Welcome to our haven of trees and seclusion. Our unique 3-story designer cabin is located right on the bear trail at the edge of Mt. Pinos in Pine Mountain Club. It features a wrap-around deck with BBQ, floor to ceiling windows, wood burning fireplace and soaking tub. Sleeps 4-6. Come up for a weekend of hiking, cooking, off-roading, golf, tennis, swimming, snow play or relaxing by the fire. This well-appointed house is spread over three levels. The main level houses a kitchen stocked for cooking with Viking range, dishwasher, wine fridge and dining table that seats six. Outside a wrap-around deck features views of the pines, gas fueled BBQ and rocking chairs. The main level also hosts a full-sized bath with free standing tub and small outside deck for star gazing with the house telescope. Pine Mountain Club is a designated dark zone so star gazing is excellent. Relax in front of a wood burning fire in the living room. The living room has a TV for streaming (Netflix, Prime), DVD players and tons of movies, darts and board games. Floor to ceiling windows offer panoramic forest and mountain views. The upstairs master bedroom is located on a third floor open loft, with a king sized bed, full bath with shower and a small outside deck for safe bear viewing. Downstairs you will find another bedroom with queen sized bunkbeds (all bedding in the home is 100% sateen cotton), sheepskin rug and designed bath with shower. Downstairs also includes laundry room and small viewing deck. Note that the property has 80 steps to the front door. It can be difficult to access.

With stylish Scandinavian mid century furniture and a vintage audiophile sound system, you can unwind by the roaring open fire - your ‘hygge’ / cozy-contentment levels will be well and truly met! Quite deliberately, we don’t have a television at the cabin, however with unlimited high speed internet you can stream to your heart’s content - bring your own blu rays for the movie screen, or use our complimentary Netflix account. We also have a well stocked cupboard full of board games.

You can take your mountain relaxation to another level - the cabin has a traditional Finnish sauna! With proven wellness properties, there’s nothing more rejuvenating than sitting in the fresh air after a sauna. Towels provided for Sauna are placed in a bin in the changing room next to the sauna, also there are robes provided.

Set back off the road, the cabin is secluded and private. However, in just 5 minutes walk you can be in the charming Pine Mountain Club village, with its restaurants and shops.

At 6000 ft, Pine Mountain Club is a beautiful mountain community nestled at the base of Mt. Pinos and surrounded by the Los Padres National Forest. Home to the rare Californian Condor and Southern California’s clearest night skies, with fresh pine scented mountain air - it’s hard to believe you are 90 mins drive from downtown Los Angeles. But best of all the Pine Mountain Clubhouse has a swimming pool, golf course, games room, bar and cafe - all of which you can access with our guest pass.

Within 20 minutes from the cabin, you can be atop Mt. Pinos - a mountain paradise in summer and winter wonderland in winter with a manned Nordic ski base. If you want snow play, there’s no better place. Although, we do know a few other secret spots ; )
(and we do have a sled you can use under the deck).

Fall is fabulous in Pine Mountain Club!

Additional Amenities: We own the property adjacent to the cabin, a park-like space available to our guests! It contains a horseshoe pit, horseshoes included; a rock pond with a waterfall (filled in the spring); a picnic table; many rustic and well-used seating areas and benches; three covered benches for reading or relaxation; a wishing well; a windmill; walking paths; and decorative garden art. We hope our guests enjoy this new property and new feature of Anya's Cottages.

Our cabin has been used by more than one film crew (see Frazier Park Recut and The No Problem Zone with Eric Roberts!) and for a number of club retreats. It borders the protected national forest and has a soothing, seasonal stream on the property. It is private and tucked in tall pines but is walking distance to the village where you can shop for groceries, browse for antiques, go to the local coffeehouse, dine, and listen to local music.

