Year Round Lakeview Cottage with Dock on Lake Champlain
Cabin
Alburg, Vermont, USA

Year round activities in a private lakeview cottage!

Winter:
We are located on the VAST trail (Corridor 78) for snowmobiling with direct access right out of our driveway! Plenty of off street parking for your trailer and machines. Amazing ice fishing right in front of the cabin as well! An hour from Jay Peak, 1.5 from Smuggler's Notch, and 2 hr. from Stowe Mountains for skiing and riding.

Spring:
Spring skiing in the mountains or mountain biking once the snow is gone. Visit a Maple Sugar house, see maple syrup being made, and try the famous "sugar on snow." Of course, Spring is amazing fishing here; it is prime time Salmon and Walleye season in this area!

Summer:
Boating, fishing, swimming, biking, hiking all directly from our cottage! Our dock is directly across the street. A short 5 minute walk down the road will take you to a beautiful sandy swimming beach. Summer concerts, beer festivals, food fairs, farmer's markets, amusement parks, are all 30-45 minutes or less on a day trip to Burlington, Montreal, or St. Albans. Visit the Vineyards and farmer's markets or go antiquing in the Champlain Islands, 10 minutes away.

*We do now share our dock and deck/access with the neighbors, a nice couple. They do not live there full time and are very rarely around so most of the time it will be all yours! They do not have a boat on the dock so that will be the same as it has always been; open and available for your boat during your stay!

Fall:
Foliage is breathtaking in this area! We are connected to the gorgeous Lake Champlain Islands via bridge, only a beautiful hour drive from Jay Peak and 1.5 hours from Stowe with amazing foliage and views! Many Fall fairs, apple festivals, brewery tours, vineyards, music festivals, and of course fall fishing! Duck and goose hunting is big in this area this time of year as well.

For Fisherman:
This area is known for catching unbelievable trophy winning small and large mouth bass, walleye, pike, perch and crappie literally right off our shore! Bass really love the trestle bridge out front and the Missisquoi river to the north. If it's salmon you are after, a short boat ride south will get you in fantastic salmon territory! Hog Island Market is 2 miles away and accessible by car or boat in minutes for fishing licenses, live bait, tackle, boat gas, and snacks. Campbell's Bay Campground is 3.5 miles away for fishing licenses, boat gas, pontoon rentals, tackle, snacks and is accessible by car or boat as well. This spot is MADE for fisherman!
We are located in between the Route 78 Alburgh/Swanton bridge and trestle bridge in East Alburgh, VT. We have a large off-street parking spot, with electricity, for your boat and trailer. You can drop in at the Larry Greene/West Swanton public launch 1/4 mile away (just across the bridge) and tie up to our dock with-in minutes! Our dock is directly across the road from our cottage. Keep your fishing and boating gear safe and secure in our large screened in porch.

For Golfers:
We are located 15-30 minutes from 4 fantastic golf courses! Voted one of the best in Vermont, Alburgh Golf links, is 15 minutes away with beautiful lake views. Champlain Country Club and North Country Golf Club are both 20 minutes away. If you bring your passport the Club de Golf International 2000 is right across the border 25 minutes away!

For couples and families:
Our dock, directly across the road, has a 10X12 ft deck for swimming and sunning with easy access to bring all the water toys you'd like. A row boat and life jackets are included in the rental. Our bay is calm and great for kayaking and SUP. Storage under the deck for all your toys as well. A short 5 minute walk down the road to the south of the trestle bridge, will take you to a beautiful sandy swimming beach that is typically deserted so will most likely be all yours! There is also access to walking and biking trails there. We have a very large and private backyard for lawn games and 2 fire pits for roasting marshmallows under the stars. We are 2 miles from the Missisquoi National Wildlife refuge with great nature trails and bird watching. Sandbar beach on Maquam shore, just a few miles to the south, is a popular spot for anchoring, swimming, and picnicking for the day. We are an hour from Jay Peak, Montreal, and Burlington if you are looking for more public adventures.

The cabin has been completely refurbished on the inside with brand new beds, memory foam mattresses, and linens. We want your stay to be as easy and effortless as possible so we are providing bedding, bath and swimming towels, and toiletries for your comfort. We also have a fully stocked kitchen with new stove, fridge, microwave, utensils, cookware, dinnerware, coffee pot, toaster, ect...

Guest Reviews:

- "The house was just right for our family of 4 with the teenagers staying in the loft for a week-long relaxing getaway. Vermont has been pummeled by rain, affecting the level of the lake everywhere, so unfortunately the beach was hard to access, but not impossible. Kayaks were great, and paddles/vests was easily accessible. The owner was easy to reach. In fact at one point a smoke detector was beeping low battery and she came by to replace it within about 15 minutes! We enjoyed restaurants in St. Albans, Burlington, a bakery/cafe in Alburgh and even Shaggy's snack shack in Swanton. The pizza shop in Swanton is also quite good. Sand Bar and Alburgh Dunes state parks were great swimming spots. Next time we would love to venture over the border into Montreal."

