She spent her days basking in the sun on the back porch, the Huachuca Mountains stretched before her, with hens and geese gathered gently at her feet. She wasn’t afraid of them, and they seemed to sense her calm presence, meeting her openness with their own. She even trained them, in a way, simply by being so steady and kind. Her visit reminded us: this place has no clock, no pressure — just space to be.

Many guests also find themselves naturally drawn into the villa’s gentle rhythms — watering plants, watching birds, or even putting the chickens to bed under Michael’s guidance. These moments are not scheduled activities, but the organic flow of a living home. For some, sitting quietly in the garden is enough; for others, the joy is in tending a feeder or planting a seed. Everything here is cared for, and guests are welcome to join at the level they feel comfortable.

A Note on the Living Home

The villa is alive with nature, and its rhythms are part of what makes it unique. A small flock of friendly hens (and occasionally geese) live here, cared for daily. Among them are Lavender Orpingtons — including Daniel, a strikingly handsome rooster known for being calm, confident, and gentlemanly, and Gretchen, our elder hen — as well as Swedish Flower hens, each one beautifully feathered like a living painting. Guests are often surprised by how exotic and elegant they appear, more like companions in a garden resort than ordinary farm birds.

Michael also tends the garden throughout the year so that it can remain beautiful and abundant for everyone. This includes watering in the evenings during the warm months, planting in spring, and cleaning and preparing the soil in fall and winter. These visits are short, respectful, and always coordinated with your comfort in mind. Many guests appreciate seeing this work, saying it adds to the sense of staying in a true home rather than a hotel. If you prefer complete privacy, simply let Michael know in advance and he will adjust.

This is a very spacious 2 bedroom living area. I added it’s own private entrance. There is no access to any other part of the house. I have modified one bedroom to include a mini kitchen, it does NOT have a stove. I provide a hot plate, small refrigerator, microwave, toaster, blender & coffee maker, as well as basic dinning needs, plates, utensils & cups. Very quiet paved street & mountain view.

The house sits right on the outside of Sierra Vista city limits. It’s located off of Ramsey Road, between Hwy 90 but before Moson. This is NOT a guest house. Both rooms share a interior wall to the part of the house that I stay in.

Bear Mountain Ranch (formally Bays Ranch) sits on a 2 acre parcel in Brown Canyon. The house was built in 1966 and was originally owned by the local priest. A small shrine can still be seen in the rear of the house. The vibe of the property is rustic mountain/country with antique decor throughout. Flat screen TVs with Roku access to YouTube TV and other streaming apps in all bedrooms. Strong wifi throughout house. BMR is also conveniently located a short 30 minute drive from both Bisbee to the SE and Tombstone to the NE. Both are great day trips.

- "This home was large and comfortable for our family of 8, plus a dog, many bedrooms and living spaces where people could find a nook to relax. We came to enjoy the bird watching in the area, and especially enjoyed walking/hiking from the house on the dirt road, E Brown Canyon Rd. The bird feeders were really well used, and fun for us, we recommend putting up oranges for the Scott's Orioles. The kitchen was quite well supplied, good appliances, washer and drier, bathrooms clean and functional, comfortable beds, good yard for the dog. Warm at night even with temps below freezing. The Hummingbird House features 2 King bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with an overall footprint of approximately 800 sq. ft. Both bedrooms offer King size beds. The unit has a fully equipped, full size eat in kitchen, living room and multiple storage closets . Wifi is included along with a smart TV in the living room to stream all of your favorites. It is currently cooled with an evaporative cooler to keep you cool on those warm days. A ventless propane wall heater unit along with electric fireplace will keep you warm in the winter. The kitchen is stocked with all the things you need to prepare your daily meals including a drip coffee maker, French press, ground coffee, blender, microwave, gas stove and oven. The front porch features a table for 4 and couch so you can enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. Cell service for all carriers with one or two bars. The cabin does come with free Wifi.
Roaming the property you will find an abundance of birds, up to 170 different species move through the area, Coues whitetail deer, Goulds turkeys, coatimundi, skunks, and squirrels. Ramsey Canyon is known as hummingbird capital of the US we have had 14 species on our property. Check our eBird hotspot for the latest submission.
In the summer at night, the long nose bats come out and will give you quite a show with their impressive aerial moves. Also due to the nature of the property, at night there could be coatimundi, javelinas, skunks, raccoons, ringtail cats and rarely a bear. Past guests have enjoyed setting up their trail camera overnight to capture photos of these elusive animals.
We have created over a mile of nature walking trails within our 9 acres. We have carefully chosen paths to include points of interest including mountain and valley views and a 1/4 mile walk along seasonal Ramsey Creek. We offer guided tours for an additional fee. In order to enjoy these trails within the property you must adhere to staying on the clearly marked paths.