The cabin has undergone a deep cleaning and an attractive renovation, which includes TV with Roku; spa tile in the main bathroom; a rain shower head; Pergo flooring up and downstairs; a full-sized stove, oven, and new hood; programmable coffeemaker; vacuum cleaner, mop, and broom; some new furniture and decorations; new glasses, knives, and pot and pan set; small coffee grinder; brand new blender; brand new electric kettle; DVD player and some DVD's; log bed for the second bedroom (now in addition to the one in the primary bedroom); IKEA twin bed and mattresses; some new pillows--both down and hypo-allergenic; and, new fixtures in the downstairs bath; new paint throughout, new sheets, pillowcases, comforters, and towels. All carpets are brand new! But, most importantly: we have hooked up the new propane heater! And, what a difference it makes. Having gas heat in the bedroom/main bath area keeps you more toasty than most of the cabins do which tend to have electric heaters here in PMC. And, upstairs, the wood stove keeps you as warm as you'd like! There are two large ceiling fans in the upstairs living area and plenty of ventilation. And, we now have air conditioning.

This 1200+ square foot, two-story cabin has two bedrooms (one with a queen-sized log bed and a twin, the other with a full-sized log bed and a twin); two fold-out sleeping pads; a big couch; one-and-one-half baths; is paneled in knotty pine throughout; and, filled with authentic vintage mountain furnishings, antiques, and cozy quilts. It also has several decks where you can relax in pure solitude and privacy and enjoy the tranquil scenery. But, we also have Starlink installed.

Be sure to visit Fern's Lake which is half a block away. Kids, bring your fishing poles (barbless catch and release)! In winter, you can sled just steps behind the property.

The clubhouse in the village offers many activities and amenities, including golf, a new outdoor pool (open from Memorial Day to October), a bistro, and a recreation room for the children. Mount Abel (Cerro Noroeste) and Mount Pinos (over 8800 feet) are nearby. Pine Mountain Club also offers a number of festivals throughout the year. Guests will be allowed the use of complementary passes. They must be returned to the wood holder on the green desk in the downstairs hall.

GUESTS WILL BE CHARGED $100 (unfortunately, that is not a typo) FOR EACH MISSING POOL PASS (the white magnetic card). There is no exception. The HOA has changed its policy. Those are the fees that owners will be charged for each missing pool pass. So, please be extra careful about that so that you won’t be charged. The pool charges a $5.00 fee per day per user.

The cabin sits at 5400 feet, so come and enjoy the snow in the winter, the bright blue skies and sunshine in the spring and summer, and the colors in autumn. You will not be disappointed.

Enjoy an easy inexpensive weekend getaway in this rustic mountain cabin just an hour and a half from LA, halfway between the I-5 at the Grapevine and Santa Maria on the coast. Located on a cul-de-sac in Pine Mountain Club, a private community in the Los Padres National Forest. 35 minutes from Pyramid Lake and an hour from Magic Mountain.

Available for rent any time. $160/night, 2 night minimum. 3 night minimum at higher rate some holiday periods. 5 person maximum, including children and infants.

There is normally no added cleaning fee for your rental because I rent this as a HOUSEKEEPING CABIN - GUESTS PROVIDE THEIR OWN SHEETS, TOWELS AND FIREWOOD AND CLEAN THE CABIN WHEN LEAVING. There's no washer/dryer at the cabin so guests provide their own linens. Cleaning is easy - I provide a simple checklist and all cleaning supplies. My manager will check the cabin when you leave.

My cabin is located on two lots on a cul-de-sac, total 2/3 acre, and backs up to a green belt, so it feels very private. All knotty pine interior with lodge-like furnishings. Two large bedrooms - one with a queen bed, one with a full and a twin; high chair; one bathroom with combination tub/shower; stone fireplace; large deck overlooking wooded area. Large well-equipped kitchen including blender, coffee grinder, microwave, crock pot, pots and pans, condiments in the fridge - everything but a dishwasher! Beautiful stained glass window in living room with scene of local hills. Two smart TVs for streaming, plus books, board games and puzzles. Dual-pane windows for comfort summer and winter. Wifi internet connection and Magic Jack phone for domestic calls (at the moment there is only Verizon cell service in PMC - now Spectrum cell service works off Verizon towers.)

Rental includes access to beautiful mountain golf course; swimming pool in summer months; catch-and-release fishing in Fern Lake, a 20 minute walk away; tennis courts; basketball and volleyball court; children's playground; clubhouse with video game room, restaurant, lounge with wifi and live music on weekends.

