Bedrooms - a three bedroom house with two masters each with king size bed and each with an adjoining full bathroom. The main level features a third bedroom with a queen bed and again an adjoining private full bathroom. On the lower level there are two private "bungalows" perfect for the young ones. The first has a twin trundle bed and the second has a twin bunk set. Finally there is a brand new queen pull out sofa bed with a surprisingly comfortable memory foam mattress.

Kitchen - Granite counter tops, double oven, microwave, dishwasher. Fully stocked with pots, pans, and all of the dishes and utensils. Keurig coffee maker, coffee grinder, and drip coffee maker.

Dining - The home features a casual table outside of the kitchen that seats five and then the living/dining room area has a 9.5 foot table that seats ten.

Activities - aside from just jumping in the lake of course other forms of entertainment include ping pong, air hockey, and foosball tables! Who knew foosball was so much fun? In addition there are three kayaks available for your use two 12 footers and one at nine feet.

Decks - The home features an upper and lower level deck both of which include partially covered sections perfect for staying comfortable during the peak sun hours. Midway between the home and the dock is another deck space with fantastic views of the lake and the cove. If you want to be outside you will find a place that fits you perfectly.

The Dock - the dock features two sections. On the left a fixed portion that is frequently shaded by the covered lift perfect for reading and drinking it all in. On the right side is a floating dock section with a dock ladder and cleats to secure your boat. Lake depth at the end of each side of the dock was measured in 2017 at over 13 feet (of course this can change daily so remember to be careful). Currently the covered lift is not available for use but the deep water alongside the floating dock will accommodate many sizes and styles of boats. Should the covered lift be a priority for you please contact us and we may be able to accommodate your request.

Our waterfront home has been lovingly updated and maintained and is a perfect choice for your family vacation on Smith Mountain Lake! This waterfront home has beautiful lake and sunset views and is situated on a wide water cove off the main channel. It offers deep water for swimming from the floating and stationary dock, and the shoreline offers sandy walk in water, perfect for young children to swim or to sit on Adirondack chairs while splashing your feet in the waters edge.

The dock also offers enough space to tie up your boat. If you are looking to rent a boat during your stay, our home is conveniently located new the Halesford Bridge area which offers several marina and rental options. In addition, if you wish to trailer your own boat, there is a boat ramp within our community for your convenience to launch and the house offers ample space in the driveway and side street for your trailer in addition to multiple vehicle parking.

The dock area also offers a waterside fire pit with a shaded sitting area for all day relaxation and mini-frig for afternoon beverages. The yard has plenty of trees so there is always small branches and sticks on the ground to gather to help build your campfire, and we also keep a small supply of firewood nearby.

For your entertainment, there are two kayaks and two paddle boards provided for lots of lake fun!! We also have available a variety of adult size life jackets for your use but be sure to pack life jackets for your children as all sizes are not available. There is also an electric air pump to assist you in blowing up your favorite floats.

The house is situated on a corner lot with a large front yard for family yard games, and we have a corn hole game for hours of fun. Also we are conveniently located only minutes by land or water to Bridgewater Plaza and area amenities, for shopping, dining, arcade and mini- golf. Nearby, there are also golf courses, wineries, historical sites and the Blue Ridge Parkway to explore.

The main level of the house offers a newly renovated kitchen and dining area with seating for eight. The main Living Room offers hardwood floors, a cathedral ceiling, fire place and patio doors out to lakeside deck for outside dining and sunset views. The master suite offers a queen bed, private bath with dual sinks and private lakeside deck as well. The main floor also has two additional bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one with a double bed) and second bath. The lower level provides the third bath and fourth sleeping area and family room combination. This offers a queen size and a double size bed, along with family room furnishings and area for games and second fireplace.

There are DVD’s, PlayStation, Game Cube and super Nintendo with many games to play. There is also board games, puzzles for indoor competitive fun or to relax. The family room also has patio doors leading out to a lakeside covered patio with a Weber gas grill, and plenty of seating for relaxation and dining outside.

Finally, One of my favorite things to do on vacation is cook for my family and friends, so with that in mind, the kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, casserole dishes, electric griddle, mixer, crock pot, kitchen aid, toaster, coffee maker and multiple cooking utensils, Nice dish ware, flatware, wine glasses, etc. Everything you need to prepare and serve your favorite meals.

Therefore we have met the requirements set by Bedford County to allow short term rentals in our home.

Spike's Place is located in a small cove with a southern exposure and magnificent 'million dollar' view overlooking the main channel, the Hales Ford Bridge, Smith Mountain and the Bridgewater Plaza just below Bouy Marker R 30. This waterfront unit is one of two rentals in a unique triplex (See Kathy's Place, VRBO Listing #218590) situated on over 2 acres in a single family residential subdivision. A convenience store is 5 minutes away; and grocery stores, restaurants, shopping centers, marinas, boat rentals, movies and the State Park are all within 5 to 30 minutes' drive - some by car and some by boat! The small protected cove is ideal for swimming, fishing, floating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and paddle boating with easy access to the lake and only 2 minutes from the Bridge by water, which has restaurants, miniature golf, game room, gift shops, realtors, etc. and our Chamber of Commerce.

