The restaurants don't seem to open until about 8pm and not much was open this early in the season although near by Grau i Platja (10-15 mins drive) is much busier with plenty of restaurants and shops and playgrounds on the beach etc. The two supermarkets in Xeraco beach were very good - Charter had better baguettes than Spar in our opinion and longer opening hours including Sunday. If you want to visit Valencia, you can very easily take the train from Xeraco station (less than 10 mins drive and free parking). Return to Valencia was 9 Euros and my 5 yr old was free. Takes you right in to the old town - beautiful city, well worth a day trip. Vicent the apartment owner was very helpful (he lives upstairs) and although he doesn't speak English we got by with a little french and with google translate!
