The house is characterized by its spacious interior, its good and high-quality equipment, the modern Air/Con and heating systems in all rooms as well as an exceptionally good building structure and thermal insulation. This guarantees a pleasant room temperature in winter and on hot summer days.

Everything is of good quality and carefully selected and has everything you need for a comfortable stay and a relaxing holiday. We attach great importance to the cleaning and disinfection of our holiday accommodations.

The large organic community pool is 9x4m, has shallow steps across the entire width of the pool that can also be used as a bench and a 4x2m paddling pool. It is only used by the guests of our three holiday homes and is naturally chlorinated with salt without chemicals.

The lawns around the pool are so extensive that each accommodation has its own area, its own large parasol and each guest has their own Lafuma relax sun lounger for exclusive use.

The entire pool area and sunbathing areas are protected so that small children cannot go to the water unsupervised. In the extensive gardens there is a tower slide, a giant tire swing and a playground with a badminton net.

During the winter we like to cheer our guests on in our Finnish sauna and also operate the pool all year round.

Maria and I live about 50m away, hidden from view by the rich vegetation, in the large main house of the property, in which there are two other holiday apartments.

THE ENVIRONMENT
The holiday villa is settled into the real heart of the Alpujarra, in the middle of the fertile southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada and its impressive flora and fauna. This green Garden of Eden stands out above all for its strong contrasts between Arabic, terraced and irrigated cultural landscapes and its wild alpine landscapes as well as for its year-round mild and sunny microclimate.

You can go on hikes through the valley or to the surrounding hills and mountains directly from the holiday home. Excursions to the picturesque mountain villages or to the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada can be made by car. The spectacular mountain range reaches a height of 3,484 m and is home to the most diverse flora in its five climatic zones between the subtropical coastal region and its glacier as of the clearest starry sky in Europe .

Órgiva offers numerous street cafes and restaurants, small shops, a colorful weekly market and a market hall which offers al kind of fresh groceries on fish, meat, vegetable and herb stalls, as well as a sound infrastructure of small grocery stores, organic shops, ATMs, a post office and a small emergency hospital. We like to describe Orgiva as a "normal", i.e. naturally grown village with a touch of New Age, but not as touristy.

ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS IN THE AREA
Blessed with plenty of sun and mild weather all year round, this region offers an endless variety of possibilities, activities and holiday arrangements. The Mediterranean environment - part fertile cultural landscape, part wild nature - between the sunny coast and high mountains has its own character and culture. It is consistently green in winter and also in midsummer and an ideal spot to explore the real Andalusia, away from the tourist hustle and bustle.

There are inexhaustible possibilities for the nature lover. Countless hiking routes lead through olive and orange groves, past picturesque mountain villages, vineyards and wineries, through forests, wide valleys and narrow gorges, to crystal-clear mountain streams, spring lagoons and snow-capped peaks.

The nearby coast offers in addition to lively coastal towns many small and hidden bays. Some have only a small fish restaurant and others have only sand or rocks. Some can only be reached on foot.

This region offers all year round - even in the winter season - the possibility of relaxation and all kind of different activities as well as its varied gastronomic offer. Because in every season the region lives to the fullest and sights, cafes, restaurants and fish restaurants on the beaches are open all year round.

The picturesque student city of Granada is only 50km away and is an inexhaustible source of beauty and culture. In addition to the countless sights of its Moorish history and its UNESCO World Cultural Heritages, it has everything that a vital historical metropolis can offer.

The prices shown refer to the use of the entire holiday facility (accommodation, garden, swimming pool and parking space) for 4 adults and are "all inclusive", i.e. they include all additional costs and the service of a holiday accommodation such as internet, firewood, gas, electricity , beds made up, bedside rugs, all towels, kitchen towels, sponge, washing-up liquid, washing powder, soap, shampoo and toilet paper as well as a small 'basic pantry' with our homemade organic olive oil, vinegar, salt, spices, coffee, tea and sugar.

Each extra bed is charged at €10 per person/night, children under 2 are free.

PETS
Well-behaved pets are generally welcome, but must know that under no circumstances may they jump on chairs, sofas or beds, disturb other people or soil the property. If you arrive with pets, we can ask for a deposit of 150€, which will be returned on the day of departure.
We only charge an additional fee of 25€ for an extra deep cleaning.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept dog breeds classified as dangerous.

If you want to spend your vacation in a traditional Andalusian house, in a completely private setting in the Alpujarras of Granada, then this house could be the ideal choice. It offers ample space for the whole family to enjoy their leisure time and relax after a day spent discovering the beauty of the surroundings. Additionally, the house is situated on a four-hectare estate with several trails to explore, surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees.

The layout of the house is typical of those in the mountains of Andalusia: it features a living room with a fireplace and a fully equipped open-plan kitchen with a dining table. The three bedrooms provide plenty of space for the five family members to make the most of the quiet nights and regain their strength. There is one bedroom with a double bed, another bedroom with two single beds, and another with a single bed. A bathroom with a spacious shower completes the amenities of the house, which is also heated by radiators.

