Only a 5 minute drive to Sunday River Resort's South Ridge Lodge, this new log sided 'cabin' is located in the very upscale neighborhood of Powder Ridge in Newry, Maine. NEW for 2023-2024 ski season, the cabin will come with a PARKING PASS for the lot next to the Whitecap Lodge. The entire front of the house is glass and displays three levels of spectacular views of all eight peaks of Sunday River Resort. Completed mid-December 2013, it boasts over 1500 square feet of living space spread out over three floors. This vacation rental enjoys a mix of modern facilities combined with antiques and rustic high-end decor. There are two bedrooms and two full baths as well as a loft with a bed and futon and a bunk bed in the lower level. Kirk the property manager and his crew were finishing off there preparation for our stay. He informed us a nearby lake to visit and an great restaurant called Ebinezers. I’m not sure if we were supposed but my daughters paddle-boarded the pond and had a blast. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to rent a mansion. Its well worth it"

The staircase leads you up to our loft area on Level 2 with 1 Queen bed and 2 Twins. From the Loft, you enter into the spectacular Suite. This awesome space sleeps up to 4 people, and has another kitchen and a full bathroom with a Jacuzzi bathtub. The Queen bed is nestled in the open area between the windows, for amazing mountain views right from your bed! The Suite back bedroom has 1 Tempurpedic Twin and 1 Double bed.(see image in Photos section)

- "The Mountain House is a great spot. Close to Sunday River and uniquely situated with open fields in front that give a spectacular view of Sunday River. The lodge is very comfortable- we were just two but there are beds for 6-8. Julie is great and very responsive, and also gave us great recommendations of things to do in the area as well as where to get food, etc. Highly recommend!" - "Close to mountain with great views of the slopes. 3 Min drive to base lodges. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and one bathroom. One bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and dresser, and the second has two double beds that can accommodate up to 4 people. There is also a dresser in the second bedroom and there are closets in both.

The loft area on the second level overlooks the dining area and is furnished with a pull-out couch for extra sleeping capacity.

The lower living space has walk-out doors to the yard and features a separate living room with a T.V.

Less than 1/2 hour from Bethel but feels remote. The kitchen has been upgraded with stainless steel appliances and a gas range. The home is stocked with all basic utensils, just bring your favorite groceries! (We recommend S'more ingredients because there is a wonderful outdoor fire pit just off of the porch).

Upstairs, the master bedroom and attached bath offer a private accommodation option. There is a queen sized bed, end tables, and storage as well. A second Bedroom consists of a Twin Over a Full Bunk Bed.

Additional sleeping is available in the upstairs loft as well as the downstairs sunroom.

For communal gathering space, guests will enjoy the open living area on the main living level. With tongue and groove ceiling and two large sliding patio doors, this room encompasses the surroundings to provide a rustic, “Maine Woods” feel.

NEW this year we have added a beautiful 16 by 20 foot outdoor firepit area with seating for 8! This can be used year round and even includes outdoor lighting so no fumbling in the dark for the firewood.

NARRATIVE:
This house is a special place that you will find a hard time leaving. It is purpose built to make great memories with friends and family. It's open floor plan leads from the large mud room, to the open gourmet kitchen with stainlesss appliances and soap stone countertops, to the grand room with vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, stone fireplace and a wall of windows overlooking the mountain range beyond. Flip on the 65 inch Ultra High Definition TV while you snuggle on the Italian leather couches and watch the fire roar to life, or pull up a stool at the kitchen peninsula while friends prepare a meal to remember. In the warmer months you can grab a drink and walk through the sliding doors to the wrap around deck where Adirondack chairs await.

When it is time to turn in for the night note that you have some great options. On the first floor there is a queen bedroom with gel foam mattress and plush blankets, and on the second floor you will find yourself in the sanctuary of the master suite. This area consists of the loft bedroom where you have a king bed and distressed wood furniture, as well as a large tiled shower and dual vanity sinks. Wish your friends good night from the top of the loft steps as you watch the snow fall outside through the large Palladian windows. It is going to be a great day at Sunday river tomorrow!

In the basement the kids are busy gaming on the 55 inch UHD TV, streaming movies, and playing board games before heading to their bedrooms on the same floor. These bedrooms consist of one room with two twin XL beds, and the other with a full over full bunk bed and a twin over twin bunk bed. In the morning your guests will wake up to find that their ski-socks-clad feet are warmed with the radiant heat underneath. This is also great when you emerge from the shower on a cold winters day.

Grab your ski gear hanging in the deep closets, mudroom cubbies, or in the clothes washer/dryer before heading out into the Maine wilderness. The anticipation builds as you turn down the drive and see the vastness of the Sunday River Resort where a few snowcats are finishing their nights work. The house is only 4 miles away from the Main Lodge and 5 miles from the Jordan Lodge. This gives you two great options depending on where the powder stashes are projected. The house is so close there is a good chance you will get those first tracks on this glorious ski day. Also don't worry if you chose the wrong lens on your goggles, you can always come back at lunch to quickly swap them out and get warmed by the fire.

Casita offers two spacious bedrooms, one bath accommodations with a full size and well equipped kitchen and wet bar with open access to a very comfortable dining and living room area. There is covered parking adjacent to the main entrance, no need to slog through parking lot slush or have to clear your car of snow and ice the next morning. You will enter via a large mud room where you hang up your parkas and leave you outdoor boots on the convenient boot dryers before slipping into your house slippers and proceeding upstairs. The master bedroom is equipped with a queen size bed while the “kids” room also has a queen plus a single; perfect for a family of five or two couples. The bathroom is full sized and also has a laundry center. There is high-speed Wi-Fi which will easily handle the gamer, video addict or remote office connection.

Surrounded by mountainous woodland, this darling condo has everything you need to make your stay a delightful one. There is a 50” TV, and games and jigsaw puzzles to help you pass the time in the evenings. Your modern kitchen is replete with a gas stove, pots, pans, steamer, coffee pot, toaster, basic spices, dishes and silverware. There is a private east-facing deck where you can greet the sun and start your day. Enjoy your morning coffee, which is provided by your host, Kevin. End your day with a hot cup of cocoa or a beverage of your choice. Watch the wood line for deer that just might come for a visit!

Now, for the really good stuff! We hope you brought your skis because Sunday River Ski Resort is less than 10 miles away. There is currently no resturant food delivery to the Newry Nest. I would suggest if you’re arriving late and looking to get takeout that you check local restaurants in Bethel on your way in and get it to go. For your security and and ours a security camera is being installed facing the parking area. It should be up by 15 February 2024
