Guest Reviews:

- "Beautifully remote and effortlessly managed, Gillie and Lin had a fantastic approach to ensuring everything about our Christmas stay was truly magical. Photos can't do the property and it's surroundings justice - you have to see it to believe it - and we couldn't recommend it more if we tried. We can't wait to come back for beach walks, swims and seafood; what an incredible experience." - "Lovely cosy stay, weather forced us indoors a few times, hardly unexpected given the time of year. We made the most of the area and got out for some fantastic walks. Unfortunately the shops and restaurants were closed on the whole because of new year and also weather, so plan accordingly! We made the decision not to bother with winter tyres which was fine, the road is gritted daily throughout winter. The views from the window in the kitchen are phenomenal and we were lucky enough to see the northern lights on one occasion. If you do happen to travel up in mid winter as we did, bear in mind there may be power cuts, we had one while we were there. The log burner kept us warm and we did manage to cook on top of it, however this is not easy and it wouldn't hurt to bring a camping stove as a backup. Looking forward to returning at some stage! "

- "We had a lovely break in October 2020. The cottage was well equipped with everything we could possible need. The extra information we received due to the Covid Restrictions were very useful and certainly put our minds at rest, we felt safe and comfortable with the extra steps taken during our stay. Although the cottage is remote (which is what we wanted) there is a pub and shop within walking distance. It has been noted by others that the Tv reception could be problematic, noting this we took our Amazon Firestick and using the free WiFi we had no problems at all. The views from the cottage and surrounding area were lovely. Many thanks to all concerned for making our stay enjoyable and safe. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo"

- "House was super, I came with a disabled child, and access was fine for us, as patio doors at kitchen, if bed in bottom bedroom was not a divan, would be ideal for a hoist user. Key holder at door very fiddly to get into, if you have sore fingers or elderly. N outside light at other end of house would be great for winter. Views are out of this world, got to visit relations locally and did zip wire and Smoo Cave. The beach is beautiful to be on and listen to at night, stunning with the moon out full. Would stay again for sure."

For us it meant an 11 hour drive to get to the property, but it was totally worth it and we regretted not booking it for a linger period." - "Absolutely idilic location with outstanding views and a short walk to a beautiful beach. - "We have just spent two days in this fabulous cottage to explore the NC500 without the stress of bringing our motorhomes up this far. (The A roads can be a bit challenging up here as some parts are single track) The cottage was spotlessly clean, spacious and cosy and also dog friendly. There were 4 adults and 2 dogs in our party. It had everything you could want or need. It is situated overlooking the coast near Tongue. It’s a mere 15 minute walk to Skinnet Beach ( very quiet and unspoilt and we saw seals) and the Craggen Hotel is a 5 minute walk serving hot meals. We cannot recommend this cottage enough. We will be sure to return. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay."

The nearby town of Tongue has a larger selection of amenities and facilities including a general store, bars, restaurants and craft shops. The immediate area is renowned for its spectacular scenery, with the mountains of Ben Hope and Loyal, numerous sandy beaches and wonderful hill and coastal walks direct from the cottage. The region is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. For sailors and kayakers, there is a slipway and harbour close to the cottage. Horse riding is available at nearby Torrisdale sands. The area is also renowned for its loch, river and sea fishing. Permits are available locally for salmon, sea trout and brown trout and boats are also available to hire. There are a number of excellent golf courses within easy reach, including Durness and Reay. Beach ¼ mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