Outside, hedges and high walls enclose the property, thus ensuring complete privacy and security for the entire family. A spacious porch hosts an outdoor dining area, and the backyard is connected to a lower level via steps. Los Olivos is a self catering cortijo (villa) set within the grounds of 'Finca El Gales', a 5 acre relaxed olive, almond and fig plantation located on the southern foothills of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountain range. Los Olivos has private access and its location offers guests stunning 360 degree views. It is the perfect secluded location for a 'get away from it all' holiday. Only 10 minutes drive or a 40 minute walk to the busy market town of Orgiva, you can access some excellent restaurants, tapas bars (still free in the province of Granada) all amenities, and the lively Thursday street market. Los Olivos is surrounded by various terraces, a totally private pool and a large covered patio with a bbq. Outside dinning furniture, sunloungers, beach chairs, shade and pool toys are provided by us. Mother Nature has provided the cleanest air in Europe, views to die for and the flora and fauna of southern Spain (watch out for the eagles! ). We fell in love with this area, will you?

Outside: Los Olivos is set in a 5 acre site so guests are free to roam, and explore. A 40 sqm covered patio, with views across the valley is the perfect place to enjoy al fresco dinning, relaxing with a good book in the cooling mountain breezes, or build a playdo elephant if you are 4!!. Sunloungers, beach chairs, plastic cups and plates are available for your use around the pool which is completely private and not overlooked at all. The pool is fully tiled, cleaned once a week and filtered every day and is open weather permitting from April to October - It is covered with a safety cover at all other times.

Los Olivos has its own private track some 400 meters from the owners house which as with all rural tracks in Spain it´s bumpy in places, but passable by all cars. Our main Cerro Negro track has had the first km concreted (Sep 2008) so its then only 700m to the owners house which is well maintained. There is no passing traffic as we are at the end of a very quiet track, the nearest neigbour is about 600m away. It really is as tranquil as this area gets, yet its only 10 minutes, 4km (by car) to the village of Orgiva which has everything you would need for your holiday.

We are always looking to improve the garden areas (as if the views are not enough ! ), and have added two new terraces to the rear of the house in 2010 and planted cherrys, lemons, oranges, plums, peach, pear, various flowers including spanish jasmine, bougainvillea, hibiscus, ivy, honeysuckle, red and white trumpets, and various others which i can't name (but liked the look of. We have also planted buffalo grass (no small task on an Andalucian hill side ) around the house on the lower terraces, its into its 2nd year and starting to cover nicely. Figs, almonds and olives grow all around and anything may be picked and eaten when in season.
We added a large chicken run last year, 2011 and now have 4 different types of cockrels and around 20 hens. Fresh organic eggs are almost always available, and we are also breeding for meat birds at the moment so fresh organic chicken is on the cards !
Next year we are looking (time permitting ) to add a few pigs and boost vegtable production, so the small holding seems to be getting bigger ! Come and enjoy.

Everything was perfect (the Finca itself, the view, the weather, the pool,.. etc) we could really enjoy our time there in every way possible (sunrise, sunset, the Stars at the evening fortunately also full moon) The location of the Finca is good, about 15 minutes away from Orgiva, maximal one hour from Granada or Motril. It was a quite adventure to drive the road up to the Finca. Sonia and Ieuan are very nice and helpful people, they provided us with everything we had needed for our Stay. Things to see and do: The Alpujarras offers a wide range of activities including horse riding, quad biking, paragliding, bird-watching and skiing in winter. You can visit the city of Granada with the famous Alhambra (we recommend you book in advance for this most popular attraction, advance tickets can be bought on https://tickets.alhambra-patronato.es), the caves at Nerja and the spa town of Lanjaron. Mini Hollywood near Almeria is 2 hours away, or just explore the villages of the region with their whitewashed cottages and bougainvillaea covered walls.
For the golfers there is an excellent course at Motril, It is adjoining the beach so for the rest of the family who dont want to play can enjoy other relaxation. There is another course, Santa Clara in Otura.

Take it easy: For those who just want to 'chill' it is a great area to relax and do nothing, read a book, take a dip in the pool with the stunning mountains as a backdrop.

Orgiva: Orgiva is a busy market town with several supermarkets, banks, 2 internet cafes and a variety of bars and restaurants.. Market day is Thursday.

We spent a lot of time relaxing in the lovely pool, surrounded by fruit trees of every type, and with a view to the mountains on both sides of the valley. But the property is also well located for day trips to Granada, Nerja and the beach - or for shorter trips to Orgiva and the surrounding mountain villages (Sopurtujar - the village of the witches - was particularly fun) Sheila and Jack were lovely hosts - they were always available to offer suggestions, lend us parasols for the beach etc - but were not intrusive. They hosted us for some fabulous tapas and our boys loved the two dogs, especially the regular visits from Missy!"
