- "I was in town for a very short period of time, but the Lamp Post Lodge was perfect. Easy access and everything worked flawlessly. The views are reason enough to come back!" - "Nice big room. No AC installed yet. Room was 78 degrees when I got there. Lots of goodies in the room. Hot water heating plate is used to make instant coffee. Tv channels available leave something to desire. Clean-self check-in. Owners responded to my text on temp right away. Shared kitchen in main area. It’s my second stay there. Not a lot of options in Westcliffe but this is probably the best for the $$."

Very happy in what we got for the price paid. Will recommend to family coming to visit us. " - "Booking, checking in/out was easy! Some of the appliances are older but they worked just fine. The towels are a bit rougher than most hotels/motels I’ve been to. Tv reception was hit or miss and we just ended up turning it off. That was the biggest downside but we didn’t spend much time needing it. I loved that we could have our fur babies there. Very close to everything! At night when you walk outside you can see the Milky Way and it’s gorgeous! I’d stay here again! "

- "What a beautiful home. We had everything we needed, from a fully stocked kitchen to all the toiletries we would need. Sitting on the large deck out back gives an incredible view of the mountains. And just off of the deck, is a gas firepit which we sat around at night and gazed at the stars. Very peaceful!" - "I cannot say enough good things about this place. It was incredibly clean, the best view, and the details in the build of the home and the little amenities they offered guests made it feel so luxe. These people absolutely know how to do a vacation rental correctly. Also, the stars in the middle of the night took our breath away with the added bonus of it being completely silent at all times of the day. There is a grocery store in the small town that you drive through to get to the home where you can stock up on all of the essentials, there’s also an incredible coffee shop and another delicious breakfast place in that town. I have nothing negative to say about the location or the home and I would absolutely come back."

Enjoy easy access to this charming Colorado mountain town with a stay in this equally charming Westcliffe Guest Suite near downtown and only a 10 minute walk to the Bluff with its amazing views of the Sangre de Cristos.
This is a "shared house" listing in a beautifully remodeled and updated historic cottage in Westcliffe. You will have your own private entrance to the 4-room suite consisting of 2 bedrooms, combined living room with fireplace and kitchenette/dining area, and bathroom. The space is separated from the owner's quarters by a curtain and child gate. Guests enjoy privacy in the rented Guest Suite space. As in any shared house, there may be occasional carry-over noise from the owner's quarters, including occasional barking from the owner's friendly pup. As clearly described in the listing, the kitchenette is NOT a full kitchen, but similar to what is in a hotel room -- microwave, mini-frig with freezer, Keurig, water dispenser, and a 4-person dinette table. We are in a high altitude valley in the Colorado Rockies where snow is sometimes an issue. The private patio is available year-round unless there is too much snow.
The Guest Suite includes one private bedroom with queen bed, 2nd bedroom with single-over-double bunk bed, living room with gas fireplace and smart TV, mini-kitchenette (microwave, mini-fridge, Keurig and dining table), and a full bathroom with both a shower and a claw-foot tub. The suite is the full front part of the house, separated from the entirely separate living quarters of the owner by a gate and curtain. Parking is in front of the house, with additional diagonal parking available on the intersecting side street.
Westcliffe is a small, quiet and engaging mountain community whose residents treasure its long ranching and mining history, the surrounding mountains, and the wide open Wet Mountain Valley within which it is located. The altitude of Westcliffe is 7,887 feet above sea level and it is surrounded by mountains, several of which are among the highest in Colorado, soaring to over 14,000 feet. The nearby Rainbow Trail offers great hiking opportunity for all levels of ability. Westcliffe is an internationally certified Dark Sky Community with a rich community calendar of numerous music festivals, other live music, live theater and art festivals year-round. The home sits on a quiet corner in a residential neighborhood one block off Westcliffe's Main Street. A newly renovated small city park is one block away on the corner of Main (Hiway 96) and 4th Street with flower gardens, a pavilion and seating. A larger city park with a playground, ball field, two small pavilions and bathroom facilities is three blocks away in the other direction. Across the street from there is yet another city park with a larger pavilion, playing field, and tennis courts. Bluff Park with its amazing wide open views of the Wet Mountain Valley and Sangre de Cristo mountain range is an easy 4 block walk westward. There you will also find Smokey Jack Observatory that hosts star-viewing parties and public events. Bluff Park is also the location of Westcliffe's famous High Mountain Hayfever Bluegrass Festival held every July, as well as other live events. All of downtown Westcliffe is available with an easy stroll. Within easy walking distance, you'll find unique restaurants and eating establishments, pubs, coffee shops, art galleries, a bowling alley, grocery store, liquor store, florist and gift shop, bakeries, two thrift stores, the vibrant local library and shopping for jewelry, outdoor gear, clothing, gifts, and local souvenirs. Several churches are also within easy walking distance.

