- "Having read other reviews of Tarhuna we booked and were not disappointed. It was perfect for us and the dogs, the sunsets from the sitting room were beyond beautiful. Nearby beaches of Big Sand, Gairloch and the gem that is Firemore beach were glorious. We even went in the sea-in wetsuits! The Black Pearl Caribbean Kitchen in Gairloch was superb. Everyone was friendly. We simply had a wonderful, relaxing two weeks in a beautiful house in a beautiful part of the world. We will return. Thank you."

- "Clean and tidy. A pleasurable stay." - "We stayed at Grinills with my toddler and parents for a few days. The location was perfect for my toddler who loved running and rolling about on the beach, and there were lots of toys and books for him too. The views from the house were spectacular. Everything was really clean even if the decor is a little dated. The kitchen was really well equipped and all appliances worked well. The garage came in really useful as we had various bikes and equipment with us. We've since moved to another holiday house nearer Skye but missing Grinills and wishing we'd stayed there longer!"

Arrowdale is an architect-designed cottage in a stunning location with private access to the sea. Guests never fail to be blown away. New to VRBO this year. SEE 'ARROWDALE HOLIDAY COTTAGE' ON GOOGLE FOR FIVE STAR REVIEWS.
One of the standout features of the house is the huge picture window in the kitchen/living room. The window seat is big enough for two, and a great place to nature watch, read or snooze after a long day exploring the hills and the sea. There's a wood burning stove, and plenty of games, books and puzzles if you don't want to use the smart tv. There's croquet, giant jenga and outdoor Twister for at home days enjoying the lovely sunny garden. There's lots of bird and animal life near the house too for you to enjoy with the spotting scope in the living room. The kitchen is as well equipped as the best home kitchen - no blunt kitchen knives here - and there's a coffee grinder if you don't want to let the Nespresso machine do your work for you.
The Master Bedroom is downstairs. It has a king size bed and an en suite bathroom. The bathroom has a large bath with a powerful overhead shower, under floor heating and a heated towel rail. The two twin bedrooms are upstairs in the eaves of the cottage and they share a bathroom. You'll find lots of fluffy towels and high thread count bedlinen at Arrowdale, there's a woollen rug on every bed, not that you'll need one as the house is lovely and cosy.
The house is decorated with relaxation and comfort in mind. The palette throughout is calming and in harmony with the landscape in which the cottage sits. The house is furnished almost exclusively with Neptune furniture, including the fitted kitchen.
The house stands in over 6 acres of private ground with safe, direct access to the sea. It couldn't be easier for you to swim every day if you want to, you can borrow a kayak (or bring your own) and head straight out to sea without ever having to get into your car. There are lots of lovely local walks too. The area is a haven for wildlife, there's a thriving family of seals in the sea beside the house, otters too, pine marten and roe deer are often seen in the garden, sometimes red deer too.
There's a fine dining restaurant (The Shieldaig Lodge Hotel) less than half a mile away with an amazing bar and a billiard table; three miles in the opposite direction from the house is a fantastic pub. The Badachro Inn has stunning views, lovely food, and a wood fired pizza takeaway service.
There are wonderful beaches close by, including the much-admired Red Point and its slightly harder to get at but very special neighbour, Far Red Point, featured on the film What We Did on Our Holiday. You will see glorious views out to Skye, Rona and as far as Harris and Lewis on a good day, from Far Red Point you look towards Torridon and the Applecross Peninsula. You can horse ride along Red Point from the nearby Gairloch Trekking Centre.
There's a lovely wee golf course in Gairloch, you can hire a boat and go fishing, or take a longer trip and go way out to sea in search of whales, dolphins and orcas. You can hire a local guide who can take you coasteering or who can take you for tailored adventures in the hills, including rock climbing and igloo making. You can get paddle boarding lessons, or hire e-bikes locally too. There are many many walks and bike rides that you can enjoy, some of which can be enjoyed straight from the house, and there are many mountains in easy reach of the cottage by car. There's archery and falconry throughout the summer months at the Shieldaig Lodge Hotel, half a mile from the house. New this year, there's a mobile sauna at the Shieldaig Lodge Hotel, you can either visit it at the hotel or have it installed in the driveway for your stay. There's a wonderful distillery three miles away where you can take a tour and taste their wonderful gin, vodka and whisky. During the summer holidays there's a local ceilidh night with a live band and a caller to make sure that everyone feels confident and ready to join in. Locals and holiday makers mingle on these ceilidh evenings, giving a Highland welcome and a taste of Scottish culture.
There's so much to see and do, and most guests find that they run out of time to do all that they want to if they only stay for a week (two week stays are discounted).
The shops are around 10 minutes away, and you'll find everything there that you need. There are many local cafes and restaurants, some featuring local seafood (the langoustines are incredible), some specialising in sweet treats like fully loaded waffles or cakes - no shortage of wonderful cakes in Gairloch - a local favourite specialises in Creole flavours (rave reviews from everybody who goes). Of course you'll find fish and chips and other pub favourites here too.
If you don't feel like cooking but you like home cooked food you can order from a menu of 'Arrowdale Ready Meals' cooked by your host. No more arriving in the early evening at a holiday house after a long journey and having to go out and find somewhere to eat; Arrowdale guests can have food waiting for them in the fridge when they arrive. Turn the oven on, pop the food in and go and sit on a rock by the sea with a drink while your supper looks after itself...
The location is private, beautiful and incredibly peaceful, the house is comfortable and a wonderfully relaxing place to be, the sea is less than 150 metres from the house. You can be as active as you choose, there's plenty of options for visitors either way.
Arrowdale is much loved by everyone who visits, and many people return.