The property is located only 1/4 of a mile from the world renowned Ramsey Canyon Preserve. Once at the preserve you can hike within their trail or hop on the Hamburg trail that is part of the Coronado National Forest.
The Arizona Folklore Preserve is even closer, they offer live weekend music with a reservation. Down the road is Brown Canyon Ranch that is a popular spot for hiking, mountain biking and bird watching.
All within driving distance of approximately 40 mins or less, are popular Arizona destinations such as Tombstone, Bisbee, Kartchner Caverns, San Pedro Riparian Area, Coronado National Memorial and Sonoita - Arizona's wine country and much more.

We have a beautiful and popular property with 3 Bird Gardens to see all the amazing birds of the canyon. We also offer over a mile of nature walking trails with additional bird feeders and seating throughout on our 9 acre property. We offer guided property tours to learn more about the local flora and fauna for an additional fee. We have carefully chosen paths to include points of interest including mountain and valley views and a walk along our seasonal creek. In order to enjoy these trails within the property you must adhere to staying on the clearly marked paths and no trespassing onto neighboring properties.

A short walk up the road, .25 miles, to the Ramsey Canyon Preserve provides you with plenty of hiking and birding fun and hosts a trailhead for the Hamburg Trail that connects to numerous Huachuca mountain trails. Also nearby is Brown Canyon Ranch which has more hiking and biking trails for you to explore and different birds to enjoy.

Please note that by booking your reservation that you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ramsey Canyon Cabins and it its agents from any claim of injury, damage or illness during your reservation. If you are injured or are need help, call 911. Ramsey Canyon Cabins, LLC is not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guests. Outdoor security cameras are in use on the property for your protection and safety, please do not tamper, cover or unplug the system. No smoking or vaping inside the cabin. A $350 fee will be assessed if smoking/vaping occurs in the cabin. Please contain your cigarette filters in your own outside receptacle and remove when you leave the property. If cigarette filters are found on the property you will be assessed a $50 fee. No illicit drugs of any kind will be tolerated. No pets in the cabins or on the property. If a pet is found on site, you will be asked to leave and no refund will be issued. Absolutely no parties/large gatherings on the premises at any time. Day guests must be pre approved by the owners. If a party occurs on premises, the guests will be asked to leave and no refund will be issued. Quiet hours are from 9:00p.m. until 8:00a.m.. Please respect our neighbors and the wildlife and keep noise and music to a minimum. An additional cleaning charge will be assessed if the cabin is left in unacceptable condition. If items on the property or in the cabins are damaged or missing, those items will be replaced using the damage deposit. No fires are allowed anywhere on the property. You agree to occupy the property only from the start date until the end date booked and paid for.

I will miss the turkeys and the deer and watching the turkeys roost in the sycamore trees was a magical experience. They owners are extremely personable and all communication was great. A really wonderful and special place!"

Welcome to Hummingbird House! This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom ranch home is located on a spacious 1.5 acre lot and surrounded by spectacular views of the Huachucha and Mule Mountains. This stylish and well appointed home offers the perfect retreat for your getaway. Hummingbird House is 10 minutes from Ft Huachuca Buffalo Soldier Gate and just a short drive to hiking trails, Bisbee, Tombstone and Sonoita. Come stay at our favorite southern AZ retreat!

By booking this property, renter agrees to the following house rules:

HOUSE RULES
-No parties, events or large gatherings.
-No illegal activity anywhere on the property. This applies to off road vehicle restrictions, illicit drug use, and internet activity.
-Max number of guests, including children, is 6. Violation of this rule is subject to a $50 penalty per person per night.
-No shoes in the house.
-No animals of any kind.
-No smoking.
-No pots, pans or sharp knives in the dishwasher. Please wash these items by hand.
-No food or drinks in the bedrooms.
-Quiet hours from 10 pm-7 am.
-Primary renter minimum age requirement is 25.
-If you break or damage something, please let me know and arrange for its replacement or repair.
-Renters must vacate the property at the check out time. There is a $100 per hour fee if the renter fails to vacate the property on time for any reason.

- "My husband and I had a peaceful stay in Sierra Vista while taking care of some family business. After full days, we loved enjoying a cocktail on the back porch with a view of the mountains and the gorgeous sunsets. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The house is spacious, comfortable, and very well furnished. The kitchen is very well equipped and works well. The beds and linens were a dream and everyone slept well each night. Amazing bath towels. Lush. For us the highlight was the patio outback. With few exceptions, we spent each evening on the patio to watch the sunset over the mountain. The grill on the patio was awesome. The view was simply amazing and we will remember it forever. As silly as it sounds we were sad our last night on the patio! There were so many things to do in Sierra Vista and we tried to explore them all. When our children and grandchildren came to visit, they loved the area also and the house. This is definitely a five star house and we hope to stay there again. Finally the owners were some of the best we have ever dealt with. Kind, friendly and very responsive. They felt like family."
