Spend your days relaxing in the sun, lounging in the shade, exploring the beach, watching eagles, ships, tugs go by while you curl up with a book, or take a stroll on our country lane. Less than 30 minutes from Seattle or Bellevue and 10 minutes from Boeing and thr Paine Field airport in Everett. The Haven has a private entrance in our home. Picnic Point is halfway between Edmonds and Mukilteo. The Picnic Point Park with public beach has tide pools and is 1/2 mile easy walk. When the tide is out the vast beach stretches out in front where sand dollar beds, crabs, urchins and star fish can be found hiding in the sea grass. If you're here in March and April it's common to see humpback whales going by as they feed, breach and swim between Picnic Point and the southern tip of Whidbey Island. We are minutes from Boeing at Paine Field, the largest building in the USA. Numerous Museums and historical airplanes are very close by.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. THERE ARE MANY STAIRS!
Thr Haven is in our home, which is waterfront and was built on a steep lot. Please note, as shown in the last photo, you go down a very long flight of stairs to enter the rental unit and back up those steps when you leave. If stairs are not a problem, you will enjoy unobstructed views and a beautiful setting to rest and relax.

2. THERE ARE NUMEROUS TRAINS, DAILY AND SOMEWHAT LESS AT NIGHT
Waterfront in our area means trains, and our guests will hear (and sometimes feel) trains as they go by. For some, the sound is soothing and relaxing. It's just part of the local charm on the Lane. Earplugs are used by some for sleep, and we provide a white noise machine that’s easy to select your preferred sound and choose a volume that suits your needs. A fan is also available in the room.

3. QUIET, PRIVATE LANE
Our Lane is a quiet, narrow, country Private roadway and many local residents have lived here 40+ years. The nights are extremely quiet, and we ask our guests to honor "quiet volumes" anytime after 9 pm until 7:30 am.

Dog friendly...huge fenced back yard. Super chill for people looking to wind down. But also has a large paved driveway and lot's of space for entertaining - bring the whole family :)

Close to everything - the Lighthouse and beach, Harbor Point golf course, Japanese gulch hike trail, off leash dog park, and the Sounder Train (10 mins north to Everett, 45 mins South to downtown Seattle). Also Howarth Beach off-leash dog beach is 10 mins away.

If you've stayed with us in the past we removed the sauna to make room for a new bedroom set that will provide a 1st floor queen bed "mother in law" for guests not comfortable with stairs. We now have bedding for 9 people not even counting sofa's. Plenty of room for the whole family at Chateau Indigo!

Full Lake and Ocean views from all 5 floors of this rustic hand built treasure, nestled in nature, this lake waterfront home feels like a tree house. Perched just above Picnic Point Lake, descend rope railing stairs to our bent tree entrance, continue further down stairs to patios and the lake waterfront clearing to relax. Our oasis is a hand built treasure, from the the front door tree archway, the rounded staircase or hobbit doors. A Hand made treasure with 3 decks/balconies or take a stroll to Picnic Point Park for Ocean access. Lots of stairs, and trains which run very often during the day and 2-4 times at night. Ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Loft is best for early risers, as there are no curtains. Children are allowed, however at your own risk, this home is not set up for young children. Our Wabi Sabi style envelops the wilderness surrounding Picnic Point.

It is homey & dated, so if you prefer updated modern lodging, look elsewhere, but you'd be missing out. It has everything anyone could need supply wise from kitchen supplies, toiletries, linens & food. Clarence provided bread, chicken fresh eggs, milk, applesauce, pudding, crackers, popcorn, granola bars, single packet oatmeal, bran cereal, tea bags, coffee, sugar, water bottles, brownie mix, peanut butter, & jam. This was a God send for our week stay as we didn't have to go run down food right away after a lengthy trip from the east coast. As others have mentioned, there are some house rules such as taking off your shoes before entering (they provide house slippers), & for a week+ stay asking permission to use the shared washer & dryer. WIfi code & apartment tour, house rules provided at check in. They do store some food (in freezer) & bottled wine in the a closet in the apartment. Clarence & Toni live upstairs so there are typical daily movement sounds. It is quiet at night after about 10pm. Ear plugs recommended if the sounds concern you. We never felt the house rules, item storage, or upstairs sounds made any part of our stay inconvenient. The back yard is delightful with flowers, fruit trees, chickens, squirrels, and a picnic bench. Spent a lovely afternoon watching the squirrels & listening to the birds. Words really don't do it justice. Mukilteo is a lovely small town. Staying at Clarence's is about as close to being next to the ferry as you can get. Wonderful walk from lodging down to the beach, lighthouse, & ferry terminal. Plenty of places to eat near the waterfront & in the town business district. A small retail center with Red Cup Cafe ( great little coffee shop), restaurants, a gift shop, & a local chocolate shop a half mile walk from the lodging. (Check for operating hours.) The town community center is across from the retail center & is a beautiful venue. Charming town, especially with the sun out, magnificent views of the Olympic peninsula? (Clarence correct me if I'm wrong) to the west & Mt Baker to the east. You can ask Clarence & Toni anything, they are willing to help, fun to talk with & generous. A highlight for us was Clarence & Toni sharing tree picked pears & apples, and potatoes from the garden as well as giving us our own jug of his homemade apple cider made with their apples.. It was delicious!"