- "Was visiting family in town, was the perfect place to stay. Couldn't recommend more!" - "Overall great place but too many distractions. Internet pass word ridiculous complex as example." - "This property was not as advertised. The first thing you see when you click on the listing is "Entire Home" this is not the case. It is the front half of a home that someone lives in full time, only separated by a curtain and a baby gate. There was no privacy and no way to completely lock or secure our "rental". We were completely shocked when arrived to find all of this out as again, the listing states "Entire Home" and also says "You will not share this home with anyone else that is not in your property." We would have never booked this nor paid the price we did had we known the actual situation. The whole living room was covered in pet hair and the floor was dirty. The "Kitchenette" was just a mini microwave and mini fridge. Also the listing stated that there was a washer and dryer available and also an outdoor area, all which were not available and/or listed as Private. Late at night the owner was in the kitchen, which was on the other side of the curtain "divider" making tons of noise and cooking food. It woke our children. Overall the house was cute, but not at all what we had paid for or were expecting. "

- "We picked this cabin because it was surrounded by trees and had a small stream just off the back deck. The cabin wasn't huge or too small, just comfy, it was quiet, with the exception of the small stream which we enjoyed. We saw numerous deer, squirrels and a small bird landed on the deck railing two feet away where we were sitting. It rained every afternoon and evening during our 2 1/2 day stay which was unusual according to our friends we were visiting. Before the rain showers, we sat on the deck visiting and enjoying nature. We hope to stay again here again on our next visit"

- "I booked this VRBO for a family vacation with my elder mom, nephew, and his girlfriend! We take a yearly trip to the wet mountain valley so always looking for new best options for our stay!! Nephew and girlfriend stayed in the basement living area! My mom took the main floor room with the crib, and I took the master! We still had the loft area that was unused - plenty of space!! Master was fantastic and super roomy! It was nice having my own bathroom space! Mom had the bathroom next to her room for convenience, and the nephew used the bathroom in the basement except for showers! Checkin was super easy and straight forward! Communication with the owner was pleasant and efficient! We spent most nights either playing the provided board games or looking through the provided telescope! Fully stocked pantry and all the condiments in the fridge you could possibly want! A nice bottle of wine was provided as a welcome and baskets of candy and chips! Truly lovely, beautiful, roomy, and easy stay!! Thanks so much for opening your home! I look forward to our next stay!!"

We loved our stay at this lovely place." - "We brought our two mules to enjoy the spectacular trails in the Wet Mountain Valley. We were more concerned about the accommodations for our animals than those for ourselves. No reason for concern though! The space:
Bear Basin Mountain House overlooks the Bear Basin Valley with stunning views of the Sangre de Cristo Range to the west and the Collegiate Peaks to the northwest. Located just 11 miles east of the picturesque town of Westcliffe, CO, this convenient location offers easy access to the Sangre de Cristo range and is just minutes away from fantastic hiking in the Wet Mountains. An ideal getaway spot for those seeking solitude and a great basecamp for all your mountain adventures.
The Mountain House sits atop Tonso Peak on 70 acres of pine and aspen forest. This is a mountain setting yet very accessible. We are located just four miles from paved road and accessed via county-maintained roads, making year-round access one of its best features.
Guest access:
Guests will have access to the entire house and patio area as well as the forested grounds. Take a walk on our 2-miles of hiking trails and enjoy the birds and wildlife that inhabit the area. There are closets and dressers in the bedrooms for guest use. Help yourself to any of the food items and spices in the kitchen cabinets.
Interaction with guests:
I like to give people their space but am available to assist when needed. I do not live on the property full time but will sometimes be staying in the guesthouse nearby while I am working around the property. If I am not present I will be reachable by cell phone.
Other things to note:
Google maps is OK as far as the subdivision gate. After that it is incorrect. VRBO will send you detailed driving directions the day before your arrival. Please use these directions to make sure you don't have any trouble getting here.
A note for winter guests: There are a couple of things you should know if you plan to book with us between Nov 1 - May 1. Our guest house sits at 8900 ft. elevation. Although we do not get lots of snow until spring, we often get a few inches at a time throughout the winter and while we do have road maintenance, it may be icy in spots and difficult or impossible for a rear wheel drive vehicle to make it up our lane. I strongly recommend you have a front wheel drive or four wheel drive vehicle to get here during the winter months.
House Rules:
Self check-in with lockbox
- Must be at least 25 to book or have no negative feedback from previous VRBO hosts. All guests must read the house manual upon arrival. - "Matt is a great host, very communicative and sent perfect directions on how to get to the house. The views from the house are the best! We watched the sunset every single evening. Great location - quiet and tucked away in a valley that is close to hiking, off roading, and Bishop Castle. The bed was super comfortable and we have already talked about coming back to work remotely. The hiking trail on property was great - easy to navigate and showed off the property well. We saw SO much wildlife and loved the hummingbirds and chipmunks especially. We bought extra birdseed to be able to keep feeding them! Our favorite part was the night sky - seeing the Milky Way, a lightening storm in the distance, and air glow phenomenon was incredible."