Village business area has restaurants, gas station, market, laundromat, post office; gift shops, internet cafe plus seasonal festivals and fairs. Hiking, sledding and cross country skiing on Mount Pinos (8800') 25 minutes away, and trail rides at a jousting school 20 miles away. Just across the street from the cabin are the Snowflake Trails - a lovely wooded area with pathways leading to the village, and rustic tables under the trees - an easy woodsy walk without getting in the car, especially nice for little kids.

In the winter I provide sleds, and you are welcome to use the extra boots and gloves for adults and kids that I keep in a closet downstairs. There is no smoking in the cabin.

Refundable $200 cleaning/security deposit required to hold reservation; deposit will be returned in full once the cabin has been checked and found clean and undamaged.

Roads are very well maintained by Pine Mountain Club but weather can change quickly in the mountains so be prepared with 4-wheel drive or chains in winter. Rarely, during snowy weather the CHP may stop you from driving in to PMC or up to Mt. Pinos if you don't carry chains, even if you're not required to put them on.

Our Cabin sweet cabin is ready for you to enjoy. The cabin has a very private location surrounded by the forest on 3 sides (no direct neighbors). We can accommodate 6 guests with a California King in the bedroom, sofa bed in the living room and another sofa bed in the den. We also have air mattresses if needed for extra sleeping areas. Cabin sweet cabin has wood paneling, beams and tile and wood flooring making it very rustic and cozy with views of the woods and mountains out every window. There is a wrap around deck with a table and chairs to enjoy the view and your morning coffee. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, breakfast bar, living room with sofa (converts to queen size bed) flat screen tv, dvd player, stereo system and wood stove. The den has a desk area and a sofa bed (opens to a queen bed). Upstairs you will find the bedroom with a California King sized bed, a futon, another tv with smart tv apps as well as a walk in closet, dresser, antique armoire and the bathroom with tub/shower. All linens, towels and blankets are supplied for you. There is a small fenced back yard with patio and bbq. We do allow pets on approval with additional fee and we supply a pet crate if needed for your traveling pet’s convenience. Outside the fenced yard is a nature path for exploring and lots of room for outdoor play and snow play in winter. There is a second deck downstairs with a table and chairs to enjoy the outdoors. Our cabin has wifi, netflix and a nice dvd collection, board games and 3 room heaters as well as a wood burning stove. Pine Mountain Club is only a hour from the San Fernando Valley, 45 minutes from Six Flags Magic Mountain (great hotel alternative for visiting the park), and about 30 minutes from Pyramid Lake for fishing, boating and water sports. There is a lot to do right in Pine Mountain. We have a park with playground, basketball courts, baseball field as well as our Clubhouse offering seasonal swimming pool, golf course (with golf cart rentals), tennis courts, game room with foos ball, ping pong and pool tables as well as video games and wifi access. The Clubhouse also has a bistro for dining/cocktails while visiting and live music on weekends. Full access to the Clubhouse is included with your stay. Currently pool and clubhouse following Covid-19 state restrictions. Catch and release fishing at Fern Lake as well as horseback riding in the summer. Our lovely mountain home is perched high in the mountains of Pine Mountain Club. Take in expansive views from two large decks, one on each level. The house is well-equipped with up to date amenities and wifi suitable for working from home. Beautiful hiking trails and wildlife attracts nature lovers and creative people alike. The village is peaceful and has club amenities for guests to enjoy.
This space is comfortable and has multiple living areas to accommodate guests who want to enjoy separate living room activities such as movies, reading or board games without feeling crowded. An open floor plan on the main level combines the living room, kitchen, and dining area, guest full bath and a separate queen-size bedroom and full bath. Downstairs you will find a full-size bedroom, living room and full bath. Large decks on both levels and a large covered front porch allow for full sun or shaded outdoor leisure.

The driveway is long with a steep entrance which may require all-wheel drive or chains when it snows. You are required to carry chains with you in the winter. Due to the presence of bears, precautions with food and bear attractants must be observed.
Due to the steep balconies, this home cannot be rented to people with children under 12.

