- "The housekeeping ladies were very thorough when they came to clean. The bed linen and bathroom were spotless. " - "Basic, simple, but clean and well-maintained property at an excellent price. It is of the older "motel style" design with the rooms opening directly to the outdoors. This worked out really well for our trip, as we had come to Temple for the solar eclipse. We were able to set up our folding chairs and camera tripods right outside our room. The bed was comfortable, the shower worked well with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. We were on the bottom floor, but we experienced no problems at all with noise from either upstairs or next door. The free breakfast was basic, but adequate for that morning cup of coffee or a little something in my stomach to hold me until my late-sleeping spouse got up. A workout room in a separate building provides access to a small, well-maintained outdoor pool. We did not get to try the pool, as it was April and the water was still quite chilly. The location is along a major highway, but the office/lobby building is closest to the freeway, while the actual rooms are set back a ways, so that highway noise was not an issue. The nearby businesses are mostly car dealerships, which do not stay open very late, making for a very quiet environment at night. There is an excellent Mexican restaurant right next to the hotel, which seemed to be be very popular, and which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All in all, a good budget choice for a clean, quiet place to sleep. "

The Texas Star cottage is only five minutes from Temple, seven minutes from Belton and only eleven minutes to Salado. The Silos, in Waco, are forty minutes away. The cottage is centrally located, yet has a country feeling.
Fruit, muffins, and beverages will be in the refrigerator upon your arrival to be enjoyed at your leisure.. Sit on the covered porch, take in the views. Bikes are available to ride with prior notice. Taylors Valley is a beautiful area to take walks. At this time, we don't have horses but are seeking horses to pasture.

The cottage has a living/dining/ kitchen combination, beautifully decorated with a separate bedroom. It has a covered front porch with relaxing rockers that look over
the pasture. The bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed with down comforter. The cottage is equipped with a full kitchen with granite countertops, flat screened television, with Netflix, Hulu & Disney, DVD player with over 30 DVD's to watch, WIFI, and a day bed. Our ten acre property
is located across the street from a large ranch, and is a great area for hiking and biking. This property beats any hotel room in terms of privacy, space, covered parking,
and hospitality.

Liz was so sweet to help us get in a lil early so we could rest after such a long day of traveling. Upon opening the door the home smelled very fresh and clean and it was apparent there was care taken in getting the house ready for her guests. The home was fully stocked with so many things that we would use in our own home and it helped make our stay even that much better. The beds were very comfy and we felt right at home while we were there. The home is in the PERFECT location near tons of shopping, food and fun things to do in temple. Your stay will allow you to escape from city into the country, but have access to city amenities. Watch large screen streaming TV on the Pavilion or in entertaining area of the Casita. On request, we will make available, Traeger smoker, gas grill, or two burner Induction stove. Inside your room, there is small refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. We want your visit with us to be an opportunity to escape the city (like we have) and enjoy the country. We have installed a 14" gel and foam queen size mattress on an adjustable bed so that you can sleep like you are in heaven. The family room sofa offers a pull out gel mattress, but we offer a queen size memory foam tri-fold mattress that greatly improves the comfort level.

There is a rough trail from our property to the bottom of lake. We are told there is great fishing, but since we don't fish I can only relay what we've been told from guides. During your stay, you are likely to see deer grazing on the property as you enter or leave. There are many varieties of birds including a lot of Cardinals as Belinda puts out bird seed almost every day. She keeps seed down in the pavilion so that you can put some out while you sip your morning coffee. You might even see the roadrunners running along the driveway or near the trail in search of their mate or food.

* The Cardinal Cottage can accommodate four guest during a stay, but it is really designed more for one couple. Walking through the front door will put you in the entertaining room where the sofa will pullout to a queen size bed. You'll walk through a doorway that can be closed with barn doors to the bedroom. The bedroom provides the only access to the bathroom.
* The Cardinal Cottage, pavilion, and deck are on my private property. No one other than my wife and I have access to the pavilion and deck – and while we have guest, we try not to intrude on your privacy other than sometimes asking you to share a glass of wine with us during a sunset. The Cardinal Cottage is a building by itself on my property.
* To get an idea of our location and to check distances; we are about 3 miles from the Lone Star Burgers in Moffat Texas.

- "Michael went out of his way to make our visit incredible despite the heat and dryness of this summer. He had a bottle of Chardonnay waiting for us to celebrate our anniversary. He was delightful to talk to and explained about the wildlife they get there. The Cottage itself was so comfortable and beautiful. Food in the area is top notch as well. And finally, the sunset view is spectacular. Do not miss a chance to book here. It is so worth it!"

Extra large master bedroom with stunning cherry wood walls and a king sized bed located on the first floor. Upstairs features a "Bunk Room" with 8 comfy beds and has a fun "slumber party" vibe. Very open with 2 floors and 2 full bathrooms. Fully furnished, including gourmet kitchen, oversized gas oven/stove and double sized fridge and freezer. Tons of counter space inside, plus washer/dryer. Outside is fire pit, BBQ and multiple eating/picnic areas.