- "As usual, the cabin was clean and welcoming. We love the views on every side. The deer and swallows and bluebirds are just an added bonus!" - "This property was everything advertised and more. All the little touches, like hooks in the bathrooms to hang clothes, we’re greatly appreciated. The views were phenomenal. We absolutely loved it." - "With so much to do within any direction this house was a perfect fit for us. There are restaurant options and a small grocery store in town, most places close at 8. I do wish that the bedroom upstairs had blinds/tint or something on the skylights. If you want to sleep in, that isn’t the room for you, it also gets pretty warm up there compared to the rest of the house. We got to watch deer daily in the morning and evenings and it was an very quiet area. The house was well stocked with all necessities and check in/out was a breeze!"

- "This is a private, secluded, quiet location with wonderful views. The home is very well appointed and has many amenities" - "The home was perfect for my family. It was well stocked, very clean, and the setting was spectacular. The summer sun and heat was significant so having an umbrella or awning for front deck would be useful. Otherwise, very enjoyable. We’ll be back!" - "We cannot say enough good things about our stay! The setting is absolutely beautiful. The house was spotless and so well appointed. We had everything we needed to enjoy our time together. It was one of the best rental experiences we have had to date. Should we ever have occasion/opportunity to return to the area, we would definitely book again."

- "This was our 3rd time staying at Moose Manor. It is an awesome property and Westcliffe is a beautiful area to explore. We will definitely go back again!!! Marino and Herrera families." - "It's obvious the owner cares about the quality of their guest's stay because there was nothing left to chance. Everything we wanted was right at our finger tips. Literally everything. It was a relaxing, fantastic experience and we're looking forward to a return visit in the future. Our only comment -- DSL Internet is terrible. We're a tech heavy family and only one of us to connect to the wireless and browse at a time. Please consider Starlink - it's a game changer in rural areas. ;)"

