Guest Reviews:

- "Absolutely beautiful lodgings in this beautiful part of the world. Meticulous attention to high spec equipment at home. Very clean very tidy" - "Beautiful location, off the beaten track but short drive to shops & civilisation at Mallaig. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture in a warm and well refurbished cottage. Marion was super helpful and responsive. Couldn’t be happier that I found this little gem. Highly recommended." - "The house itself looked pleasant enough and well maintained from the outside. It is well away from the nearest other houses - all out of sight, giving the impression of complete isolation. Sheep graze the fields leading up to the house from the road and a small stream provides background sound. Otherwise there is complete silence. Inside it is well furnished with good quality modern furniture and fittings. The house was well heated and excellently equipped with every possible piece of equipment/tools/kitchen utensils/laundry and dishwasher needed to enjoy our stay. Surplus dry food, pasta etc and bottles of cooking sauce and more were available although not needed for our short stay. The location of the property is awesome. We were spoiled by a few days of bright autumn sunshine which provided views to the horizon and beyond, with snow capped mountains around us. Access to the main road to Mallaig/Fort William is easy enough along a single track road along the Loch, allowing a rapid dash to catch the ferry to Skye. Visitors should take the trouble to abandon the modern main road and use the old coast road to see the best of the fabulous beaches, especially at sunset when the sun sinks behind the islands to the west. Behind the house, the hills rise and provide fairly easy climbing to the plateau overlooking the house and Loch Morar to the south, the sea with the small Isles and Skye to the west and further hills stretching away to the north - wonderful jaw droppingly beautiful views in the clear air. Mountain-top snowball fights in the sunshine in October were an unexpected bonus. In icy conditions some care may be required to navigate the last few hundred yards of the road where there is a bit of a hill and the drive up to the house. Fortunately any snow at ground level had melted away within a few hours. I did not recall seeing mention in the property description of the 3rd bedroom having bunk beds. Fortunately the younger children were able to use them without problems. Some families with older children may find this more of an issue. Apologies if I missed that detail. Overall a wonderful stay in a lovely property. "

House
Highland Council

Relax off grid without compromising on your home comforts and luxuries. Imagine....no distractions from tv’s or mobiles. Enjoy the stunning scenery and peace of the outdoors. What takes your fancy...sitting on the decking with a good book taking in the stunning view of Loch Morar, popping on your walking boots and taking to the nearby hills or jumping in the car for a short 10 minute drive to the famous Morar Silver Sands or the stunning Camusdaroch beaches...the choice is yours!

The space
Our little pod sleeps 2 on a super comfy double bed with an en suite bathroom which includes a full sized shower (with shampoo, conditioner and body wash), toilet, sink and towel rail. The kitchen has a 2 ring induction hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, Belfast sink and solid oak worktops.

**Please note the pod sleeps 2 guests, infants/under 2’s can not be added as an extra as this would change a booking to 3 guests. **

Bedding and towels are provided.

The pod is kept nice and cosy with underfloor heating.

Outside there is a private decking area with seating with a small table and a BBQ (charcoal not supplied).

Please be aware we do not have a tv, 4G or phone network inside or outside out pod. This can be accessed around 2 miles down the road on the way into Morar.

We have Starlink internet installed at our home after struggling for years with poor wifi strengths. This has made a huge difference and provides the pod with WiFi with the help of internal boosters.

The pod is situated in our grounds/garden so are available for any help/advice, however this does not impact on your privacy.

The pod is around a 15 minute car journey to the local villages of Arisaig and Mallaig.

Guest access
Due to the location of the pod it will not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

To get to our pod you have to drive approximately 2.5 miles up a single track road.

Check in from 4pm
Check out 10am

Other things to note
To get to Bracara Glamping Pod you drive up a single track road for approximately 2 and a half miles. Our location is very quiet with only a few houses around us. We are next door to the pod for any queries however this doesn’t impact on your privacy.

We are approximately a 5 minute drive from Morar village and a 15 minute drive away from Mallaig and Arisaig.

Our nearest shop is a 15 minute drive away so having your own transport is essential.

Please be aware there is no 4G or mobile network in the pod or the area outside. The nearest this is located is approximately 2 miles down the road on the way to Morar village.