Melvaig is a beautiful crofting community so there are fields with sheep, cows and other farm animals. Please be respectful of this and also keep your dog on its lead at all times when walking your dog.
In Melvaig there is poor mobile phone reception (BT and EE are best here though) and there is no landline in the property. However, there is broadband for WiFi calling.
In an emergency please call into the owners next door.
The property is strictly for 2 people (no overnight friends in campervans in the driveway please) and up to 2 well behaved small to medium pets.
Getting to the Sea Croft is straight forward.
You take the road through Gairloch and then turn off into the Village passing the Police station heading towards Big Sands Camp Site. Keep going straight on this road out towards Melvaig. It is about 9 miles from Gairloch but should only take you about 20 minutes careful driving on the single track road. There may also be animals like sheep and deer roaming so be aware and pot holes!
Please note there are no shops in Melvaig so your last chance for shopping is in Gairloch. It has mini markets, chemist, butchers, deli, coffe shops, restaurants, bars, Post office and ATMs and electric car charger point.
Once you pass the small bridge and the sign for Melvaig you continue up the wee hill. Our white cottage is the first on your left. You continue past us and go up to the big gate where you can enter and park your vehicle right outside the SeaCroft or in front of the gate.
To lock the front door when leaving for the day, lift handle up and lock with key.
The tap water in the cottage is safe to drink.
In case of any electrical trips, the fuse box is located in the back of the hall cupboard.
The WiFi is run off a WIFI extender from our property and is good enough for streaming to devices. If signal drops, try switching the WiFi box (behind the sofa) off/on. Don't forget we have included free Sky Movies and Entertainment through NowTV on the Smart TV for you.
Please note our neighbour keeps bees just in case your are allergic to them and also some sheep so keep an eye on your pets whilst in the garden.
There is an outside cold water tap at the main gate and a hose can be provided for washing down either your dog or car.
We have gas central heating which is on a shared boiler system next door to you. The heating is set to activate in the SeaCroft at 07:30, 10:30, 18:00 & 23:00. You can adjust the thermostat by adjusting the +/- buttons only. You can also adjust the the radiators.