Breathtaking mountain views are steps away for memorable sunrise and sunset experiences. Visit with deer, relax in the massage chair, meditate, stargaze, and simply unwind. Hiking, hot springs, shopping, sightseeing & more for day trips.
IMPORTANT- Four (4) adults max and no pets due to anaphylaxis allergy medical condition.
INTERIOR - The uniquely crafted cottage provides 1,225 square feet of comfort in an earthy-rustic interior setting for adult guests. The open floor plan bathes the cottage in natural light that showcases blue pine woodwork craftsmanship, reclaimed wood cabinetry, a split air unit for heating and AC options, soaring pine ceilings, and eclectic mix of boho and zen inspired decor. The cozy space offers guests two bedrooms, one bath with a river rock shower floor, a dining table, a coffee/breakfast bar looking out into the woods, a large kitchen island, and a third bedroom that serves as the tranquility room for meditation and relaxation. *interior propane fireplace not operational in summer
OUTSIDE - Enjoy the sofa that wraps around a fire pit, BBQ on the gas grill, take a nap in the hammock, enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace in the gazebo, chill in multiple seating areas to read and watch deer and birds, delight in the whimsical wood-carved animals and metal sculptures that join you on the property, play a round of corn hole, or walk the 3-mile loop trail fronting BPH to take in the stunning views of the Sangre De Cristo Mountain range. *outdoor fireplace and fire pit available year-round, with exceptions to any enforced county fire bans.
MOUNTAIN LIVING - Staying at BPH means experiencing mountain living and sharing the property with bears and mountain lions. Practicing wildlife safety is of the upmost importance. The hosts will help guests with rules and tips for avoiding or dealing with potential encounters and have active exterior trail cams around the property that can alert to dangerous wildlife presence that will be communicated to guests. Winter months can bring measurable snow and frigid temperatures. As such, good tires, AWD or 4WD vehicles, and appropriate winter attire is a must. Guests will also be in a high altitude location and are encouraged to drink lots of water to avoid or lessen any potential altitude sickness symptoms. Speaking of altitude, there are little quirks to deal with. Aerosol sprays can sometimes have slow streams or clog, chip bags can expand and pop, lighters can stop working, and baking instructions should be adjusted to altitude cooking since dough rises faster and the baking process takes longer. Due to the lower air pressure, the cottage’s split air system may produce a low hum and batteries and electrical appliances may have reduced performance. BPH has a gas stove, oven, and dryer to combat altitude performance issues with electrical appliances. Hosts can assist guests with tips on altitude living.
OUR MOTTO - BPH is for adults only and ideal for a romantic getaway or relaxation with a close friend. The cottage is intended for guests to experience our motto- disconnect to reconnect. We cannot stress enough the seclusion BPH offers -guests are tucked away in the peaceful alpine setting, isolated from the world. You can’t even see the cottage from the road. This seclusion experience is truly a break from the everyday hectic lifestyle. Take the time to enjoy nature and the quiet- disconnect from devices and relax in secluded comfort in and outside the cottage. Visit for more: www.bluepinehaven.com
ENTERTAINMENT - There are books, board games, cards, corn hole, a 3-mile loop trail to walk, hiking, stargazing, and wildlife viewing. For modern amenities when you crave to “connect”, there is WiFi, a 50” flatscreen TV, dish network, streaming services (Netflix, Hulu), DVD collection, movie thumb drive, and Bluetooth stereos (indoor and outdoor) to play music straight from your device. Guests may bring a telescope for stargazing and paddle boards/boats for enjoyment on nearby Lake DeWesse, Lake Isabel, and Lake Pueblo. Be sure to pick up a fishing license and check each lake for rules and restrictions. There are a number of water rental options available on the way to BPH- Inquire with the Host.
UNIQUE AMENITIES - The cottage has a bidet seat in the bathroom that allows users to set seat and water temperature, water pressure, and has a dryer function. The tranquility room is equipped with a massage chair, northern lights/celestial sky projector, oil diffuser, and meditation stools for relaxation after a long day of sightseeing and adventures in nature. We are located in a no hunting area and in a Dark Sky community. The friendly deer will delight and the night sky will take your breath away. Visit for more: www.darkskiescolorado.org.
UNIQUE OPTIONS- To make your getaway to BPH truly unforgettable, consider experience options to enhance your stay. Inquire with the host to learn more on in-cottage licensed massage therapy sessions and professional floral arrangements upon arrival for special occasions.
PETS- Host is an asthmatic that has life threatening anaphylaxis and is unable to host animals. Animal hair, dander, feathers, saliva, and urine poses a life threatening condition well after an animal departs the premise since they can exist in the interior fabrics, bathroom and kitchen towels, sauna robes, bedding, pillows, carpet, drapes, and furniture. While the entire home is yours during your stay, this is a residence that the hosts return to after guest departure that will cause a severe health risk and threat. Although the host is equipped with an epipen, this is a rural area with limited emergency services that would be necessary to treat anaphylaxis. This life-threatening health condition is on record. Beyond this medical condition, there are safety hazards for pets with the stairs and fireplace.
LICENSE- We are approved to legally operate the Blue Pine Haven STR in Custer County. We hold an active STR License #2021-8 and comply with all rules required by the permitting office.
SAFETY- BPH is equipped with a Generac generator, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors/alarms, cell phone booster, perimeter security cameras, first aid kit, and a fire escape ladder.
DRIVING CONDITIONS - In winter, a 4WD or AWD vehicle are a must to navigate the mountain terrain for guest safety. Colorado also enforces traction laws: See www.codot.gov/travel/winter-driving/tractionlaw
- "The directions on the website were very accurate! The hostess was there waiting for us and showed us around. Our trip was cut short due to a family emergency but we'll be back again to finish what we started. We can't thank our hostess enough for everything she provided!" - "Our 1st Class experience started well before arriving to this beautifully relaxing property! The Host reached out with things to do in the area which allowed us to double our plans, making for a much more enjoyable trip! We wanted to be away from Colorado Springs, but still easily drivable so we could do the Cog Train and Garden of the Gods (G.O.G. added after seeing Renee's site seeing options). We also added the Royal Gorge and Train with Renee's helpful list! The cottage is well documented by the pics on the site. What isn't documented is everything else around that makes this a 1st Class Experience - massage chair feels outstanding, outside fire pit is very relaxing with bonus of deer visits, beautiful and quite environment + everything you need is there! Great 3-night experience!"