Waterfront Lake House - built in 2017 on shoreline & dog friendly
House
Swanton, Vermont, USA

Our family built a new chalet/lake house, and we couldn't be happier with everything the property has to offer. We are renting this beautiful lake house for just a few weeks during the summer while we are away. Enjoy 140 feet of water front, a huge deck for lounging and outdoor dining, all supplies needed for a comfortable stay, a long dock to fish and swim off, kayaks and paddle board, and amazing sunsets.

We built this 2,500 sq ft home from scratch, and are looking for some responsible people to rent out this amazing location. We also finished the basement in 2022: additional bedroom (#4), additional full bath (#3), and TV Lounge area for those rainy days. Located on Maquam Shore in Swanton, VT, interstate 89 is only 10 mins away, 45 minutes to Burlington VT, and 75 minutes to Montreal.

Starting in June, we require a four (4) night minimum stay with check in / check out occurring any day of the week. Then for peak summer, starting in July through August 30th we request a seven night stay with check in / check out on Saturdays. We then switch back to 4 night minimum stay beginning August 30th through the Fall until end of Oct. Check in / check out any day of the week. For payment, we request 50% of payment upon booking and the remaining 50% payment due 45 days prior to your arrival date.

We allow friendly dogs per request ($100 per pet fee), but no cats or other pets allowed. Please let us know if you plan to bring your dog(s).

We are taking all necessary steps to eliminate bugs & spiders in and around the house. That being said, this is a house on the lake, so there will always be bugs to deal with.

ACTIVITIES:

- Activities: There is great fishing right off the dock (we provide a couple fishing rods/reels & tackle). There are many fishing boats in the area looking for bass. Also take advantage of our onsite water toys (2 adult kayaks, 1 child kayak, and a adult paddle board) and head out on the lake for an adventure!

- Bringing your own boat: While there is a dock, it is not ideal for tying up a boat (if you plan to bring one). The lake can become very wavy / windy where we are located, and we would not recommend having a boat tied to the dock during a storm (for both the safety of your boat and for our dock). There are State boat launches near by to access the lake with a boat if you use a trailer to put in / remove your boat each day. There is also a new marina in St Albans Bay (Saint Albans Bay Marina about a 8 min drive) where you could rent a boat slip during your stay. They also have pontoon boats & jet skis you can rent daily.

- Golf: Champlain Country Club is less than 10 mins away. Great golf course!

- Dining: There is a variety of restaurants and shopping options in St. Albans (15 mins away). We provide recommendations upon arrival.

- Clean Lake Champlain for swimming. Please bring swimming shoes, as the beach and swimming area is rocky. But the lake water is very clean where we are located, and we typically avoid any algae break outs that occur in bays or other areas on Lake Champlain.

- Amazing sunsets by the fire pit! (firewood not included)

Guest Reviews:

- "Awesome vacay!! Beautiful views from the house and deck, with direct access to the water. Big spacious clean house. So much natural beauty in the area." - "This home comes exactly as advertised. It’s spacious and well-provisioned. Most homes we’ve rented have limited supplies we’ve needed to restock - this was not the case here. Having four bedrooms and three full baths was excellent. We spent lots of time paddling and enjoying the lake, watching great sunsets every night, and sitting by the fire pit. Successful fishing right off the dock as well. There’s not much need to go elsewhere, but it was an easy jaunt to Montreal one day, and another to Alburgh Dunes/North Hero to explore. And we visited Maple City Candy more than once for maple creemees. There was a day and a half where the blue green algae was bad; we tracked it on the state app and used those days for excursions elsewhere. We all loved our time here. As a mom, I loved that the television is on the basement level so when we were up on the main level we could just listen to the lake or interact with each other. Watching my two teens work on a puzzle when they weren’t on the water was gratifying. And, spiders and insects were not an issue in the house. It was perfectly clean and ready when we arrived. A very relaxing and enjoyable vacation."

This slice of heaven on the shores of Lake Champlain sits on the calm waters of Maquam Bay. This cozy cottage provides everything you need to enjoy a lake front retreat in Vermont. Enjoy the sunsets sitting at the campfire and relax on the Adirondack chairs overlooking the Bay. The large, fenced in yard provides plenty of space for relaxation or play (and is great for kids or dogs). The .44 acres is very private with mature trees and bushes lining the property. Watch the sunset over the water with the Adirondack mountains as the backdrop. The ramp provides easy access to the water – step into the shallow waters and cool off. Wildlife is abundant with eagles, herons, egrets, ducks, osprey and more.

