- "Room is big. Hotel hallways were filthy. Room was not. Not a great part of town but once in hotel we felt safe and slept well for a one night stay. Beds are hard. I got to the room and the key didn't work. they hadn't activated it. So I walked back down to the lobby and the activated it. I finally get into the room, which was nice, but the TV didn't work. So I had to go back down to the lobby with all of my things. They put me in a new room, which was also nice (and the TV worked), but I wasn't able to "settle in" until about 4:15pm. There is no elevator, so even though I didn't have much with me, it was still a hassle to carry things up and down there stairs several times. I would have called the front desk, but there was no phone in the room and I hadn't charged my phone yet. "

Whether you're in town for business or pleasure, our centrally located AirBnB offers convenience, comfort, and easy access to all that our "little" city has to offer just minutes from I40/85.

The McCauley House was built in 1920 as a single family home. From what we can tell the McCauley Family owned it for nearly 100 years and at some point in time they did a conversion to a 4-plex apartment building. We bought the building in 2022 and have worked hard to restore every room. in this apartment you will find 2 original fireplaces, 11' Ceilings and all of the modern amenities that you would expect to include a King Bed, Fully Stocked Kitchen and Large Soaking Tub. The apartment features High Speed Internet with an access point for ethernet and Smart TV's in both the living room and the bedroom.

The listing is made for 2 but we understand you may have children or a guest. Please register all additional children/guest and we are able to accommodate with an air mattress or pack and play if needed.

- "We stayed 2 nights in apt B. This home is in a location close to so many things, very close to downtown. The property was just as listed. It has large, open spaces in bedroom, living room, and kitchen. The bathroom was nice and larger than many. There was a bench and a cart that sits next to the sink, to hold toiletries and curling irons, etc. This is not in the photos, and we found it very helpful. The bed was comfortable and the curtains allowed us to have it good and dark. We appreciated a private parking lot just for guests. There were several washer/dryer units available for use. The doors all had touch pads for unlocking and it was good to be key-free. Gayla was responsive and helpful, a great host! We would recommend this stay."

The trash can in the kitchen smelled so strong of cigarettes I had to set the trash can out on the porch (we are non smokers) I sprayed it with lysol but the smell never did go away. So sorry to even meantion these minor things but just thought the cleaning crew might want to do the microwave at least. Clayton's 1910 mill house has been in our family for almost 100 years. We took all our experience on VRBO and totally updated it, combining the best of the new while keeping the atmosphere of days gone by.

Clayton's house was built by The Virginia Mills Company in 1910. The mill burned down but some of the houses remain. This one has been in our family for almost 100 years.

In 2021/2022 we took our experience with VRBO to create an experience that we hope you will love. Everything is totally renovated yet we kept the atmosphere of a 1910 house. Several pieces of furniture are original to the house, such as the pie safe.

Whether you are coming to the area to relax or work you will find this house an excellent choice.

The living room features two leather couches, a gas fireplace, a 70 inch smart TV, games, Alexa, and Alexa-enabled lights to create a variety of settings and moods.

The bedroom has a king-size memory foam mattress, room darkening shades, a 70 inch TV, charging plugs for your phones and tablets, Alexa to play your favorite music, and Alexa-enabled lights. We even have two beds for your pets should you need them.

The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook including oven, microwave, and air fryer along with locally sourced coffee and many spices.

The bathroom was completely remodeled and features a rain shower.

The second bedroom is small but features two bunk beds and a Jeffersonian-era desk and a mailbox lamp, which was chosen because Clayton had mailbox 1 when Swepsonville had a post office.

Outside, the property is one acre. The front porch overlooks the small lake, and on weekends in the summer, local bands usually play at the Swepsonville Market, which is across the lake. When playing, you can sit on the porch and listen to the music or walk across the lake and hear the band firsthand.

On the back deck, you can relax with the fire pit during the evenings or grill your favorite food. The backyard is fenced in if you are bringing your pets

If you own an electric car, we have a level 2 EV charger installed with J1772 and Tesla adapter for your convenience.

There are a lot of things to do located within a short distance. Saxapahaw is a restored mill town just 10 minutes away. It features Haw River Farmhouse Ales, The Eddy Pub, Haw River Ballroom, Rivermill (which is a 146-year-old former cotton mill), the Saxaphaw General store, and plenty of outdoor hiking. Clayton's place is only minutes from Burlington, Graham and Mebane and 30 minutes to Raleigh.

- "My son lived in this home for 8 weeks while he was in school at NCTEC. Everything was perfect. No issues at all." - "Everything was great - very clean and nice. Only small suggestion would be improved front porch lighting for after-dark arrivals. As an fyi, we brought our small dog (~20 pound Beagle) and knew that the back yard had a small area with a wooden fence. We couldn't tell from the photos if the fence had wiring to keep the dog contained. It does; however, our dog probably could have jumped over the fence so we kept her on a leash even inside the fenced area."

