The cottage is very comfortable with all mod cons." - "This is actually a review for the owners other property, Inverherive Cottage (we enquired about this property but it wasn't available so the owner offered us Inverherive instead- it can be found on her website by searching). I'm sure the overall experience will be similar. Our 4 requirements are: cosiness, comfy beds, good showers and cleanliness. Inverherive ticked all 4. In addition, the location was fab, and the darkness and quietness at night was pure bliss. Rena was always quick to respond to querys. We wouldn't hesitate to use Inverherive again, or any of Rena's other properties."

Having recently undergone a full internal refurbishment Otter is without doubt one of the outstanding 2 bedroom chalets available on the Portnellan Estate.
Relax within an open plan living space and a comfy L shaped sofa and arm chair. A walnut effect wooden flooring leads to a galley kitchen with recently refurbished units. All walls throughout are decorated in Farrow and Ball colours with all new soft furnishings throughout. A bathroom with shower over, heated towel rail. Two bedrooms, one king-size double and one twin.
From the open plan living, dining and kitchen area a sliding patio door opens onto your private balcony with garden furniture (BBQ is available to hire £25 per stay) With an unrestricted view to the summit of Ben More and the cascading Ben More burn less than 30 metres from the private balcony, Otter is one of our most secluded chalets. It is often commented by guests that Otter is a very peaceful and relaxing property. It is not uncommon to see nobody apart from me occasionally walking up to check upon the private water supply on Ben More burn that supplies Portnellan. Otter's situation is also known for the abundance of bird life and animals including red squirrel, deer and Pinemarten.
The Portnellan Estate has been privately owned by the same family for over 40 years and offers fantastic facilities to include fresh run salmon and trout fishing on the estate lochs and river, plenty of cycling on and off road for all abilities. There are kayaks, paddle boards and rowing boats on the river and lochs and a games room offering a pool table, table tennis and table football as well as a wee gym. A wee visitors centre offers you th use of a DVD library, a selection of board games as well as local produce for sale to include honey, a range of hand made candles, eggs from our ducks on the estate and organic meat products fresh from a farm locally, perfect for the BBQ or home cooking.
Situated in the heart of the central Highlands of Scotland with spectacular loch, glen and mountain views all around Otter's setting is magnificent where a true highland landscape awaits you and it is often complimented on the abundance of bird and wild life that can be regularly seen.
Portnellan Estate is the perfect base for exploring Central/West Scotland with known landmarks only a short distance away. Glen Coe and all it beholds is less than 40 mins drive and the bonnie shores of Loch Lomond are 20 mins by car. Other areas include the truly beautiful Glen Lyon and Loch Tay, Glen Etive, Glen Lochay and Glen Orchy all within the local area.

Gamekeeper offers a wonderful self catering chalet accommodation sleeping up to 6 people within 3 bedrooms, bathroom, an open plan living, dining, kitchen area and a large fully enclosed decking to the front of the chalet.
Having recently undergone a refurbishment in an 'Alpine' theme with subtle Highland touches Gamekeeper has been designed to put you in touch with being in a timber chalet within the great outdoors. Many guests have commented how much they look forward to simply lazying around the Gamekeeper chalet or returning to a warm and cosy chalet after a full day in the outdoors. A testament to the detail and care put into the internal design, features and facilities on offer.
Apart from looking sensational with the use and subtle features of natural wood effect through to the tweeds and fabrics of the soft furnishings all contributing to the flow and connection the interior of the chalet has with the nature and biodiversity of the great outdoors which is on your doorstep. From the styled 'Pasedena' pine styled kitchen, to the light pine wood flooring to the etched Highland scene on the glass interior door we hope you will be impressed by the attention to detail.
Comprising of 3 bedrooms the configuration is a king sized double and 2 twin bedrooms all fully carpeted with light pine wall covering rising behind the beds and handmade fitted wardrobes and vanity area complete with internal sensor lighting. A holiday would not be a holiday without a good nights sleep and this has not been over looked. All beds are hotel grade, 2000 spring pocket sprung with Cashmere top covered with sumptuous duvets and pillows all covered in Egyptian Cotton bed linen.
The bathroom is fully tiled in Rainforest White with a deep composite Carron bath with overhead shower. All fittings are the premium brand Hans Grohe.
A fully fitted Pasedena pine styled kitchen with aluminium carcass lining and all Bosch modern appliances including built in mid height double oven and microwave, a ceramic hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and larder fridge/freezer. Furthermore, a day in the great outdoors can lead to clothing and footwear needing dried so leading from the kitchen is a heated boot and coat cupboard.
The living layout is fully open plan with light pine wood effect flooring and a deep L shaped living room suite with arm chair. A wall mounted LCD TV with freeview SKY and Blu Ray DVD.
Not that you will need a television to watch as you can gaze through the sliding patio door and your breath will be taken away by the stunning views all around you. Gamekeeper commands a high hillside position on the Portnellan Estate with sensational views across Glen Dochart, Loch Iubhair (pronounced Ewar) and the dramatic and rugged mountains. You can be at one with nature and marvel at the scenery from the safety and comfort of a brand new fully enclosed decking and garden furniture.

There is even an onsite visitor centre with a small essentials shop, fresh organic meat from a farm locally for sale (perfect for a BBQ or home cooking), Lucy's ready made meals (should you not wish to cook of an evening), local information, a varied selection of board games and DVDs.

It is not unusual to see the deer meandering off the hill and passing nearby the property.

"A really great base for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland, and lots to keep the family occupied, from canoes and bikes, to games and DVD's. Lodge very clean, well maintained and equipped, and with plenty of its own space. The loch and mountain views, the peace and restfulness of the place, even the purity of the tap water, all make you want to stay. Review posted 13th August."
"My daughter rented two cottages at Portnellan for the celebration of her 21st birthday. We had no idea what to expect before we arrived, and we had travelled from the United States to attend her birthday. The magic of Portnellan added to the magic of seeing my daughter turn 21. What a beautiful location, and the cottages were lovely vacation homes with everything we could need."
"Everyone had a terrific time, the young ones and us old-timers! Thank you to the gracious staff (namely Cameron's family.) You made us feel welcome and made her celebration a delight!"
"I highly recommend these cottages for anyone who loves a magical place to sleep and roam in one of the most magical places I've ever been! Review posted 14th August."
"Outstanding as usual. A warm welcome from Cameron and family. Spotlessly clean lodge , stunning scenery and great touring base. Would recommend this to anyone looking for luxury self catering in Scotland. Review posted 12th August"
