Our family croft house near Morar. Sleeps 6.
The house has been extensively refurbished with a fully fitted Kitchen/Diner, Living Room with Log Burning fire and Cloakroom, Upstairs - Three Bedrooms and Family Bathroom (Shower over Bath).
The area is outstandingly beautiful with stunning views overlooking Loch Morar and a perfect base for exploring the Islands as well as hillwalking, fishing, whale watching and the Harry Potter train.
- "Absolutely beautiful lodgings in this beautiful part of the world. Meticulous attention to high spec equipment at home. Very clean very tidy" - "Beautiful location, off the beaten track but short drive to shops & civilisation at Mallaig. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture in a warm and well refurbished cottage. Marion was super helpful and responsive. Couldn’t be happier that I found this little gem. Highly recommended." - "The house itself looked pleasant enough and well maintained from the outside. It is well away from the nearest other houses - all out of sight, giving the impression of complete isolation. Sheep graze the fields leading up to the house from the road and a small stream provides background sound. Otherwise there is complete silence. Inside it is well furnished with good quality modern furniture and fittings. The house was well heated and excellently equipped with every possible piece of equipment/tools/kitchen utensils/laundry and dishwasher needed to enjoy our stay. Surplus dry food, pasta etc and bottles of cooking sauce and more were available although not needed for our short stay. The location of the property is awesome. We were spoiled by a few days of bright autumn sunshine which provided views to the horizon and beyond, with snow capped mountains around us. Access to the main road to Mallaig/Fort William is easy enough along a single track road along the Loch, allowing a rapid dash to catch the ferry to Skye. Visitors should take the trouble to abandon the modern main road and use the old coast road to see the best of the fabulous beaches, especially at sunset when the sun sinks behind the islands to the west. Behind the house, the hills rise and provide fairly easy climbing to the plateau overlooking the house and Loch Morar to the south, the sea with the small Isles and Skye to the west and further hills stretching away to the north - wonderful jaw droppingly beautiful views in the clear air. Mountain-top snowball fights in the sunshine in October were an unexpected bonus. In icy conditions some care may be required to navigate the last few hundred yards of the road where there is a bit of a hill and the drive up to the house. Fortunately any snow at ground level had melted away within a few hours. I did not recall seeing mention in the property description of the 3rd bedroom having bunk beds. Fortunately the younger children were able to use them without problems. Some families with older children may find this more of an issue. Apologies if I missed that detail. Overall a wonderful stay in a lovely property. "
