- "Our group of 7, ages 20-79, had a wonderful trip. First off, Marlinton is a great town. I’ve visited many times and get over as often as I can. I (and my family) love the area. From the beginning, communication with the owner was excellent. She promptly answered my questions and was also very gracious to me after I’d made a booking mistake. Thank you. The house itself is older, and the owners have done a great job making updates but still maintaining its awesome charm. It’s clear that they love the home. It’s an easy walk to downtown, which was great since Marlinton was having an annual festival and there was a show at the Pocahontas Opera House. We walked back and forth from downtown several times. All areas of the house were very clean, it has a large kitchen with everything and more you need to prepare meals, the main bathroom is good sized, and the living room and TV rooms are very nice. All the bedrooms are nice, and we slept well. The property has a large, fenced-in backyard with plenty of space and we loved the front porch. Internet was fast and reliable. Everyone in our group agreed this was a great place and we’d love to stay again. Absolutely no hesitation. "

- "We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cottage! It's the best of both worlds... we had all the modern amenities of home, but were surrounded by the WV's mountains and natural beauty. It was close to everything we wanted to see in the area; walking distance or a short drive to just about everything. There's a trailhead literally across the street. We rented a bike from the shop a few blocks away and spent hours exploring the Greenbrier River Trail. Our 9 year old actually spent more time outdoors than he did staring at screens!Beds were super comfy, showers were hot, house was spotless. Wifi worked great, was able to do a little work from 'home.'There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but was also nice to have a fully stocked kitchen to cook dinners together. There's a grocery store and beer store a short drive away. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a comfy place to lay your head after hiking or biking around the area. We'll definitely be back this winter for skiing at Snowshoe!"

- "Family of five plus cat and dog. Love this cabin and property. Quiet development with each property being several acres or more, we had plenty of privacy. Cabin was very clean and plenty of space for everyone to enjoy time together and have alone time if wanted. Cabin had every amenity we could have needed. The property was very well taken care of, large mowed area around the cabin lots of trees and a picnic/fire pit area. The weather was great, we spent many hours outside laying on a blanket on the lawn under the trees, heavenly! Location was great, lots of outdoor recreation and small towns nearby for whatever food/supplies we needed. Internet was good, did some video calls for remote work and phones/computers. We would love to come back!"

Day trips to the just established New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. No virus in these hills and hollows, too remote! Come and enjoy the a vacation worry-free!
Welcome to a quiet farm in the Appalachian Mountains. We have a 100 acre mountain farm with two creeks and miles long views in all directions. The only sounds are Pileated woodpeckers, lambs calling for their mothers and a very rare plane overhead. The sheep love attention and are happy to pretend to pose for photos.
The house is a two story three bedroom timber frame with solar and wood heat that can sleep ten adults or 16 total with children on mattresses on the floor.
The kitchen has a full complement of all necessary cooking resources, a gas stove and oven, (which is working fine contrary to a sour guest's 'warning'), two refrigerators and one freezer, spring water of the highest quality, so there is no need for bottled water.
Pocahontas County, a brilliant gem in these mountains, has many local resources, the Greenbrier River and its Trail, the Cranberry Wilderness Area, for hiking, fishing and cross country skiing, Snowshoe Ski Resort, the best skiing in the East south of New England and the Gauley River for white water rafting in the fall, also the best rafting east of the Mississippi.
- "We stayed with our two little kids on this beautiful enchanting farm for a week and really enjoyed our time. It was exactly what we were looking for, a spot to disconnect for a bit, slow down, and to be in nature. We loved spending time getting to know Dan and the sheep as well! Would love to return again in the future!" - "This was my second time staying at Dan’s farm. Each time, I visited with a different group of 4-5 friends. If you are looking for a beautiful, remote, quiet trip, this sheep farm is an incredible option. Located in the mountains of West Virginia, the farm feels far from the outside world, but provides a great background for long walks, sleeping in, cooking, warm baths, board games, and reading. The land around the home is vast and free to explore — my friends interested in birdwatching especially enjoyed walks in the area. Otherwise, my favorite parts are the beautiful kitchen and dining area as well as the porch that look over the hills of the area. Dan is a more than hospitable host whose home provides so much comfort. This was my second visit here, but certainly not my last."

The cottage is located on the Greenbrier River, one of the premier fishing and paddling streams in West Virginia. It is at the end of a long driveway, surrounded by trees and foliage. This a studio - style setup: there is one large room with a sleeping area (queen bed), living area with a fireplace, kitchen, and bathroom. There is also a small deck and patio. The cottage has WiFi, but no cell phone service or land line. You can drive a few miles into Hillsboro or Marlinton if you want to use your cell phone.
- "The listing was exactly as described. Additionally, there is no photo of one wall, which contains a sofa, a small chest-of-drawers, and an end table. There is a small closet with room to hang a few things. And there was a patio umbrella (not pictured). Don't expect to use the internet (pack your maps) or be able to watch the water from the cabin. Do expect to be comfortable and rested and in a great location to explore the area. Water access (wading/kayak put in) is available, downhill at end of the driveway. Greenbriar bike trail is on the opposite side of water, so a short drive is needed to access. Marlington had all the necessities we required. Grill is charcoal (charcoal provided). Simple, affordable, friendly, and cozy way to experience Pocahontas County."

- "Convenient and well furnished. Highly recommend." - "Family in town for festival. We absolutely loved this little cottage. The in town location could not have been more perfect as we were only a block or 2 from the festival and music venue. Clean, comfortable and cozy with a wonderful shaded side porch. We shall return." - "Fabulous house in Marlinton; easy access to Greenbrier River Trail and walkable to downtown area. Sweet amenities; comfortable beds; relaxing areas in porch to relax and unwind.