We have recently installed Starlink at our home and this provides the pod with WiFi with the help of internal boosters. This is all relatively new (March 2023) so will hopefully make a big difference for the pod and ourselves as we’ve struggled for many years with poor signal strength.

Unfortunately we do not accept pets as we are situated and surrounded by Croft land so please be aware of working dogs (which are supervised). If you or any of your party is scared of dogs please let me know before your trip.

Quiet family home by Loch Morar
House
Highland Council

A warm Highland welcome awaits you at this semi-detached holiday property, enjoying a tranquil setting in a small residential cul-de-sac beside Loch Morar. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway with stunning surroundings, this unpretentious, comfortable home offers a perfect base for families to explore the natural beauty and magnificence of Lochaber. Easy access to gorgeous white sandy beaches , boat trips to the Small Isles, local walks and outdoor adventures. STL Licence # HI-40506-F

The space
This property is a simple semi-detached family home built as a dormer construction in the 1970s. It is part of a very small, quiet loch-side residential cul-de-sac and suits families or groups of responsible adults looking for a comfortable, but modest base for exploring the beautiful Morar Peninsula.
The property has a small garden which is fairly rough - a future project for us - and it is surrounded by ranch fencing with a short gated drive. The drive is quite narrow and the gates open inwards so they have to remain open once a car is in situ. The rough ground and the unsecured driveway means the outside of the property is unsuitable for children or dogs to play unsupervised.
Entry to the house is normally via the back door which leads into a small porch. This houses a boot rack, washing machine, tumble drier, under-counter freezer and a small overflow fridge.
From the porch, a door takes you into the kitchen diner which contains an under-counter fridge, microwave, halogen hob, electric double oven and a dishwasher. Dining can accommodate up to six and a highchair can be provided if requested at the time of booking.
From the kitchen, a hallway leads to the front door and stairs. Leading off the hallway is the living room which has a smart TV (streaming services only), DVD player and an electric fire to supplement the storage heating on cooler days. Also provided in the living room is a generous selection of books, board games and DVDs.
At the foot of the stairs is a small cloakroom with an electric shower, vanity handbasin and toilet. Opening off the hallway beside the cloakroom is bedroom 3 which has twin single beds with wooden frames.
Upstairs, the landing leads to a shower room and bedrooms 1 and 2. The shower room has an electric shower, wash handbasin and toilet. Bedroom 1 contains a standard double divan bed and bedroom 2 contains two single divan beds. A travel cot can be provided if requested at the time of booking.
The property has full double-glazing and is heated in the living room, kitchen, hallway and landing via storage heaters. The bedrooms have wall-mounted, manually operated convector heaters, and electric blankets are provided on all beds for guest comfort. If you have any questions at all about what else you might expect from your stay, please review the other details to note section or send us a message. You can see a ground plan showing the layout of the house in the photos section.
This house is licenced under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 and has been granted Short Term Let Licence number HI-40506-F until 22 May 2027.

Other things to note
Phone reception here can be very patchy. Waving your mobile around on the landing can sometimes work but it varies depending on your network. You may need to wander down to the side of the road opposite the cul-de-sac to pick up/send texts and probably go further afield to take calls. However, wi-fi is provided, so all web-based apps work.
As a guest staying at this property, we will ask you in our booking communications with you to please assist us by putting the requisite bin out kerbside on collection day. This will only affect you if you are staying overnight on a Monday - the bin collection day is Tuesday from 7am. We provide full details of the bin collection schedule at the property and details on what is involved. This is not likely to differ much from the arrangements for waste separation and collection that you have in your own home if you are a resident of the UK. We hope that you are happy to cooperate with us on this. Please message if you have any queries.
The property is surrounded by a ranch fence and the driveway is gated but the gates have to remain open when a vehicle is parked on the drive. Please note therefore that the garden area is not suitable for unsupervised children or pets. The garden has areas of rough ground and care should be taken if walking around the area.
An EV charging facility is installed but requires users to provide their own charging cable (minimum 7m). An additional charge per night will apply. Please request details when sending in your booking enquiry.
This is a simple home, not snazzy or in any way extravagant. It is, first and foremost, a beloved family home - a place where joyous memories have been made. We have aimed to make it a pleasant and comfortable place to base yourselves whilst you explore the glories of the Morar Peninsular and we hope that it brings you a little of the joy it has brought us over the years.
