Cabin has 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4. A luxury queen bed is in the main downstairs bedroom. A sturdy ladder leads upstairs to a small, low-roofed sleeping loft that has one full-sized bed and one twin bed divided by a privacy wall. (Note that NOBODY UNDER AGE 9 is allowed on the ladder or in the loft.) The living room big cushy chair folds out into another twin bed.

The cabin is very comfortable with lots of windows, and retains a mid-century rustic feel. The primary heat source is a woodstove, which cranks plenty of heat - there are also built in space heaters. (Note cabin is uninsulated). But it also has modern conveniences - brand new plumbing with new tiled shower, toilet, water heater, and electrical system, a fully supplied kitchen with a new dishwasher and fridge, and a vintage stove that works great. There's a also a new washer and dryer.

If you just can't get off the grid, there's hi-speed WiFi, a large antique desk and printer, a flat-screen TV (no cable, but streaming Netflix, Amazon, Roku, Hulu), and a Bluetooth speaker. A large covered front porch has an outside dining table and Adirondack chairs. In the very wooded backyard, in good weather months there's a propane BBQ grill, a picnic table and two hammocks. In summer, the cabin is shaded by the woods and well cooled with many fans, and bikes, helmets and a pump are available. On cooler days and nights, you can drink hot chocolate by the wood stove,. From October to April, a fire-ring is available for small bonfires.

There are many games, books and puzzles for children and adults. A booster seat, high chair, portable crib and kiddie pool are available.

Well-behaved dogs of selective breeds are most welcome (as long as they are cleaned up after); dog dishes, a blanket and toys are supplied. SORRY NO CATS or other pets allowed.

The cabin is far enough from the highway to hear no road noise, and close enough to the Salmon River to hear it rushing. The neighbors in the subdivision are nice, mostly families or retired, and very quiet. Many good restaurants and taverns are within 5-10 minutes; several in historic buildings.

The cabin is located 20 minutes to Skibowl, 30 minutes to historic Timberline Lodge and Ski Resort, and 36 minutes to Mt. Hood Meadows, one of the largest ski resorts in Oregon. Several sno-parks offer sledding and cross-country skiing.

In warmer seasons, you can take a short walk down to the Salmon River or bike to the Brightwood country store on one of our bikes. It's only a 5 minute drive to fabulous old growth hiking at the Wildwood recreation area, which has a wild salmon viewing station under the pristine Salmon River. Or 5 minutes in the other direction to lovely Middle Earth-like Barlow Wayside park. The huge Sandy Ridge mountain bike trail system starts only 2 miles from the cabin. It's only 10 minutes to the Zigzag Ranger Station and historic towns of Welches and Rhododendron and 15 minutes to the Salmon Huckleberry Wilderness Area with its famously beautiful Old Salmon River Trail. Slightly further, trails at all levels lead through the Mount Hood National Forest to swimmable lakes, rushing waterfalls, historic pioneer sites and alpine wildflower meadows with 7 mountain vistas. (Or, if the season is right, to huckleberry fields or wild mushrooms.) The very fun Skibowl summer Adventure Park is only 20 minutes from the cabin, with bungee jumping, ziplining and a 1/2 mile alpine slide, across the street from the restaurants and breweries of historic Government Camp. The Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood Meadows ski resorts are only a short distance further up the mountain - they often have summer events including wine dinners and hiking via chair lifts.

- "We enjoyed the vintage atmosphere of the cabin and especially the real record player and music selections. The location was perfect for exploring the variety of experiences available around Mt. Hood. Be aware the ladder to the loft is steep, and ceiling low, so not for the faint of heart. We loved having coffee on the front porch and we comfortably cooked all our own meals. There's even a little dishwasher! We would have liked to open the windows in the evenings, but there are no screens on the downstairs windows. Overall we had a great time and loved our stay here. There's recreation in every direction here, with Sandy Ridge mountain biking trails immediately north, world-class skiing to the east, and downtown Portland an easy drive west. Yet everything you need for a memorable escape is within this rustic home.

The interior is adorned with natural wood, including a beautiful staircase made from natural logs. There's both a wood-burning fireplace and a propane stove to warm you as you return home from your adventures, as well as a hot shower, comfortable beds, and a private washer/dryer to toast your socks.

The country kitchen has all of the modern conveniences for you to use (including a dishwasher) when you're not dining out at the Brightwood Tavern or the Chicali Cantina.

Outside you'll find a deck that was built around the towering firs, a gas grill, and a picnic table for al fresco meals. Take a short walk down the private wooded path behind the cabin to reach the river’s edge where you can relax in Adirondack chairs and roast s’mores at the fire pit after the sun goes down (as long as no “burn ban” is in effect).

Welcome to our newly renovated three bedroom home located one and a half miles off of Highway 26 on just over an acre of private land. Our home boasts three queen beds and two full bathrooms plus a queen inflatable air bed for additional guests. Our home is minutes away from Sandy Ridge trailhead, Wildwood Park, local grocery store, restaurants, and 16 miles from Government Camp.
The space
This house has everything you’ll need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. With brand new full-size modern appliances, 70 inch TV in living room and 58 inch TVs in each of the bedrooms. The first floor of our home you will find a fully stocked kitchen with everything you’ll need to cook your meals. There is a bar area with seating and a dining room table for six. In the living room area there is a sectional that has seating for eight and cozy throws tucked away inside the ottoman. The house is fully stocked with firewood for those chilly winter nights, or for when you just want the ambience of a crackling fire. This house is also equipped with an electric furnace with heat pump. Also on the first floor there is one main bedroom and full bathroom with standup shower. The second floor has two bedrooms on opposite sides of the staircase and one full bathroom with a standup shower. There is also a small area for reading or for keeping an eye on your children as they enjoy the upstairs play area.

*Please note, half of this property is a working equestrian operation (broodmares and foals). As such, there is staff on the equestrian half of the property at all times (over 1 acre away from the home). Downstairs is the primary, with a king bed and en suite bathroom with free-standing soaking tub and separate shower.

GREEN: this room is a bonus off of/adjacent the movie room. Two full sized beds with green linens. There is no door between the movie room and the adjacent bedroom, but there is a door to close off the entire movie room and bedroom from the hallway.

- "This home was a lovely place to stay a weekend. Close to a convenience store and small weekend food cart (hamburgers and hot dogs). Close to nice hiking. The place was well appointed, very clean, and had 3 bedrooms, which was perfect for our needs. Lovely towels, linens, and soaps. Washer and dryer in the unit was helpful after a day of hiking. The only thing that was less than perfect was a neighbor's rooster who made a lot of noise from 4:00-7:00 am. Was less bothersome with the windows closed, but still woke up the members of our party who were on that side of the house. So, remember to bring some earphones. Overall, we enjoyed our stay immensely."

Enjoy the back deck seating and a lovely propane fire place while listening to the rivers near by.

This woodsy private place is on 2.5 acres surrounded by beautiful trees and landscape. The property is mostly fenced aside from the hillside that overlooks the town of Brightwood.

Highland Farms is a 5-acre forest farm with beautiful towering trees and lush fern-covered forest floors. Escape the city's congestion and commune with nature, and don’t forget to take as many deep breaths of fresh air as you can!

Accommodation:

This charming three-bedroom barn cottage has a view of nature, Highland Cows, and other fur creatures. It is two stories, with the primary bedroom on the main floor with a king bed and two bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen and the other with two queens. In total, it sleeps 6 adults or 4 adults and up to 4 kids. The Cottage has an open-concept living room facing the outside and a fire pit with a BBQ and outdoor chairs.