Romance in the Pines is a cozy, hidden gem located 6200 ft high, surrounded by 100 ft pine trees and over 300 year old oak trees. This magical 2-story cabin sits on a half-acre lot with pines growing right through the large deck. The interior features raw cedar walls, gorgeous wood laminate floors, the comfiest fireplace, carpeted bedrooms and large spectacular view windows. You can have your morning coffee in the enchanted garden and enjoy sunset on the deck with a complimentary bottle of wine.

Other things to note
Remember, you're in the Los Padres National Forest and there is a lot of wildlife up here! Between March and October, there is always a possibility of seeing California black bears. They are mostly nocturnal, so if you ever see the large motion-sensor light come on below the deck at night, it almost certainly is going to be wildlife (bear, deer, fox, raccoon, even mountain lions, etc). The light will stay on for about 40 seconds. Never attempt to interact or feed any wildlife.

Also, never leave any food or food wrappers, or anything that smells like food in your cars during these months (March-Nov.). Wildlife can find it easier than you think, and can make a mess trying to get to it!
And never leave any bags of trash with food/wrappers, etc anywhere outside overnight. The animals and critters will find it!

Additional rules
1. No shoes in the house. Please take off your shoes at the door and relax.
2. No pets, smoking, candles allowed on property. $350 fee for presence of pets or indoor smoking/vaping. This is our home and we have serious allergies.
3. Please do not check in before 3 p.m. or check out after 11 a.m. A fee of $100 dollars will be charged for early check in or late checkout without prior arrangements.
4. No children allowed under 7 years old, no exceptions. The cabin is not suitable/safe for small children. There are large spaces between railing supports on interior stairway, which children can fit through. Outside is steep, rocky, uneven terrain with big dropoffs.
5. No loud music that neighbors can hear.
6. Please park car in driveway, not on gravel or in cul de sac.
7. Always keep screen on fireplace closed, and flue open.
8. Please put all food waste/scraps in trash under left side of kitchen counter, not in garbage disposal.
9. Never leave any trash/garbage outside. In Pine Mountain Club it is forbidden to leave trash outside. This will invite wild animals like bears, bobcats, deers...etc. on the property. Wildlife will make a mess of it.
10. Please take your trash when you leave. You can take your trash to PMC Transfer Station in town.
11. Due to the presence of bears and other wildlife, you are advised against leaving any sort of food or food wrappers inside your vehicle overnight.
13. During winter, we ask that you dial the thermostat in the hallway to 45 degrees before you check out, but do not turn it off. During summer, it is unlikely you will need the heater so it should remain off.
14. Please never feed or leave food out for any wildlife.
15. Please wash all your dirty dishes and place them to original places.
16. PMC Guest passes are provided in order to use club house amenities like golf, tennis, pool areas. Guest passes must be returned upon departure. $25 fee will be charged to not returned guest passes.
17. Never leave the outside door open, always be aware of the wildlife around you and respect their environment.
18. Because the house is located in the Los Padres National Forest, It is not allowed to have outside fires and fireworks in the property. It is strictly prohibited.
19. Self check-in with key-box.
You’ll need to bring your own firewood, although we provide starter firewood in the rack to the right of the fireplace. We can provide phone numbers for local firewood sales upon request. The firewood stacked on the deck is for sale at $10 a bundle. The wood in the yard is off limits.

The space
The Mountain Hideaway is a rustic mountain cabin, with an updated seventies/modern vibe, in a private location ideal to enjoy a wonderful mountain get-away.
As you enter you will appreciate the large windows with forest views and soaring beamed ceilings.
We have a brand new and very efficient pellet stove in the main room that you can easily maintain an even temperature as well as there are 2 working electric wall heaters downstairs and the upstairs bedrooms have radiant heat in the ceilings that will keep you very warm at night.The kitchen is open to the great room and has a convenient breakfast bar. The main level has a full sized guest bathroom, and good size laundry room stocked with laundry supplies. From the great room head up a few stairs and you will find both the guest bedroom and the large master bedroom which has a romantic western facing balcony to enjoy the sunsets and and it's own bath. The master bedroom is oversized and has a second TV screen. There are two smart tv’s ready to connect to your Netflix or other streaming accounts. (There is also an HDMI cable below the living room TV that you can use for direct connection to your device.)
Both the upstairs bedrooms have radiant heating in the ceilings to keep you warm and toasty. There is a front porch with beautiful views of the pine tree lined mountains across the valley, ideal for enjoying the fresh mountain air. Behind the home there is a stand alone deck nestled into the hillside in a very private location perfect for relaxing and maybe some stargazing at night;)

Our Hideaway is perfect for one or two couples or a small family as we cannot accommodate more than (4) occupants at any one time.