Spike's Place is a ground level lakefront unit totaling 1400 sq. ft. All rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished. It has 1 bedroom with a connecting bath. The bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed. All beds have pillow top mattress covers. The large great room has a dinette, full kitchen, living room furniture with a 57' HD Flat screen TV with BLURAY DVD Player. Streamng TV Service and Wi-Fi High Speed Internet are included. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel cookware, a cast iron skillet, 17 cu. ft. refrigerator, microwave, blender, toaster, Mr. Coffee coffeemaker and chef knives. The unit has cleaning supplies, vacuum, ironing board, iron and hairdryer. The tiled patio has wrought iron furniture, a porch swing and gas grill (propane provided). It does not have a dishwasher so you might want to bring paper products.

All bed linens, bath and kitchen towels along with toilet paper, dish soap, trash bags and courtesy soaps are provided year round EXCEPT FOR THE SUMMER WEEKLY RENTALS. SUMMER WEEKLY RENTERS MUST BRING THEIR OWN BATH AND BEACH TOWELS. The other items listed above will be provided.

There are two docks/patio areas with floating docks, diving board and a fish cleaning stand plus electric and water. You will have shared use of 5 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, a paddle boat, canoe, diving board, tubes, noodles, floats and sandy beach with firepit. The dock has access by stairs or golf car ramp. A complimentary golf car will also be provided for your exclusive use (adult drivers only!) during your stay for access to the dock and beach.

We also have free trash pick up.

We are Pet Friendly provided you have a crate to contain your pet when left alone in the rental; your pet is currently in a flea treatment program 60 days prior to your arrival; and you clean up after your pet. There is not a leash requirement on our property provided your keep your pet under control. The neighborhood is 'casual' and cats and dogs do wander onto the property at times. A $50.00 fee for the first 2 nights and $5.00 for any additional nights per pet will be charged for extra cleaning to keep the unit and yard neat and clean. Any major damage done by your pet will be repaired and billed to you.

There is 'No Smoking' inside but ashtrays are provided on the deck and dock areas outside. Please do not throw butts in the year, driveway or lake. Thank you for your cooperation.

Great location in a quiet neighborhood with a tennis court & private boat ramp. Food Lion, restaurants and wineries are only a few miles drive.

The home is not handicap accessible, but there is a deck ramp that leads into the house. The circular drive is only 1 car wide & additional parking is available at the tennis courts.

Comfortable beds & linens are provided and the home is well stocked. We have rented numerous vacation homes and we wanted Sweet V to have all the amenities we have found valuable. The home has cable TV and a full laundry room. A high chair and pack-n-play crib are onsite for your convenience.

- "We love this property. The house is big enough for our family and the young adults spend alot of time in the gazebo at night. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfortable. We have already booked our week for next year." - "We had a group of 13 adults and our 4-yr old grandson. Everyone had very comfortable accommodations and the kitchen had all we needed to prepare meals. The boat dock needed a little TLC but we were able to fish easily from it and it had ample room for a boat and jet ski. Parking was a little cramped but the host let us park on the grass near the driveway which helped us out a lot! The basement had a ping pong table, air hockey (which our grandson loved to play!), and a foosball table. The last 2 days of our stay were rainy so the opportunities for indoor recreation were welcomed. Highly recommend the Sweet Virginia Blue home if you want a place that can accomodate a large group!"

This delightful cottage is a must-stay for anybody looking for a get away to Smith Mountain Lake! The Hummingbird Cottage is a two-bedroom, one-bath home with 2 queen beds and a queen-size sleeper sofa. It's the perfect retreat for a couple's getaway or a small family escape!

The Hummingbird Cottage offers an open floor plan with a living room and an updated kitchen. The kitchen has a large refrigerator and stainless steel appliances. The living room has plenty of seating with a large wrap-around couch, and two chairs that face the wood-burning fireplace. The bathroom has a sink, toilet and shower. The living room and bedrooms are all equipped with flat-screen HDTVs and Blue-Ray DVD players. Relax near the wood-burning fireplace and watch one of the many movies, play board games, or get lost in a book. Wireless Internet is provided.

There are many outdoor spaces to enjoy at the cottage. The deck provides a peaceful, wooded setting to enjoy the views while relaxing or cooking on the gas grill. A gravel, switch-back path leads down to the dock. The dock is a great place to swim, fish, float, and enjoy the sunset. Two kayaks are available for our guests during their stay.

The dock is large enough to tie up a boat and jet ski. Electricity is available at the top of the stairs near the dock for recharging boat batteries. Public boat ramps are located at Hale's Ford Marina and Oak Grove- both within 15-20 minutes of the cottage.

The Hummingbird Cottage is conveniently located by water and land to many of Smith Mountain Lake's shopping and attractions, including Bridgewater Plaza, local wineries, Smith Mountain Lake State Park, Food Lion grocery store, and the Diamond Hill General Store. All are within 10 to 20 minutes of the cottage.

Note: A gravel driveway leads down a hill to the cottage. Boat trailers should not go down the driveway- the turn around area near the cottage is not large enough. Boat and jet ski trailers can be parked at the top of the driveway in the trailer parking area. Please notify owner if you plan to bring a boat/trailer.
