About this space
This beautiful home sits in the middle of a hayfield that is part of an operational farm. Nestled in the beautiful hills of WV, this country home sits on approximately 189 acres and provides privacy people dream of. It is located within commuting distance of Stonewall Jackson Lake and Resort, Burnsville and Stonecoal Lakes. From the front porch, you can enjoy watching the wildlife crossing through the hayfields. You may see deer, black bears, wild turkeys, and even coyotes.
The space
You cannot see the house from the road. The house has a private gravel driveway that is approximately 3/4 of a mile long. It is a steep, one lane driveway that opens up at the top to expose the beautiful hill-top farm and home. The home has three bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a private bonus room above the garage, large living room, formal dining room and a breakfast nook. The kitchen is equipped with dishes, pots and pans, a dishwasher, and a coffee pot. There is a washer and dryer available for your use and a gas fireplace for those cool WV days.
Guest access
Guests can access the main and second floor of the house and the front and back patios of the house. The basement, barns and outbuildings are reserved for farm and homeowner's storage and farm equipment.

For safety reasons please do not climb on hay bales or farm equipment.

Absolutely no motorized vehicles are allowed in the hay fields or yard that surrounds the house.
Other things to note
Certain times of the year Rick will cut the hay. If you are our guest during hay-cutting season, you will get to watch the hay-machines in action. We may on occasion have to mow the yard or do other farm or house maintenance. We will do our best to let you know ahead of time before we arrive. We will do everything we can to not interfere with your vacation plans, but please understand that we have to cut the hay and mow during dry days/seasons and those are not always predictable in WV.

It is important to note that cell service near and at the home is limited. The internet service at the house is currently provided by Frontier Communications. It is adequate to surf the web, check your email, attend online meetings, etc. However please understand that gaming and streaming may not work well. Television is provided by Dish Network.

If there is anything we can do to make your stay a bit more enjoyable, please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate your needs. In Flatwoods, (nearby) there is a super-Walmart, a few restaurants, Starbucks, some clothing and other stores, a nail salon, an antique store, and gas-stations.

We stayed for a long weekend and visited with our grandchildren that live in the area and they absolutely loved it. There were games for them to play and all the outdoor space 3 growing boys could ask for to roam around and explore. We cannot wait to plan our next trip to Horseshoe Ridge Farms. The host were fabulous and made themselves available for anything we may have needed, although they did such a wonderful job that we didn't have a need to contact them for anything."

*There is NO SMOKING in this cabin or on the porch area. You may smoke by the fire pit and dispose or butts properly. Read house rules. There are fees charged if you smoke in the house or leave butts in the yard.
*The cleaning fees cover the average cleaning, disinfecting, floor, washing linens, ect.. Please leave dirty towels in the tub or you can start them in washer.
*Please clean any dishes/pans you have used before you leave.
*Trash bags are provided. Please put all trash in a trash bag in the trash can. If you put trash in the outside cans, make sure the trash is in trash bags. The lids must be put back on the trash cans outside or the animals will drag it all out. Bags are located in the cabinet area under the kitchen sink.
*Please do not get in the hot tub with dirty or muddy feet, please do not have food in the hot tub. There are chemicals there for you to put in the hot tub during your stay to help keep it clean. Please leave the lid on it when not in use. We drain and clean it several times a month due to people spilling stuff in it and muddying it up. If the hot tub has to be drained and cleaned after your stay, extra fees will be charged. This causes inconvenience for the next guest due to water having to be refilled and will not be up to proper temperature on their arrival.
*PLEASE NOTE: If the hot tub has to be cleaned the day of your check-in, the water will not be up to temperature until late that evening or the following day. Please understand that we cannot foresee these types of incidents, our goal is to keep the hot tub clean for the next guest. We apologize if this would happen to be the case for any inconvenience it may cause.
*Please leave the cabin the way you found it. Extra cleaning fees may incur or deposit held if you leave the cabin a trashy mess.
*The gas station is 3 miles North and there is a pizza shop the opposite way on 19 south. There is room for boat parking in a grass area below the house. The marina has boat slips for rent overnight and the lodge rents Pontoon boats, kayaks, and canoes. The lodge does charge a entrance fee to get in you can do a day pass or season pass. You would have to call the Resort for pricing. If you are just going for dinner the charge is minimal, you tell them at the gate.

This is a one bedroom, one bath cabin. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. In addition, there is a pull-out couch in the living room for an additional two guests. The kitchen is equipped with a mini fridge, wine cooler, electric counter-top burner, microwave and Kuerig coffee maker and is stocked with all basic eating and cooking utensils.

Our Cabin is located and overlooks the grounds of Lambert's Vintage Wines. Open all year round (Closed Sundays Winter months). Wine Tasting and tours daily. Enjoy relaxing on the lawn or under the breezeway.

All linens and towels are provided. Minimum 2 night stay on weekends. Grocery store within 3 miles. Binder in cabin provides guests with information about can local attractions and places to eat nearby.

Make sure you take time to find and take pictures on all of the Flatwood Monster Museum chairs strategically located through Sutton and Flatwoods. The pictures will make for great keepsakes.

We are quickly rolling into the Fall season, where the leaf’s start changing color and the days begin to cool off. Everyone loves this time of the year. You can get out for long rides on the country roads and site see the countryside. There is still so much t do while the weather is still good. Just imagine as it cools off during the evening as you sit out around the firepit. It will be a great time of year to do smores!

- "We had such a nice time staying here! Traveled from NW Ohio for a wedding which was held at the winery where the property is located. The host was so nice, allowing us to check in a little early & extrmemly easy to contact as well as very responsive. The property is absolutely beautiful; loved having my coffee on the balcony overlooking the mountains & woods. We have a couple suggestions that I dont think should take away from the star rating, just minor inconveniences- there was only 1 coffee mug, sparse dishes, & the grill really needed cleaned but there was no brush to clean it with. Aside from that would definitely recommend & would absolutely stay there again!"

We share the same yard. I have dogs, huskies and German shepherd. Big but friendly, all in their own kennel. They don’t bite. I let them out 2 times a day, They won’t come to your area but let you know just incase they sneak out to see you. When you park your car, my husky in her kennel will bark at you . Please don’t try to pet her if I am not there.
Guests can access the entire cabin, except for bedroom 2 ( empty room) that I already locked and I have sticker number 2 on the door.