There is a beautiful newly installed community pool located at the community center off the main road (Mil Protreo Hwy.) as you come in to town. Just past the golf course there is a parking lot to the right.

*This is a mountain location and conditions may be snowy in the Winter months. Always check the local weather service and road conditions for Pine Mountain Club before you leave, as chains/and or 4wd may be required on your tires before entering Pine Mountain Club. This typically happens after a snow storm. Although the roads and streets will be plowed, we are at the end of a moderately long steep driveway which may still have snow/ice on it.
Although rare, if Interstate Highway 5 is closed on the day of your check-in due to weather conditions, you’ll be able to switch your booking for a future date or get a refund.

PARKING: We have room for 2 vehicles to park behind the garage and 1 vehicle in the marked parking spot to the left just
before the house.

The lighting before sunset is incredible with the last light of the day glimmering across the saddle of the mountains. Endless wildlife. I saw sat and watched deer, squirrels, chipmunks, stellar jays, and tons of birds I don’t recognize. Very quiet and secluded. There are two neigbors about 40 yards away, but I never heard them. Ascend the stairs and enter through the Lodge's front door and you will encounter the expansive living area and be immediately greeted by a breathtaking mountain view. It consists of a fully appointed kitchen, a 6 seat dining table under a mid century chandelier, and a cozy living room centered on a stone fireplace. The space is designed to guide your eye towards the wide open views provided by the 20 foot wall of windows.

The living room features a cozy wood burning fireplace and a Roku TV with a Sonos soundbar, allowing you to watch your favorite streaming shows (using your own logins) or listen to your music via the Sonos soundbar. There are also some board games and card games for you to enjoy, or just sit out on the deck and enjoy the view. The sky at night is absolutely magnificent. There are light pollution rules in the community so it's very dark and sky is absolutely gorgeous.

The kitchen is filled with everything you need to make an amazing meal. The owners love to cook and wanted to make sure they could host dinners on top of the mountain. They also love coffee and wanted to make sure you could grind fresh roasted beans for a perfect cup of drip coffee.

The larger bedroom is furnished with a twin bunk over a queen bed. It’s perfect for kids or that extra friend that decided to come last minute. The smaller bedroom is furnished with a vintage midcentury queen bed. Both bedrooms have wide windows covered with blackout shades to keep out the bright mountain sun and let you sleep just a little while longer. Each bedroom has chargers on each side of the bed that accommodate your phone, your Apple Watch, and your AirPods and there are also USB outlets provided in the power strips on each side of the bed.

The bathroom separates the two bedrooms and is stocked with everything you need, even a hair dryer. The walk in shower has a rain head with a shower wand. It even has a heat lamp for those chilly mornings when you step out of the shower onto the lush bathmats.

Step outside the sliding glass doors and onto the generous wrap around porch to enjoy the unforgettable views. The porch has cozy seating area, perfect to enjoy the starry night sky. There is also small cafe seating area for you to enjoy your morning coffee.

What to do, what to do? Mostly we come to the Midnight Ride Lodge to relax and do NOTHING. But we do love the activities the area has to offer. What you can do depends on the time of year, but during the summer, you can chill at the pool, play golf or tennis, go horseback riding, fishing on Fern's Lake, see wildlife at Bitter Creek Wildlife Refuge, and hit any of the many hiking trails (we recommend visiting the alltrails website for the best most up to date information on options). Pine Mountain Village is about an 8 minute drive and is cute to walk around, featuring cute shops. dining and the Pine Mountain General Store.

****SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING****

We're very proud of the cozy little space we've created and we hope you'll love it too. We are new to vacation rentals and value your input and feedback on our home! If you have any issues or problems during your visit (and we certainly hope you won't!), please give us an opportunity to remedy the issue rather than leaving poor feedback.

IMPORTANT: Everyone should keep a set of snow chains with them, even if you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. CHP does require that vehicles carry chains or traction control devices in order to access the mountain community roads when there is snow and ice on the ground. Cal-Trans has signs posted to notify drivers and enforce safety. It is the driver's responsibility to insure the proper installation and maintenance of tire chains or traction control devices when necessary to prevent loss of traction. Loss of traction is defined as the inability of a vehicle to stop, turn, and proceed forward or backward in a sustained, controlled manner without skidding, sliding or becoming stuck.

--DISCLOSURE--
Living in a mountain cabin is a truly unique experience, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. Nestled deep within the serene beauty of a National Forest, this is the place to unwind, recharge, and take in stunning, uninterrupted views. But it’s important to know that mountain life brings its own set of realities.

With the peace and tranquility come occasional challenges like weather delays, road closures, power or internet outages, and encounters with local wildlife, including insects and spiders. Strong winds, chilly temperatures, and sometimes patchy cell service (with Verizon being the most reliable) are part of the mountain charm. Unlike urban areas, there’s no Uber, and the local shops and restaurants typically close by 8 pm, so planning ahead is key.

Life up here may require a bit more patience and flexibility, but that’s all part of the appeal. The simple joys of cabin living, surrounded by nature’s beauty, more than make up for any minor inconveniences. We invite you to come with an open mind and an adventurous spirit—you'll find it's worth every bit of effort.

--CELL SERVICE--
Cell service can become very spotty or non-existent in the area around our home. We HIGHLY recommend you to download the map for the area to your phone before arrival so you don't have to depend on cell service. Once in our cabin though, we have lightning fast satellite internet for your use.

--HOUSE RULES--
Although the home itself is single level, there are 17 stairs you must climb to get from the driveway to the front door (see photos). Please understand this before renting.

1. No smoking or vaping inside the home. Please use EXTRA CARE ouside, as fires are easily started.

2. Do not leave ANY food or food related items (including wrappers/empty containers) or anything with an attractive scent like toothpaste, sunscreen, etc) outside, including inside your car. Because, BEARS.

3. No unregistered guests allowed

4. No pets allowed unless previously agreed upon

5. No parties of any kind

6. QUIET TIME (per HOA): No loud music outside at any time and quiet hours from 10pm to 8am.

Do not smoke on the property. Smoking indoors or near open doors and windows will result in a partial or full forfeit of your security deposit. This is also a FIRE HAZARD and cannot be tolerated.

--PETS--
We are animal friendly people and we love your pets, but due to the amount of damage caused by pets, we do not allow them at The Midnight Ride Lodge. Bringing pets with you can result in forfeiture of a portion of your security deposit.

--POTENTIAL HAZARDS--
All renters are advised that the cabin was built in 1972 and not constructed to current building and safety codes. Furthermore, the property has not been “childproofed” (such as locked cabinets, plugged electrical outlets, etc.) Accordingly, the physical condition of the property may pose a risk of serious injury or death to unsupervised children, toddlers, service animals or pets (as stated, pets are NOT permitted on the premises).

By booking this rental property, you expressly acknowledge this warning and agree to assume all risk for your use and occupancy of the property, including on behalf of your children, guests and invitees. All potential guests should carefully review the photographs of the property and consider whether the property is appropriate and safe for their intended use, person and family/group members.

--GUEST ACCESS--
Guest passes to the Clubhouse will be provided. The Clubhouse in Pine Mountain Club has activities such as golf and the pool that are open during the summer. The clubhouse charges a $5 fee for a "day pass" with the guest card. More info is provided about the Clubhouse amenities once guests have booked.

