Stunning, Secluded, Sea View Cottage
Cottage
Highland Council

Samadalan is located in one of the most spectacular coastal locations on Knoydart, boasting stunning views over the Sound of Sleat to the Cuillins of Skye and beyond. Described as the last wilderness in the UK, Knoydart is only accessible by passenger ferry from Mallaig (unable to take vehicles), leaving the dramatic, rugged landscapes unspoiled and gloriously beautiful. Samadalan sits alone at the end of the coastal road making it one of the most secluded, special spots on the peninsula.

The space
Your self-catering cottage consists of a bright kitchen/living room area, a shower room and a master bedroom. Both rooms have fantastic sea views across to the Isle of Skye.

The primary energy supply for the entire property (including our residence next door) runs entirely off-grid from a private hydro generator and solar panels connected to a battery bank. The let also has a wood burning stove to warm the cottage and heat up the water as back-up.

The kitchen is always stocked with cooking oil, basic seasonings, tea and coffee. We advise that if you wish for your stay to be completely self-catered that you buy your groceries in Mallaig or elsewhere prior to boarding your ferry. There is a small shop on the peninsula however the stock is fairly limited to essentials and is generally more expensive.

The western coast of Knoydart has a reliable 4G mobile connection and in addition to this there is good wi-fi coverage at the property.

Getting around - IMPORTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING
You can only reach Knoydart peninsula by passenger ferry (no cars). There are regular daily sailings from Mallaig to Inverie (Knoydart) and back. Please internet search the local ferry service 'Western Isle Cruises' to book your sailings. Samadalan is a 7 mile drive to the very end of the western coastal road.
