Tastefully decorated, the flat has 2 bedrooms, one with a King-sized bed, and another with a single bed. In the living room, there is even a comfy sofa that pulls out into a sofabed.

The kitchen is fully equipped with essential cookware and cutleries that you will need to whip up a delicious meal.

The bathroom has all the amenities you’ll need to freshen up such as a shower, a toilet, and a sink. Fresh towels and free toiletries will also be supplied for your convenience.

The house is always professionally cleaned and strategically sanitized for your safety.

Only about an hour's drive from Glasgow, the town is a gateway to the Highlands & Islands and provides a great base for day touring.

The property is located in the centre of Inveraray only steps from the water, it is just a moments’ walk from the Jail, as well as all the local amenities including bars, restaurants, and shops, not forgetting Inveraray Castle.

The community here is quite tight-knit, and one of the perks is being able to socialise with locals. Though is quiet most of the year, during the summer it becomes a busy tourist town with visitors from all over the UK and other countries.

Car parks are often available just outside the property, or within close proximity at the nearby carpark, there is also free parking at the Co-op.

This is a self check-in property and you will be requested to verify your identity before being able to check into the flat. You can check-in anytime of the day as long as you respect our standard check-in time.

Also, we charge £50 for each set of lost keys (security keys may cost more). For security purposes, there may be an additional cost to replace the locks. So, please keep your keys safe :)

There is a zero-tolerance policy for smoking in the property. If our team discovers any evidence that this rule has been breached (e.g smoke smell, ashes, butts, etc.) we fully reserve the right to charge a £300 GBP smoking fee, at minimum.

We do not allow parties, large gatherings, loud noises, or outside guests. Should we receive sufficient evidence of such activity we reserve the right to cancel your stay (without refund) and may involve a security team to evict you. Any associated cost will be charged to you via your security deposit. Local authorities may also be present (if required).

Situated right in the heart of the picturesque town of Inveraray, 1 Main Street West offers everything you need for a break away from it all. With two spacious bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), this characterful flat offers easy access to a host of outstanding facilities available right on the doorstep. A stone's throw from the water, you'll enjoy some of the best photo opportunities around! Just 1.5 hours from Glasgow, it offers an accessible base to explore Argyll & the West of Scotland.
The flat is on the first floor, accessed via stone steps to the rear of the building. Once inside, there is a large living room with open plan kitchen off the top corner separated by a breakfast bar. There is a family bathroom (electric shower over the bath), a twin room, and a master double bedroom with enough space for a travel cot (not provided - please bring your own). Freshly refurbished in 2021, the flat provides a comfortable, modern space for you to enjoy the area and the proximity to facilities.

It was so easy to walk to cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as tourist shops and attractions. Only problem was the parking. There is a 30 min limit outside the flat during the day but we never got a space there, day or night. We did occasionally park near the Historic Jail (an attraction, not a current prison) but usually had the choice of paying or a walk. Everything else was fine and Inverary was a lovely place, both to visit and as a base for elsewhere."

The Apartment

Once Jail Cells dating back to the 19th Century they have served their time and now form a beautiful and unique 1 bedroom self catering apartment at heart of the historic town of Inveraray. An original part of Inveraray Jail which is now a popular tourist attraction adjoining the property which offers our guests a discount on entry.

From the ground floor entrance the original stone staircase leads to the first floor living area. The apartment consists of an inviting Double Bedroom which is stylishly decorated. The properties bathroom is located directly off the bedroom and is a bright contemporary space with a rainfall shower, basin and toilet. The living area is welcoming and has a flatscreen TV, 3 seater sofa bed which sleeps 2 and a dining table which can seat 4. You’ll get a glimpse of the beautiful view of Loch Fyne from the shoreline which lies just a few feet around the corner. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a small breakfast bar.

Location

The property is ideally situated, tucked in a quiet corner in the heart of the town, a stones throw from Inveraray’s main street with its shops, pubs and bistros, and the stunning Loch Fyne shoreline just around the corner. A short walk to Inveraray Castle and a perfect base to explore Inveraray and the stunning west coast.

History

The apartment is a listed building which formed part of Inveraray Jail and the Old Police Station. It housed Debtors until their debts were settled and you’ll find nods everywhere to its past including the original bars on the entrance window. It then became living quarters for jail employees. Neil Munro renowned novelist and poet of Parahandy fame lived in the apartment as a boy with his mother who married the Governor of Inveraray Jail.

Other things to note
The properly is located on the first floor up a set of stairs and therefore unfortunately may not be suitable for people with limited mobility. The living area is all on one level.

With a young family ourselves we are delighted to welcome children to stay in the apartment. Please however note that there is no bath. We are happy to provide a baby bath and travel cot. We recommend if you are staying with children under 5 you message us in advance of booking so we can help in planning your stay and provide equipment that may be helpful to you.

Waterside apartment in the heart of Inveraray with stunning views over Loch Fyne. This 2nd-floor apartment has 3 bedrooms - one double, one twin and one single - a well-equipped kitchen, spacious living room and bathroom with electric shower.
