collection and historic rhododendron collection makes a worthwhile afternoon outing. Whilst in the highlands it is also fun to watch a local game of Shinty and cheer on the local Lochcarron team. Golf is of course available with a 9 hole course on the Loch shore providing stunning views, there is also a pleasant tea room for refreshments afterwards.

- "Beautifully decorated cottage, with a very comfortable, homey feeling set in an amazingly beautiful area near the Isle of Skye in Northwest Scotland. Everything was handled in a most professional and cordial manner from start to finish regarding the rental of and our stay in the West Bothy at Attadale Estate. I stayed at the cottage for a week with two teenage daughters and we enjoyed it very much. The kitchen was fully stocked with a nice assortment of everything you could need to prepare meals and there is even a caterer on the estate who will prepare home cooked meals to be picked up or brought to your cottage. Everything from homemade bread to natural, healthy pizza! We enjoyed sitting around the wood fire in the evenings watching BBC historical dramas on the DVD player. Since we are from America we thought that was as British as we could get! The Attadale gardens were amazing in their Fall colors...made some great photos. We hope to return in the future!"

Park House is a restored traditional croft house with beautiful views across the loch, a haven of peace and tranquillity, enclosed in a large pretty garden. It is conveniently situated for touring with Applecross (and its award winning seafood restaurant) a short exhilarating drive away over the Bealach, Britains highest road pass. Visits to Plockton, Eilean Donan Castle Skye and Torridon make very enjoyable days out. It is a hill walkers paradise with 22 Munros in the area. There are lots of gentle relaxing walks from the house. There is a slipway for canoeing and kayaking half away at North Strome and other outdoor activities include cycling, fishing, sailing and there is a nine hole golf course nearby.
- "We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Park House. We were in town for the Celtman Race for the week; the place was quiet and relaxing for prerace jitters. Scenery was beautiful and there was a castle ruin less than a mile from property; everyone enjoyed walking and touring it. It was unseasonably hot when we visited; and a couple of fans at night remedied that. If I ever get the opportunity to come back and visit the Highlands we will definitely try and secure a stay here. Thanks Patricia for working with us on our dates."