Spend the summer, winter, fall or spring on the shores of this Lake Champlain get-away. The cottage itself sleeps six people in two bedrooms (a king bed in the master bedroom and twin bunks in the guest bedroom) plus a sleeper sofa in the living area.

This spot has it all! A front porch, back deck and a patio along the edge of the water all provide great spaces to relax and enjoy the peace of the lake. There is also a wood burning fire pit (wood is provided).

Recently renovated with new bamboo flooring, the open living, dining and kitchen area is where you'll spend most of your time when you are not outdoors. Comfortable, cozy furnishings in the living area, a dining table that seats six people and a well-equipped kitchen are all provided to make you feel at home. A gas grill is available for use as well. There is also a full bathroom in the cottage.

An added bonus is the private ramp for easy access to the lake for your kayak or paddle board.

A tandem kayak is included along with a mix of life jackets. We also have several lawn games ready to play. Should you need to move indoors, the cottage comes with games, books and puzzles to enjoy. There are also 2 TV's (one in the living room and one in the master bedroom). High speed wifi internet service is included. Washer/dryer also available.

Bring Fido! Pets are welcome (up to 2 pets upon approval & pet fee applies).

Note: The yard is fenced in with a boundary fence. While it keeps our dog on the property, a determined or small dog can escape. If your dog is prone to running, it might be better to plan additional restraints while on property. In any case, we don't recommend leaving your dog unattended.

Guest Reviews:

- "If you would like a quiet, relaxing, peaceful, and fun stay on Lake Champlain then this is the place for you. The property is beautiful and once you get the lay of the land, it is easy to navigate back and forth down to the water and kayaks. Our whole family enjoyed our time out in the water even though it was high and a little choppy at times. The house itself is a little dated, but suited our needs perfectly. The beds were quite comfortable and the living spaces gave everyone the opportunity to spread out and/or come together for games and fun. This is the most well supplied house we have ever stayed at. It had everything we needed for cooking, grilling, storing food etc.Plenty of towels, bathroom supplies, laundry supplies etc. It really was awesome. The owner is extremely responsive and helped us with a couple of hiccups in a very timely manner. Didn’t interfere with our trip at all. Consider spending your next trip to Vermont here! You won’t be sorry."

- "This is a beautifully and thoughtfully renovated cottage in a peaceful, private setting with a gorgeous view of the water. Our hosts have thought of everything to make a stay here delightful. We are retired and enjoyed the peace and quiet but there are lots of opportunities for fun on the water. Our kids and grandkids visited us for a day, as we all live locally. Just a very special place that we plan to visit again." - "We had a fabulous time during our stay in Swanton. I've rented camps for years on Lake Champlain and this is definitely one of the best layouts for a camp. The interior is cozy with all you need for your stay and plenty of outdoor and water equipment are at the ready. Absolutely loved the three-tier lawn/beach area which is very unique for a camp. The solar lights and outdoor lighting add to the ambiance of nice summer nights. You'll enjoy the fabulous sunsets...a view that never gets old. Mike and Andrea are fabulous hosts and were available for any questions or concerns we had. We plan on coming back to this camp! We loved the camp...and if you choose this camp we believe you'll love it too."

Guest Reviews:

- "The property is welcoming, quiet, and has a wonderful, secluded beach. Mike was a pleasure to rent from and communicate with. Highly recommend." - "The property is exactly as advertised. The lake bottom is rocky, but the water is very clear. Tevas or swim shoes solve the problem. Great paddleboarding and swimming. I stayed ten days but could have easily stayed longer. One suggestion: the living room furniture could be replaced with something more comfortable -- with relaxation in mind (sectional or recliner -- anything confy). All in all, great stay, great lake, great sunsets!"

- "Perfect for our weekend stay. A classy alternative to camping in a superb area. The place is very well kept and clean. The toilet is small: while quite ok for the Wife and I as we are small persons, it could be annoying for large or heavy persons. The owner was very quick and helpful on all communication. Enjoy!" - "Nice minimal, clean, tastefully decorated cabin. Very short around the corner walk to Lake Champlain. We used the available double person kayak and had a beautiful excursion on the lake. Rt. 7 access nearby for nice biking routes. Spotless internet service in the cabin."

- "Just spent the weekend at this lovely loft apartment within walking distance to the lake. For a very humid and wet weekend, we always felt cool and dry and comfortable. Everything you need for a weekend or longer was included and all in almost brand new condition. I was definitely the first one to use the iron! My husband and I and our two teenage daughters had more than enough space to spread out and relax. Even in the large clean bathroom while three of us got ready for a wedding! We could not have had better accommodations in any local hotel!"

Guest Reviews:

- "lovely place right on the water owner was great we had a great time you walked right out into the water. The cabin was beautiful and the porch screened and glassed-in was fantastic. The only issue is you really can't drink the water so we had to use bottled water not a big deal outside of that we would definitely go there again and we plan to"
