‘Lakewood 5’ is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, very comfortable home built in 2014. The tinted bi-fold doors are north facing and open onto the deck. East facing ranch sliders look out to Gilmour Lake and you can bbq out here while watching the sun set. The lounge has a Smart TV, DVD, CD’s for you pleasure and the heat pump in the cooler months will keep you nice and cosy and warm.

Behind Gilmour Lake and within 500 metres of the house is the Blackhill walking/clyce track. If you are into the outdoors then the Karangahake Gorge is just a short distance and the walking/tramping tracks around Waihi and Dickies Flat are definitely worth the effort. Waihi has the only working open cast mine that is in the middle of a town in New Zealand and also has a walking/cycle track around the circumference and is about 1 km from the house.

Not to mention Waihi Beach, 10 km of white sands and Pacific Ocean. By car it is only 10 minutes away. A beautiful beach and small village with eateries aplenty to wet your appetite especially after all that exercise!!! Waihi Beach has one of the biggest RSA’s in the land and the view is to die for.

Waihi is only 40 minutes to our nearest city – Tauranga and only 1 and a half hours to Auckland so we really are in the hub of things.

We've lived here and this is what appeals to us:
Peaceful, quiet, birdlife, and only 2 km to town, which is easily walkable through the Matha Mine Pit Rim. There is an acre of land with a horse that lives in the paddock. He loves carrots and bread!
Waihi Beach 12 minutes away. 10km of white, sandy beach plus Anzac Bay, Whiritoa Beach, fishing, kayaking, walking, tennis.
Copious amounts of cycle trails and walking trails.
Plus restaurants galore, the Boating Club has a courtesy van as does the Beach RSA so transport solved for those who want a few drinks.

The supermarket is just 3 minutes drive, as well as a number of shops and restaurants. Its good if you are looking to explore Karangahake Gorge or heading out to Waihi Beach - just a 12 minute drive either direction.

This cute and cosy cottage is perched near the top of the tranquil Waitawheta Valley, at the gateway into the Northern Kaimai Ranges. Enjoy river swimming and hiking right from the property or just relax on the deck and enjoy the beauty of the valley.

5 minute drive to the Hauraki Rail Trail and the award-winning Falls Retreat restaurant.

10 minutes drive into the heart of the Karangahake Gorge and Waihi and 15 minutes through to Paeroa or out to Waihi Beach.

Extensively renovated in 2017, the cottage is fully insulated (walls, ceiling and floor) and has a modern fireplace, heat transfer system and high quality panel heating - perfect for winter getaways as well as dreamy summer days on the deck.

Feel free to wander across the land, pat the donkeys and chat to the cows. Dean's Track crosses our southern paddock and Waitawheta Track starts adjacent to our property.

We live on the farm approximately 100m away but out of view and with a respect for your privacy. Please note that our driveway does pass the cottage.

Linen is provided. This includes sheets, duvets, pillows, bath towels and mat, hand towels and tea towels. Please note the second bedroom is a bunk bed configuration. Double on the bottom and single on the top.

Wifi is free and high speed, suitable for working and watching Netflix etc. The TV has a chromecast plugged in and there is a bluetooth speaker in the lounge.

Plenty of fire wood is provided and we will have the fire going for your arrival during the colder months.

A portacot and high chair are available on request.

Late check out and early check in may be possible, just ask.

A cleaning fee of $60 applies to all bookings. This is to ensure a consistently high standard for every arriving guest. We aim for our cottage to be rustic by feel but spotlessly clean, in addition all linen is commercially laundered.

For long stays of 10 days or more, the cottage is serviced every 7 days at no extra charge. This includes a basic cottage clean, fresh bed linen and removal of rubbish and recycling. This is to ensure the end of stay clean does not become unmanageable for us in the four hours allowed for between guests, and also to increase the enjoyment of your stay!

Access to the train station, minutes from the township (walking distance even), playgrounds a plenty and is only a 5-7mins drive to the main beach Waihi and away from the hustle and bustle of Waihi beach (which is a thing during summer at Waihi Beach). The home was well equipped and spacious. The street was quiet and the enclosed property made for some awesome privacy for our often times a little noisy fanau. I would recommend this place for anyone wanting a quick and affordable get away and it being so close to Hamilton is a real draw card. My family and I will be back in the future."
