The kitchen is WELL stocked with all of the extras - crock pot, blender, a large variety of pots/pans/cookware, etc. It really feels like "home." The beds are very comfortable (extra blankets and pillows in each bedroom closet). The boat dock is perfect for hanging out, floating in the lake. Bottom line - just show up and relax and enjoy. - "Stay was excellent! Cabin was clean and very comfortable. Great location and loved the fire pit!" - "Easy check in and super friendly hosts, door dash comes too" - "We were scouting the area for a retirement home and decided to spend a week in the area. We worked remotely without any issues and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. The lake was down quite a bit which was disappointing but it really didn’t affect our stay. The cabin had a large living area with plenty of seating. The kitchen was well appointed but bring your own ziplocks, foil, etc… we didn’t bbq but were happy to see a grill was available. Beds were comfortable with plenty of drawer space in the main bedroom. No dresser in the second bedroom..just a nightstand. There are plenty of towels for four people (we had three) but no shampoo, body wash or bar soap. The washer/dryer came in handy (we brought our own soap and dryer sheets) and the coffee bar was great (bring your coffee and condiments). Overall this is a great place to stay and we will check availability the next time we’re back looking at homes. "

- "Cabin was perfect for our stay, lake access is unbeatable. Highly Recommend." - "Father’s Day Trip w/ Family " - "The cabin was really nice, only issue was the stove not having numbers on the dials to indicate level of heat. The area around the cabin could use some cleaning up. " - "No utensil by cooking except a top." - "Pros: gorgeous cabin with a lake view. Cons: Property had fresh linens and a freshly made bed but there were lots of spider webs through the cabin and porch area. The porch had several places where the screws were not all the way in and were sticking up which made it hurt if you stepped on one. The fire pit outside was also full of trash. Area is hard to navigate at night due to there being zero fluorescent signs to show you were to go. Would stay again but would ask the property start doing a better job with upkeep and cleaning before. "

- "The property is beautiful, just like the pictures. Tons of extra space with the lower level. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need. It was quiet and peaceful, just bummed we didn't get to spend as much time there with race duties. It is tucked away in a beautiful setting. My only suggestion is to add directions for the thermostat." - "Great location and beautiful home. Lovely natural light. It rained the whole time otherwise we would've loved to sit down by the lake"

Escape to our fairytale cabin, on 27 secluded, private acres of gorgeous forest on Lake Wedowee. Soak in the hot tub, bake a pizza in the wood-fired oven, snuggle in the porch nest swing or stroll down the river road to swim or kayak. Hike to Wolf Creek and pan for gold. This gorgeous cabin is inspired by the original 1840s rock chimneys-found in the forest—built with reclaimed heart of pine, stained glass & cedar from the woods. Guinea fowl live on site. No kids under the age of 12.
This hand-crafted, light-filled cabin will be one of the most luxurious and interesting spaces you will have the pleasure of experiencing.
Brought to you by the team at the famed Alpaca Treehouse in the Bamboo Forest, this beautiful character rich space was inspired by the original 1840s chimneys (2 of them) found on the site, in the forest.
THINGS TO DO:
-Pan for gold in Wolf Creek. We leave you two pans to try your luck. This area used to have gold mines and the river and the creek have gold flakes and maybe even nuggets.
-Fishing: The creek & river are filled with crappie and bass.
-Explore the Property: Dig for artifacts. There is treasure in the ground surrounding the cabin. We’ve found several valuable bottles. Finders keepers!
-Photography: So many opportunities.
-Wildlife Watching
-Kayak or canoe down the Little Tallapoosa/Lake Wedowee. Put in at the launch, at the bottom of our River Road and take out.
-Swim in the river or deep holes in Wolf Creek
-Soak in the Hot Tub: We have the ultimate hot tub experience with the 1840s chimney. Bank up a fire and soak your cares away.
-Make a Pizza in the Wood Fired Oven: Make your own custom pie in our oven. All accessories provided.
-Take a Hike: We have 27 gorgeous acres to explore or hike down country road 532 for easier walking.
-Curl Up In our Nest Swing: And read a book or watch some Netflix on your laptop.
-Check out the Muscogee/Creek Indian Trail Tree: Located down at the confluence where Wolf Creek meets the river/lake is a tree bent using a heavy stone to point the native peoples to special places of important. A confluence was a sacred spot for weddings/funerals.
-Search for Treasure: We have valuable bottles and other artifacts on the property just waiting to be found.
-Dig Arrowheads and Native Pottery: This was once the home to the bustling thriving Native Peoples/Muscogee or Creek Indians. There are artifacts to be found. We found an arrowhead recently.
-Forest Bathing:: Spending time in nature, with its perfect balance of sights, sounds, smells, and peaceful environment, offers essential rewards for our highly stressed mental and physical selves. No wonder the ecotherapy practice of forest bathing, otherwise known as Shinrin-yoku, is gaining steam for all the right reasons. Don’t be confused; the exercise has nothing to do with soap or water. Instead, the name refers to the way participants fully immerse themselves in — and reconnect with — nature.
The interior of the home is filled with massive windows that open onto the forest and the wildflower meadow and the guinea fowl. The walls are all sealed 1890s heart of pine flooring wood, with five species of 1890s barn stall wood on the floors. We used several gorgeous pieces of historic stained glass including the Noah’s Ark piece in the front gable from a church.
Amenities: hot tub, outdoor fireplace, wood-fired pizza oven, blackstone grill/griddle, nest swing, Adirondack chairs fridge, hot plate, microwave, toaster, AC/heat, designer walk in shower with marble and inlaid artifacts from the site.
Sleeps 4: queen sized bed in loft and full-sized futon downstairs.
This will be a stay and escape that you’ll never forget.
- "Really enjoyed it. Fishing was great." - "Only wish we could have stayed longer! The area is so beautiful. The cabin is so unique and so beautiful. The stained glass windows and the fact that everything is reused or recycled is really cool. Morning coffee with the little birdies all around, the African guinea fowl saying good morning, the light coming through the stained glass window; it was truly a unique Refuge. And then you get to walk down the road to the river which was truly a magical spiritual space. Kara was so prompt with her responses to my questions during the stay. Not having a TV was a great experience to really immerse yourself in nature and have a good bonding experience with whomever you bring!! I am truly grateful!!! Thank you Kara O'Brien!!!!"

