Our family apartment is available for parts of the year when we are not here. It is not managed by an agency. Our family members who live a few minutes away will look after you.

We’ve stayed in Airbnbs all over the world, traveling as a couple and with a young child. We know what’s needed for a comfortable holiday or place to work.

The space
We regularly stay in our apartment for months at a time, so it is comfortable and fully equipped. You can also enjoy viewing some of our original First Nations artwork from Cape York and the Kimberleys.

We often work remotely when we come to Cairns, so we have a workstation in the second bedroom. There is a monitor and printer available. Let us know beforehand if you require them, otherwise they'll be packed away. The apartment is perfect for a writer’s retreat. There are significant price reductions for longer stays.

It is also perfect for (small) families. We have an 8-year-old so you will find remnants of her in the apartment – boogie board, snorkel and goggles, colouring pens, the occasional teddy and the odd game which you can use. If you need a port-a-cot or high chair then let us know beforehand.

There are overhead fans and air-conditioning units in both bedrooms and in the open-plan living and dining room area. Keeping cool at our place is not a problem!

Both bedrooms have double beds and their own bathroom with shower, toilet, wash basin and mirror. The main bedroom also has a balcony.

We have a super comfy lounge with reclining foot rests. The main balcony off the living area has a lounge chair and table and chairs for entertaining or relaxing outside. . Evenings on the balcony are stunning: stargazing, curlews singing, and bats weaving through the skies.

The modern kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, air fryer, coffee percolator, etc and all the cutlery and crockery you need. We have a fancy fridge that dispenses chilled drinking water and ice. The pantry has a range of spices, condiments and other basics for your use if you decide to cook.

There is an internal laundry with washing machine, clothes dryer and drying rack.

Our apartment is on the upper level, so there are two flights of stairs from the ground floor. This is great for quietness, privacy and catching a breeze in the evening. However, unfortunately, it may provide a problem for people who use a wheelchair or those who have mobility constraints.

We’ve stayed in Airbnbs from Brixton to Sarajevo, Brooklyn to Ubud, Sydney to Milan. We have used Airbnbs both traveling as a couple and later with a young child. If we walked into this apartment we would be very happy with our choice.

Our apartment is in Clifton Views. The complex features three resort style swimming pools, a well-equipped gym, tennis court and BBQ area with shower and toilets. Our apartment is in the block adjacent to the largest of the swimming pools (which is featured in the listing photos). The gym is in the building next to us. These are available for your use.

Clifton shopping centre is a 15 minute walk. It has a Coles supermarket, pharmacy, liquor store, post office, newsagent, Italian pizza restaurant and butcher. Coco Mojo Bar and Grill is about 100m from the apartment down Clifton Rd near the beach.

Other things to note
If you haven't visited before, Clifton Beach is exceptionally beautiful. It is in the middle of a 5.5 km long beach that runs south from Palm Cove to Kewarra and the northern headland of Trinity. There is a coastal walking/cycling path that runs along the full length of the beach. Our apartment is only a few hundred metres from the beach - it takes less than 5 minutes to walk.

There is a bus stop almost directly in front of the complex where you can catch the bus (#110) to either Palm Cove or back into Cairns. You can hire bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters in Palm Cove, mountain bikes in Smithfield, or there are multiple hire places in Cairns. If you are planning on hiring a car, book early as prices increase and availability becomes limited during school holidays. There is free car parking both inside the complex and on the street.