--MISCELLANEOUS NOTES ABOUT PMC--
You should plan on bringing any and all food items you'll want to have for your visit. This includes coffee, etc. We aren't able to leave ANY food in the house when it's vacant (other than spices) because, BEARS, so it will be "bare" when you arrive. We offer a French press for coffee as well as a Fellow drip coffee maker that brews pour-over quality coffee with the press of a button, as well as a coffee grinder with adjustable settings. We do NOT provide coffee beans though. Although there isn't a major supermarket nearby, should you find you forgot something you want/need, the well stocked Pine Mountain General Store located in Pine Mountain Village will probably have what you need. The Village also houses some cute places to eat and drink (The Perch, Bear Claw Bakery, Bigfoot Cafe, Pine Mountain Pizza Company, La Leña Mexican Restaurant, Hungry Al's BBQ, etc)

- "Super cute cabin. The view is really nice. There is a big window in the living room that captures open mountain views. Quiet and high up the top of Pine Mountain. The TV is in the basement room and not the living room so that was a bummer. We went out a lot in the town, but it is always nice to watch a movie together. Nice parking access right in front of the cabin which made unloading easy. Private from neighbors. I believe this is a new rental. Some suggestions: We stayed over the July 4th weekend which had record breaking heat. Since no a/c, a portable fan in the bedroom would be great to help with the heat. Would be nice to have an outside table on the deck to sit out there and enjoy the view with a glass of wine. And of course a TV in the living room :)"

These Malm fireplaces tend to smoke when starting a fire. It takes time for the flue to warm up to draw up the smoke through the chimney. If there are high winds please don’t use the fireplace.

Located in a spectacular mountain setting just 90 miles north of Los Angeles, Pine Mountain Club is a residential community in the Los Padres National Forest. Relax & unwind while surrounded by acres of old forests that shelter an array of flora & fauna, including the rare California Condor. This cabin was one of the original homes built in PMC in 1976. Although newly updated, the 70s vibe is still alive with cork floors, shag rugs, wood paneling, an 8-track player & orange Malm fireplace.

Our 1970s chalet-style gambrel cabin is located at an altitude of 5500 feet above sea level. Both bedrooms are equipped with organic latex mattresses (queen downstairs, full upstairs) and ROKU smart TVs. There is also a TV with basic cable, a VHS player, and classic video games in the living room downstairs. Upstairs we have a projector for watching movies on a big screen. The kitchen is equipped with a full size refrigerator, oven/stove, Nespresso machine with milk frother, blender, waffle maker and fondue pot. We have board games, puzzles, records, 8-track cassettes, VHS tapes, a keyboard, and a working fireplace. Towels and linens are provided. The washer and dryer cannot be used by guests, but there is a laundromat in the village and another in Frazier Park.

Keep in mind this is not a hotel, this is a privately owned cabin in the middle of a National Forest. The water may take a little longer to heat up, the electric heaters might smell a little dusty the first time they are turned on after a long summer, spiders might rebuild their webs less than 24 hours after the space is cleaned, there may be dirt on the outdoor furniture, you might need to wear insect repellant in the summer or shovel the driveway and deck in the winter. There is no air conditioning, only floor fans. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not it, but if you want a fun, comfortable getaway in the mountains, please submit a booking inquiry with some info about your group and why you chose PMC and our cabin.

The wi-fi is pretty reliable but as we are in a rural area, it does go out from time to time. If you absolutely must have internet access guaranteed, this may not be the place for you.

- "Very easy to rent and contact owner through VRBO." - "This cabin is a comfortable and beautiful "time capsule" from the 1970s. We were a couple with our well-behaved dogs and the space was incredibly easy to use and cook in over the five days we stayed. We found the first floor perfect for us that we didn't use the upstairs since we were outside enjoying walks in the neighborhood, golfing and swimming at the rec center, and watching the birds during the day and the stars at night on the deck. A note for taller guests - my husband is 6'3" and the dining chairs and queen bed were slightly smaller/less comfortable for him, but he still really enjoyed his stay. We really appreciated the quality bedding, towels, and kitchen/bath supplies. Also a small touch we loved was making fondue with the fondue pot (a first for us!)."

