- "This sweet cabin is the perfect mix of rustic charm and "lets live in reality" necessities. Could not ask for it to be cleaner, or cozier. Many thanks for sharing the peace and quiet with two very exhausted humans and one recently adopted dog who LOVED every minute in your slice of heaven!" - "The property was really clean and there were so many things there that we forgot to bring ourselves like camping chairs to use down by the creek, bug spray, dish soap etc. The owners were super nice and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. - "The cabin is well represented by the web site. It was very clean. We enjoyed the screened in deck, outside deck, fire pit and kayaking on the creek. It's a good distance from civilization and few places around you. The cabin has more stuff in it than I was expecting. Shampoo and some toiletries, a full kitchen, I honestly thought it was more like someone's house that I'd rented than a cabin because there was everything you could possibly think of there. Hospitality: The owner was especially helpful when we were there. She responded to text, email and calls quickly and gave us advice on the area. I felt like she thought of just about everything. Bugs: Yes of course there are. Bring a can of insect fogger and walk around the perimeter of the lawn with it. We did that and within hours the bugs were mostly gone, and we were able to sit outside even at night and enjoy the camp fire and running stream. Sulfur in water: Yes, it isn't perfect but there was a water cooler with 5 gallon bottles of water in the kitchen so there was no need to worry about bringing enough fresh water. It reminded me of a destination I went to in the Rocky Mountains that had natural hot water springs that smelled a bit like sulfur - some places you have to pay extra for the minerals in the water, though I would prefer not to have the smell in the water. All in all, it was everything we hoped for, and we had a spectacular time."

- "Comfortable and clean. Great view. Great place to rest and relax. Be sure to pick up some groceries at the Heritage Family Market nearby - most if not all seemed to be locally sourced and everything was delicious." - "We visited for an adults-only get-together, celebrating a 60th wedding anniversary. The facility was even better than advertised- this property has been meticulously upgraded and the renovation is excellent. The property is lovely, the views stunning. We enjoyed long walks and nearby museums, battlefields, and wineries on our visit, then made fabulous meals and enjoyed the outside porch. The hosts could not have been nicer or more gracious, and every amenity has been well-thought out. I adore the open floor plan of the main house, and each of the three bedrooms are beautiful, accompanied by luxurious en suite bathrooms, double sized showers, and more. The hosts communicated clearly and provided instructions well. They were responsive, personal, and thoughtful at every moment. THANK YOU for an awesome visit!"

- "Amazing cabin, amazing location. Definitely off the beaten path some. Perfect for a true mountain feel." - "The property was amazing and we had a great time. Exploring the trails by the river was so much fun. We saw 3 bears during our stay, turkeys, fish, and hundreds of other animals at the animal Safari nearby. The peaceful starry nights were spectacular, especially to watch the meteor showers. The pool table and pingpong table were a big hit when it was too hot to enjoy the outdoors. - "Our visit was July 1-8, and we would highly recommend this property for a relaxing, refreshing stay by the James River. The house was very clean on arrival, kitchen well-stocked, ample linens and towels. We spent a lot of time on the porches, just hanging out and enjoying the quiet and watching canoers, kayakers, and tubers on the river. Access is right across the road (literally a one minute walk) so it’s easy to wade in. Because we did not have tubes, we went on a tubing trip through Twin Rivers Outfitters in Buchanan (about 4 miles from house). The yard is very large and flat with a big fire pit, picnic table, chairs. Roanoke is about 45 minutes away, but a neat town to explore with lots of green space. Lexington is about 25 minutes away. Just FYI: Because Buchanan is small, there is no large grocery. The Hilltop store and Family Dollar were depleted of basics (due to high volume of campers for 4th of July, we were told). What food we didn’t bring with us we got in Roanoke (combined shopping with a day trip), but there is a Krogers in Daleville, which is closer. The owner was very helpful, very responsive."

- "Great time with the family in a fun setting! Lots of wildlife and awesome views of the river. We really enjoyed the hot tub, tubing, kayaking and the overall vibes of the property. We appreciate the quick response when we needed assistance with check in. Thanks again!" - "Parents, adult children and grandchildren all had a lovely time at Mitch and Bobbie's Serenity. Saw some sights, wildlife (even a bear), fished, grilled, sat around the firepit and had s'mores, a complete vacation experience over the Memorial Day weekend. A few even climbed into the hot tub. Cabin is fantastic with massive views, excellent accommodations and wonderful kitchen. Can't wait to go back!"

The house was clean, tidy, and was true to how it was described. Overall we had a great time! I wish, though, that there was more information about it being an active, working farm, as we heard machines running early in the morning, but it did not cause any issues whatsoever!" - "Gala Farmhouse is a gem. Perfect for a family and friends getaway. Modern amenities in a charmingly preserved farmhouse. Great kitchen for cooking! Comfortable beds. Very clean. Good spot for hiking, fishing, river activities. Hope to visit again!"

- "Great place to stay! Quiet and relaxing after long day of wedding prep and a long wedding day!!! The house was clean, everything was provided for us (linens, etc…). Would absolutely stay again and have already recommended it to family and friends!!! Owners were great and very responsive to answer questions prior to our stay!!!" - "Everything we needed and more! This is truly a clothes on your back and sack of groceries kind of stay, we wanted for nothing. Our visit was three days in the winter and vey much enjoyed the peace and quiet with a babbling creek. Imagine the view of being nestled in the mountains gazing across a wide gurgling creek and through the trees at other cottages with smoke billowing from their chimneys. The cottage was adorably decorated and so cozy with the wood stove burning. The host went above and beyond to welcome and accommodate my family and our fur-babies. The internet was important to us as we were looking for properties and I was surprised with excellent connectivity for this remote location. I can't even imagine the fun to be had during the warming months and hope to come back to enjoy the outdoor fire pit, cooking out and the kayaks! Thank you so much for our wonderful winter weekend away!"

Fresh flowers and local baked goods and spirits added to our warm welcome. Keeping this one on our shortlist for sure!" - "Lovely property! Our hosts were wonderful and they had cookies, mini-loaves of bread, a bottle of honey wine and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers awaiting us! Great weekend with friends! A large 2+ bedroom rancher in a quite residential neighborhood in Clifton forge, a town that has been voted "The Best Outdoor Small Town" twice recently by the Blue Ridge Magazine. Nestled in the Allegheny Mountains, it has a long railroad history and a commitment to the arts. This house is located at the end of a quiet street with ample parking. It abuts a town park and provides easy access to many amenities and activities, indoor and out. This rental includes a patio, BBQ and laundry room. Additionally, there is a private, attached efficiency apartment that sleeps 2 extra (with full amenities) that is available upon request for an extra fee. The home is ideal for families or couples out to explore the area. Yard is not fully fenced but pets welcome if under owner's control.
- "Very clean, updated home, and lots of space for a two bedroom. Plenty of outlets and extension cords with both lighting and usb outlets everywhere you turn, and comfortable seating throughout the house. Would stay here again!" - "I needed a last minute place to stay and I'm so happy I found this place! There was plenty of space and had a cozy atmosphere. I stayed with my dog so the partially fenced yard was awesome. There is also a hiking trail right at the end of the street that was very convenient for us! The host was kind - I would recommend staying here if you're in the area!"
