The smell never left, but we bought cleaning supplies and made due. One of the nights, at 1:00 AM someone or someone(s) came and banged on the sliding glass windows of the location. There are RV's (presumably fulltime) on the same property that we assumed were responsible as we saw them all drinking late into the night nearby. The oven had no racks, just a tin platter on the bottom. We did not use it. Water pressure and temperature were good, refrigerator worked, and electricity was on. Really, the complaints lie within the smell that never went away and dealing with the neighbors playing pranks on whoever rents the place. "

Enjoy this special community from our beautiful home in Barrio De Tubac, a small community within walking distance of the artist village in Tubac, and less than a mile from the Tubac Golf Resort. As frequent VRBO guests ourselves, we know what we enjoy when staying in other’s homes, a designer home, geared towards comfort, with well-stocked supplies. We have picked out every item, from soft sheets, to bathrobes, to smart TVs that allow you to access your accounts with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. (No cable TV) You will love our 2 bedroom, 2 bath home with its’ 10 foot ceilings, gas kiva fireplace, surround sound, jetted tub, walk in shower, well stocked kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, private court yard, and back patio with comfortable seating and beautiful sunset views. You will love being able to walk, run or bike on the Historic De Anza trail, only blocks from the house, then enjoy a nice glass of wine on the patio watching an amazing Arizona sunset! You will also really enjoy visiting the historic Tumacacori mission that dates back to the late 1600’s, or just relax at the pool and hot tub which is a short walk/bike from the house. You should also spend some time browsing the many unique art galleries that line the quiet streets of the Tubac Village. Our home is perfect for a romantic getaway, where you can spend your entire trip without ever leaving Tubac. The local market is just a short walk/bike from the house and has everything you need for a gourmet meal, including specialty cheeses and a very nice wine selection. If you love golf, as we do, you can spend your days playing golf at the famous Tubac Golf Resort or at a host of other golf courses in the area (Rio Rico or Green Valley). The Golf Resort also has a Spa and a great restaurant called the Stables. Our favorite spot for dinner is the exquisite Elvira’s Restaurant – within walking distance from our home. You will be blown away by the food and ambiance at this restaurant.
Finally, if you really enjoy hiking, biking or running, there are plenty of trails within close proximity, such as Madera Canyon, Elephant Head, and in Rio Rico. Tubac is also quite famous for birding, a very popular activity on the De Anza Trail, but you don't even have to go that far, as many species visit our back yard. There are even numerous vineyards, which host a wine festival in early August each year within a reasonable driving distance. Once you visit Tubac, you will always want to come back for more!

Pedro Herrera Casita, Est. 1857

The premier historic rental property in Tubac, this charming territorial-style adobe casita, built in 1857, was home to the village’s first postmaster, Pedro Herrera. Unfortunately, Pedro and the rest of the residents were forced to flee the town for Tucson in 1861, due to repeated raids by Cochise's Apaches out of the nearby Santa Rita Mountains. The first postmaster never returned to Tubac. Today, the Pedro Herrera Casita has been lovingly restored and updated by the current owner, an internationally known novelist. It offers a comfortable, romantic retreat with all the modern conveniences, including central heat/air conditioning, and evaporative cooler, Roku streaming service, and wireless internet connection. A complimentary signed copy of one the owner's novels is offered to renters upon check-in.

We loved everything about the property and Jim, the host, has thought of everything visitors might need for their stay. We enjoyed sitting on the covered front porch and the lovely side porch. And the inside of the home is comfortable and artistically decorated. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need, so on our next visit, we plan to cook more meals there. Welcome to the "Bunkhouse", a casita that once was a genuine boarding house for cowboys and ranch hands working the "Box T” Ranch.
The bunkhouse has since been upgraded to offer two to three people all the comforts of home. - "We stayed at the Kestrel Casita for two nights and this place is amazing. We were in the area sightseeing Bisbee and Patagonia and were pleased with the cooler temperature (about 15 degrees) than what Phoenix was experiencing. The casita had everything we needed for both us humans and our doggo. The outdoor landscape created for a nice hike down to the labrynth, and we stargazed at night on the outdoor daybed. I would definitely like to stay here again if we're ever in the area again. Oh yeah, and the granola is wonderful and our doggo appreciated the toy! :-) Thanks for a great stay. You can hike and bike right out the door from our place. Below the house is Sonoita creek with an extensive hiking trail system. There are also numerous bike trails throughout the area.

Our place is your home away from home. We have been VRBO renters for many years and know exactly what we want from an outstanding VRBO experience. - "We were looking for big views and a quiet setting to spend some time away from the Seattle rain and to celebrate our 40 year wedding anniversary. We hit the jackpot! Even the cooler than expected weather did not dampen our love of our time here. The views? BIG! In all directions. The home was comfy and had everything we needed. Carew was a stellar host, even offering to cover alternative accommodations during a short power outage. We hiked below the house, locating the trail behind the white, gun shot pocked sign, then wading across the creek to find the old rail bed on the other side. We went to Patagonia 2 times to The Gathering Grounds for breakfast and those Pecan Bars. (I brought 4 home to freeze!) We explored many other hiking opportunities in the area, ate in Tubac at Wisdom's (Tuesdays is 2 for 1 Margaritas). We played cribbage and slept well in the very comfy beds. We grilled twice, great grill, and spent one hilarious night out by the fire table with friends of 40 years reminiscing and laughing until we ached. We got in the hot tub almost every sunrise and sunset. It does not get more picture perfect than that setting. It was a wonderful trip....one of the best view places we have ever rented. There is a 2 car garage. The back yard is completely fenced. The home is located on 20 acres, private, beautiful view of Elephant Head/Mount Hopkins. Wildlife often wanders through the property. It's about a 20 minute drive to Green Valley, no street lights, easy access!
The home has a washer and dryer, master bedroom has a king size (med firm) bed, 2nd bedroom has a queen size (firm) mattress. 1 extra set of sheets are in each bedroom. Bathrooms include three towels, two hand towels and wash clothes.
There is high speed internet at the home. The television offers local channels, Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus and Prime TV.

Having lived in the area previously, we did not use Debbie for local information, but she made herself available if we had any needs or questions. - "Our goal was to social distance in a warm and sunny place which was accomplished. The home met our needs. We loved both water features. Green Valley is away from the bustle of the big cities. Canoa Hills and Torres Blancas golf courses were minutes away. We were not able to access all the amenities of recreation centers because of the pandemic which was disappointing but we concentrated on biking, hiking and golf. We did take a Pickleball class which was fantastic and a new activity for us to look into when we go home. Too bad we were not able to return next year due to VRBO allowing a reservation to be expected without the permission of the homeowners. We certainly wanted to return next year. The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.