- "This was an amazing spot- the host is incredibly communicative and friendly. The house is clean, really quiet, and beautiful. The loft is a great spot for reading, writing, or watching movies. The spa is great and they provided plenty of towels for us. I especially liked being outside in the spa while the sun was setting 👍 beautiful! Plenty of room and had plenty of seating around the decks outside. We opened the sliding glass doors and it felt like we were outside. We often just had them open and enjoyed the view while hanging out :) The one note I have (and it’s small) is that the driveway is right outside of the big window so you are always looking at your parked car which you can’t tell from the pictures. Our charming getaway in Pine Mountain Club offers panoramic views. Windows and deck face the mountains and a greenbelt wash full of wildlife. Our home has cozy atmosphere and is suitable for guests of all backgrounds who want to vacation in these pristine mountains. A wood deck and adjacent pine-shaded clearing provide privacy, comfort, peace and quiet. Nearby hiking trails and shopping boutiques are minutes away. Mountain air and forest scents make for great stargazing, meditation and picnics.
The space
Our house is an inspiring place to create for musicians, artists, and writers. The large living room is a great gathering space with ample seating and gorgeous sunlight. The large wooded yard under the pines provides lots of room to play outside and cozy corners abound inside where you can unwind and relax. The light and ambience are perfect for romantic getaways, family time, art, retreats, and hiking. We have a small television, a stereo system and wifi internet. A grand piano awaits inspired musicians and composers. Feel free to bring a hammock.

You will have two bedrooms with queen and full size beds, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area with fireplace, a large living room and two bathrooms. Extra guests (above 4) can use living room sofa beds with additional charge. The washer and dryer are in the mudroom closet.
Other things to note
Trash must be kept indoors in tied trash bags and never left outside due to wildlife. Trash must be taken with you when you leave.

When you arrive at our home, the first thing you'll see is our damn huge west-facing porch.

☀ There are plenty of towels in the linen closet and a laundry catch as well for your convenience in the same hall closet.

☀ Pine Mountain is known more for its hiking than the local restaurant scene, and there are few stores nearby with limited options.

☀ Those lucky enough to stay in this room will be lulled to sleep with our star projecting white noise bluetooth speaker…it is truly a dreamy space.

☀ A variety of board games can be found in a large chest in the middle of the room, along with playing cards and lots of space to spread out and play together.

Please be aware that the internet in Pine Mountain area can be inconsistent at times. Our cabin has WIFI internet, but should Pine Mountain lose power for whatever reason, the internet will go down. Bringing a mobile hotspot is recommended if internet is critical for you.

Additional, Verizon is the only cell phone service that is supported in Pine Mountain. If you do not have Verizon, you will need to be connected to WIFI.

Every house in Pine Mountain Club is on a septic system. This means the plumbing is delicate. Please NO feminine products, flushable wipes, excessive toilet paper, diapers, q-tips, etc. may be flushed.

All of our guests are to be respectful of neighbors and shall keep noise to a minimum while in the front yard and on the balcony. Quiet time is from 10 pm to 8 am, but in general NO loud noise or music is allowed in Pine Mountain Club per HOA rules.

Food should NOT be left in any vehicle or outside unattended. It attracts wildlife that is WILD. The bears are no joke. No cough drops, sugared candy, bars, sugar drinks, or old bags of fast food. This is for the protection of your persons, your car, and the property.

NO OUTDOOR FIRES. Please use the grill for any outdoor cooking.

Pets and family animals will be welcomed with an additional fee of 200 Up to two animals please and let the host know in advance apply at check rules. We have cameras outside. If we find out after we have brought a pet you will be responsible for the pet fee. NO pets off leash outside of home are allowed in Pine Mountain Club. Period. Please note: Fine by PMCHOA may be incurred by guests.

We are blessed with an abundance of wildlife in the surrounding area, so please do not leave any food or trash outside— if you’re using the BBQ grill, please clean up any grease on/around the grill area afterward.

We understand that accidents do happen and kindly request that you report any accidental breakages or damages to the property or furnishings before checking out. Any damage made to property or furnishings will be billed to the guest and will be reported.

If there is any Bear damage/ break in to cars that is solely on the Airbnb guest.

If you do NOT lock up the home and a bear breaks in you the guest are responsible for any and all damage to the home. Please lock doors when leaving the property.