We are the lucky new owners of a beautifully up-fitted one-bedroom dwelling in the cotton mill, which was first built in the 1840s by Quaker settlers. Also, I was a photographer for almost 30 years (in Raleigh) and most of the lights in the condo are on dimmers, so at night you can create some interesting lowlight situations. Rivermill Loft things to know:
"Service animals" that are hypo-allergenic and smaller than 15 lbs. are OK, I have an allergy to most dogs, i.e, German Shepherds, Retreivers, Labs, so those types of dogs are not allowed in our properties.
-Our router is called Tom and Colette and the password is Rivermill1. We have 2 parking spaces, 26 and 48. People here are a little particular about folks parking in the wrong spots.
-There are many things to do while you’re here, concerts at the Haw River Ballroom, dinner at the Eddy, breakfast and lunches at the general store, canoeing and kayaking down by the Hall River, trails to walk on, we also have a bike shop, butcher shop and some gift shops up near the general store.
-To use the entertainment center, grab the Samsung remote and push the home button, this will access all of the streaming stations and apps. If you want to watch regular TV, tap on the the Spectrum hub and then you can use the black spectrum remote and surf the guide. You can also stop start and record by tapping the DVR. You can also access all the streaming channels on spectrum by googling. Showtime is 550, and you can look up all the others. We have a Sony 360 sound system with a subwoofer but we’ve found that sometimes it does not become activated. If you don’t see the TV light on the sound bar itself, turn on the sound-bar from the soundbar itself.
- Please be aware the sounds Carrie’s in these condos quite easily so if you’re using the sound system, please be considerate of our neighbors.
- There is food and condiments here for your taking. We live here part time so we have some of our personal food here.
-This is our 5th Airbnb that we’ve run over these last (9) years and we’ve never asked our guests to do a thing but this situation is different because were an hour away and it’s becoming a little difficult to manage so we ask that our guests do these two things for us.
1. Strip the beds and throw the sheets and the towels in the washing machine on medium.
2. Bundle up the trash and stick it by the front door for our cleaners to take out.

Our home is an easy drive many of local favorites: Press Coffee + Crepes, Forgotten Road Ales, Fitzgerald and Faulkner cocktail bar, Little Brother Brewing, Whit’s Frozen Custard, Powercade Arcade and Bar, Graham Soda Shop, Luigi’s, Smokehouse at Steve’s, and The Graham Cinema, among others. The Graham Mill, a local wedding and event venue, is also just a short walk away! A central location just off the interstate, the house is minutes from Elon University (7 miles), downtown Burlington, Saxapahaw River Mill Village, LabCorp and the Tanger Outlets in Mebane. It is also about 30 minutes from Greensboro, Durham and Chapel Hill, under an hour to Raleigh, 20 minutes to Hillsborough. Enjoy hiking on the Haw River Trail or taking a kayak tour of the nearby Haw River. If traveling with kids, the Alamance Children’s Museum is a few blocks away and the Burlington City Park is a great spot with a playground, carousel, train rides, and a splash park for summer. The McCauley House was built in 1920 as a single family home. From what we can tell the McCauley Family owned it for nearly 100 years and at some point in time they did a conversion to a 4-plex apartment building. We bought the building in 2022 and have worked hard to restore every room. In this apartment you will find an original fireplace and all of the modern amenities that you would expect to include a King Bed, Fully Stocked Kitchen and Tile Shower. The apartment features High Speed Internet with an access point for ethernet and Smart TV's in both the living room and the bedroom.

The main house has Smart Locks where all tenants will enjoy common space, laundry room and a great front porch seating area - this porch is the best spot in the house for watching storms! All apartments are rented as full units with two entrances/exits for safety and convenience.

We are not far from the property and we will be able to help if you were to need anything but we will not be stopping by or checking in unless you specifically needed something.

- "I loved staying in this apartment, and would definitely stay here again. The rooms are charmingly and thoughtfully decorated, and well supplied for an average traveler’s needs. All rooms have ceiling fans, which would be great in summer. Windows all around bring sunlight throughout the day, and the neighborhood is very calm and quiet and not far from I-40. This apartment is on the second floor, up a flight of stairs (outdoors) and doesn’t have a washer/dryer. These weren’t a problem for us, but are worth mentioning. Beds were a little firm but comfy overall, and the kitchen had the essentials, including a coffee maker with supplies to get started. The convenience to Graham, Burlington, and Mebane was great. Plus the owner was easy to reach and very responsive. So I’d definitely stay here again."