- "Great time" - "Loved the location and being outside by the river." - "We stayed at this cute lil cabin for a family reunion in the area. Didnt get to spend much time there but coffee on the porch looking at the river was so peaceful. My only complain is the drive way to the cabin. Low limbs rubbing on my new truck and very narrow drive. The RR tracks are a lil scary, best to see it in the daylight first. But we will be back again. "

But very convenient to everything." - "The property was good. Advise to future visitors if you are pulling a boat park in the space provided at the bottom of the hill and disconnect before pulling up to the trailer. Steep hill and no where to turn around. Steampunk Wagon BACKSTORY:
Kara found this glorious 100 property while searching for a beautiful escape retreat to build tiny dwellings. She hiked the property and found it to be pristine, magical, and the topography compelling. She was mesmerized by the Little Tallapoosa River (means “wise grandmother town”) that is part of Lake Wedowee (“Ancient Waters”) in Muscogee or Creek. She loved the burbling, laughing, dancing sounds of Wolf Creek and then discovered the natural springs feeding into Wolf Creek.
The more she looked, the more she discovered. There is evidence of old moonshine stills on the natural springs. There are evident, left-over piled stones, signaling the presence of old buildings and barns. Kara pulled aerial photos of the property from 1942 and the majority of the existing forest was planted with corn & cotton, except for the steep river bank. Additionally, the old timers in the region, conveyed that there was an old milling concern somewhere on the property.
Feel free to look around and dig for old bottles and treasure. We found several bottles worth hundreds of dollars. One was an old 1915 Hobbleskirt Coca-Cola bottle, stamped Roanoke, AL on the bottom. Another was a cobalt blue Milk of Magnesia bottle. Very flashy. There are a couple of ancient trash piles and that’s likely to harbor treasure. Also, you can find bottles in Wolf Creek! Wear gloves to avoid poison ivy while forest digging (we learned that the hard way!)
This region was once called “Cambridge” and was a settler’s establishment. It seems that the settlers were from England, as we’ve found a lot of very crazed, very old English pottery, some stamped 1875. There was an old wooden post office, just down at the mouth of where 432 joins up with 532.
The Creek or Muskogee natives called this land home before the Trail of Tears, when they were driven off their land by the European settlers. Be sure to check out the Native Trail Marker Tree, down at the river’s edge, near the confluence (joining) of Wolf Creek & the river. These trees were intentionally bent, using a heavy stone, to use as living arrows signifying an important region or resource.
To get to the Little Tallapoosa River, go back down 532 (towards 432) and turn up the drive to the Fairytale Cabin (on the left) and keep going all the way down to the river.
There are hiking trails that we cut in and marked beginning down at the river.
A confluence is the joining of two moving bodies of water and the land spit would have been sacred grounds, used for wedding, funerals, and other special occasions.
Steampunk Wagon History:
Originally, when I purchased this gorgeous property, I had planned to begin with a treehouse down at the river’s edge. And that’s still in the plans.
But what happened was I nearly smacked into some amazing 1840s rock chimneys in the middle of a privet forest. I was delighted. What a wonderful treat the land had presented!
Thus began the first dwelling on the Riversong Forest Retreat!: The Fairytale Cabin at Lake Wedowee!
- "We were looking for a place to reconnect and relax and that is definitely what we found. No one around in the middle of the woods. We rarely picked up our phone, went for a walk in the morning, cooked yummy food, ate outside, enjoyed the hot tub and a fire and glass of wine in the evening. We would definitely stay again. We made home made pizza first time failed but second one was so yummy. We did come in on 501 and gps tells you to turn left when you should turn right and we missed the address sign coming in this direction. The owner was at the fairy cottage when we were turning around and had us follow her to the gate. We went to the Fruithurst Winery on the way but never left the property all weekend. "
