- "We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable and the welcome pack was a nice touch. It was very good value for 4 of us each having our own room and the view was great and I would definitely return." - "We had a wonderful time at this location. Unfortunately because of airline cancelations, we lost one of our planned days. However, the hosts were most gracious and took the extra mile to make sure all our needs were met. We loved the neighborhood store where we had breakfast. Everything was clean and easily accessible. The view was beautiful. Finding lodging in a country which we have never visited from home is not always easy. The cottage in Loch Fyne was a gem, and we feel fortunate we were able to spend some time there. - "The house is well organised. I will share three remaks to help you to improve it : - we didn't find a hairdryer; - it was impossible to dry our clothes in the garden (with the sun) because the rope for hanging is durty, broken so too short - the table legs are now too short: they need to be wedged Thank you again for this booking: we will come again!" - "Newton North was wonderful. Perfectly equipped, lovely decor, great location with marvellous views across the loch. Thoughtful extra touches like hot water bottles, binoculars, ice packs already in the freezer, etc. The only down side was the main road, which ran past the front door, with lorry traffic starting from early morning."

Cosy Luxury Smugglers' Cottage in the Heart of Inveraray. Sleeps 4 in 2 Bedrooms
Cottage
Quay Close, Scotland, United Kingdom

Smugglers' Cottage is a beautiful, traditional cottage in the heart of the conservation village of Inveraray. With its thick, white-washed walls and beautiful sash windows it retains that unique Scottish charm!
The living room and kitchen are open plan - offering the perfect sociable space, with everything you need for your break. We love that there is a dishwasher, so nobody gets stuck doing the dishes!
The sumptuous velvet sofas are ideal for putting your feet up after a day of exploring Argyll.
Upstairs, the bathroom features a lovely deep, roll-top, claw-foot bath - we can think of nothing better than sinking in to it and relaxing - making the most of your getaway!
There are two bedrooms - one double and one super-king (zip-link). Both have luxury Hypnos mattresses, and the bedroom windows all have blackout blinds to ensure the best nights sleep!

The cottage is located right in the heart of Inveraray, allowing you the best of both worlds - we are detached and away from the road, so are very fortunate to have an amazingly central location with no road noise!
From the front door, you could stop in at Ocho (next door) for breakfast. Head round the corner and you are on the Main Street - explore the plethora of brilliant, independently owned gift shops. Visit the town Jail (popular with adults and children alike!) then stop in at Brambles for coffee & cake (or lunch), before heading over to Inveraray Castle. After exploring the Castle, you could climb to Dun Na Cuaiche - the watchtower above the Castle, offering some of the best views around! Back down to the cottage, enjoy a hot bath before you hear one of The George's renowned music festival drifting across from their Garden Bar - and you can't help but join in! The pizzas are good, and the music is excellent - and there is no entry fee. Or if you would prefer a sit-down meal, The George also does excellent food (as does The Samphire if you are a seafood fan)! And all within 300 yards of the cottage (perhaps with the exception of the Castle ground/walks - you could go as far as you dare)!
If you've any energy left for the next day, you could visit Brambles for breakfast before heading to the pony trekking centre just outside Inveraray (Argyll Adventure). Or perhaps relaxing at the local pool & spa might be a better idea after a big day! Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa offers a wonderful atmosphere for a pampering session.
Oh and don't forget to bring your camera (or phone!) - the Northern Lights are seen on a fairly regular basis here during the winter months...

Town: Founded in 1745 by the Duke of Argyll, Inveraray has served as the county town of Argyll for centuries. It faces Loch Fyne and is adjacent to the stunningly restored Inveraray Castle. The town was planned to house people who worked at the castle estate, in the nearby woollen mill, and in the burgeoning herring industry. In today's society, many buildings are recognised for their significant architectural value and are therefore protected. In addition to the castle, modern-day visitors can enjoy the town's many other sights, including its many shops, restaurants, and cafes. Lightship-turned-museum-floating-jail; has seen better days. The National Trust Crarae Gardens are a must-see, as are the Highland Games. Auchgoyle Bay Cottage
Cottage
Minard

Auchgoyle Bay Cottage is the perfect base to explore Argyll – the Coast of the Gaels. The cottage is in the small village of Minard, just south of Inveraray and has direct views across the ever-changing panorama of Loch Fyne.

Guest access
All areas in the cottage are accessible. The cottage is located in a terrace and there is a common area to the rear, with a private garden behind the outbuildings.

Other things to note
We're on the west coast of Scotland, so prepare for sunshine, rain and wind at any time of year, and quite possibly a mix of all three in one day.

In the summer months you may also come across the infamous midge. There are various myths and legends about how you keep them at bay - the best we've found is "Smidge" a repellant that doesn't include any dodgy chemicals. You can buy Smidge in shops locally.

The house has everything you need including bedding and towels - all you need to bring is food, drink and toiletries.