This cozy home is nestled amongst the mountain trees, steps away from many trail heads leading to the Rainbow Trail. How about relaxing on a wraparound deck? See peaks or the dark night sky. Serenity!
- "This place was amazing. It is away from the bustle of town yet within a few minutes drive to Westcliffe. We were frequented by deer, rabbits, and even some turkeys. We did some hiking which was close by and spent lots of time playing inside and outside games. We had no complaints about the house or the view and the owner was easy to contact and communicate with. This was our first time using VRBO and Mrs. Madeleine made it easy to do. We will definitely be coming back."

Welcome to the countryside! With our serene mountain setting comes some rustic realities:
• Wildlife sightings (elk, deer, bears, coyotes, bobcats, etc.) are common. Always be alert and do not leave trash or food outside.
• Insects and seasonal pests are a part of nature:
o Miller moths may appear from mid-May to early June. LED traps and plug-ins are in place during their peak.

Winter Access & Weather Notes
• Four-wheel drive (4WD) is required in winter.
• Snow removal in the community is slower than in town. Please plan accordingly and check weather forecasts.
• You are booking a remote, high-altitude cabin, where response times for handyman or snowplow services may be delayed.
Fire & Smoking Policy
• No fires of any kind are permitted on the property (fire pit, open flame, etc.) due to proximity to National Forest and high fire risk.

A cozy & beautifully updated dog-friendly space, The Pine House is the perfect space for a weekend or extended stay at Westcliffe Suites! Offering many of the amenities of home, there is a full kitchen, washer/dryer and two private bedrooms (king & queen) and bathrooms with beautiful mountain views. You will enjoy the sitting area on the porch, a shared grill and fire pit and easy walking distance to all the shops, parks and restaurants in downtown Westcliffe.
The Pine House is located at 5th and Main Street at the eastern end of downtown Westcliffe. There is a Mennonite Bakery and a coffee shop right across the street. Within an easy walking distance of several blocks, guests have access to all the restaurants, shops and parks in downtown Westcliffe. There is free, public street parking in front of the property, along 5th Street and down Main Street.
You have your own entrance and house suite with shared access to the central patio with a grill and fire pit.
The Pine House is the two story house at the back of Westcliffe Suites facing 5th Street. Guests will walk into the kitchen and dining area then the pine wood stairs take you up to the sitting area, bedrooms and bathrooms.
**Due to the stairs, this is not an infant/ toddler friendly space. Baby gate can be provided upon special request, however guest sets up and uses at their own risk. Guests are responsible for monitoring children at all times.
If you have small children, this space could accommodate up to 6 guests--2 guests would need to be small enough to sleep on the L-shaped sofa. It is not a pull-out, though so if all 6 guests are adults, it would not be ideal. Consider renting an addition space if that is the case.
Both bedrooms and bathrooms are on the second story. If you need accommodations on one story, check out our 3 other listings: Main Suite, Aspen Suite and Valley Suite!
We prefer check-ins before 9pm, but understand that delays happen. Please notify us if you will check-in after 9pm.

It is so inviting with a front porch with a sitting area and gas fire pit. It also has an outside hot tub. It is about 15 minutes from Idaho Springs and very close to St. Mary's Glacier. We also found a trail at the other end of the neighborhood to Loch Lomond..most vehicles can make it to the first lake with waterfall and there are other lakes up above to hike to...very beautiful place! I can't say enough how cute and inviting it is! We had everything we needed for a great stay and Jenna, our rep, was very helpful! It's a little drive to some things, but well worth it to have the privacy and quiet. It is a very romantic place that we would highly recommend!"

- "This property was one of the best VRBO places I've ever rented. The interior is all wood paneling on the walls and ceiling, making a very cozy and comfortable setting. The furnishings were generous, new and well apportioned. The kitchen was amazing! It was very spacious with a large island. The kitchen was stocked with all the cookware, cutlery and utensils you could ever need. The appliances were all new and modern. We made gourmet meals every night! The dining table easily seats 6 and there is plenty of room to spread out to play board games. The living room area has plenty of room with two large couches and a ROKU TV with high speed Wi-Fi to watch all your favorite streaming services. The property is well off the main road, Rt 96. It is quiet and private, with great views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Check in/check out was easy and Candice responded immediately by phone or text with any questions. I highly recommend this property and we look forward to renting it again when we are in the Westcliffe area."
