Via Monterone Luxury Apartment is situated in the historical center of Spoleto in a quiet one way street. It has been recently refurbished with style and comfort to provided an amazing base from which to enjoy your visit to this charming city.
The Luxury apartment has two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a balcony with amazing mountain views.
The city is a centre of cultural delights, in particular it hosts the Festival dei Due Mondi each summer. Regional Umbrian food is delicious and every restaurant prides itself on serving simple, fresh, typical dishes. Truffles, asparagus, peccorino cheese, local salamis and many varieties of pasta, not to mention the local wines, all are worth sampling. More than once!

Spoleto: Spoleto has been inhabited since early Roman time but today it appears essentially a mediaeval city. It flourished also as one of the Papal States and the Pope often resided in the Rocca Albornoziana at the summit of the city. Worth seeing as you walk around are The Arch of Drusus (23 A.D.) to be found near the Romanic church of St. Ansano , the Roman theatre, whose construction goes back to the first years of the Empire, and the Paleo Christian basilica St. Salvatore of the 4th century (at about 1.2 km distance to the north).
In the lower part of the city hunt out the church St.Gregorio Maggiore,(12th century), characterized by its evocative apsis zone and by the elevated presbytery, a Roman bridge (also called 'the Bloody') consisting of three arches in travertine stone blocks and the amphitheatre of the 2nd century A.D.
The duomo has stunning frescoes by Lippi and there are many delightful piazzas and winding streets to discover.

Monteluco: The sacred mountain of Monteluco has been considered a holy place since Roman times and then the Benedictines established a monastery near the summit and this provided hospitality for Franciscans and other pilgrims. Syrian monks also came here for meditation and prayer.
It is covered entirely with oaks and is now linked to Spoleto by a 13th century aqueduct. There are many walking trails to explore and the views are stunning.
At the base of the mountain is San Pietro's church built in the early 5th century and this can be seen from the apartment.

Umbria: Umbria is not as well known as neighbouring Tuscany and is consequently not full of foreign tourists. However, the discovery process is beginning and news of the delights are spreading. Towns like, Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Bevagna, Montefalco, Todi, Orvieto and Norcia are all worth visiting. Wine tasting at wineries in the area around Montefalco, walking in the many olive grove mountain paths, discovering the delicious regional menus and the slow pace of life are all highly recommended.

Bright, airy and light with abundant windows.

- "Property is beautiful and exactly as described. Minimal walking (a couple of minutes) to Piazza del Mercato with great restaurants, small markets and great gelato! The apartment is very comfortable and has a wonderful fully equipped kitchen which we used several times. You can walk to stores and large supermarkets at the bottom of the town and then take the motorized underground walkway that has a stop 5 minutes from the apartment. We rented a car several days and made day trips to beautiful nearby towns. Spoleto is beautiful with wonderful people and great restaurants. I will mention, and it is not a negative, that the apartment is on a third (top) floor and there is no elevator, so consider this if you have mobility issues. On the other hand, being on the top floor you get a small terrace (perfect for watching the sunset with wine and treats), nice cool breeze in the late evening and a nice view at night of the Duomo and "La Rocca". Already wondering when we can get back and explore more of Umbria and the Marche."

A car is not necessary because you are 10 mins easy walk to the train station, on the flat, along a wide boulevard, again, with shops, bars, restaurants, gelaterias and a park, along the way.

In a buzzy, pedestrian area, which is quiet at times, especially during the hallowed siesta period, you are surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants.

And, for those interested in history, Terrazza Bella is housed by the famous Rocca Dei Perugini, constructed by the warring Perugini at the turn of the century, who occupied Spoleto for 2 years. The turning point came when a bloody battle commenced outside the Rocca Dei Perugini between the Perugini and the Spoletini, the latter of whom also doused them with flaming oil dropped on their heads from the top of the Torre Del Olio, 2 minutes walk up the lane.

The history of this specific spot makes what happens in the Game Of Thrones look like a walk in the park !

Further, Spoleto opened a travellator at the beginning of 2015, an underground network of moving walkways, escalators and elevators, that connects all parts of Spoleto together. One of its entrances is 2 mins walk away.

Diagonally opposite Terrazza Bella is a food shop that sells salami, cheeses, truffles, prosciutto, savoury cakes, biscuits, olive oils and specialist and all at great rates. Very handy. Next to it is a takeaway pizza place, which also offers every type of ready cooked goody you can imagine. There are fresh fruit and veg shops. And, amongst the nearby bars, there is the Chocolate shop and a specialist gelateria.

With full catering facilities, you can cater cheaply at home. There is a supermarket, 5 mins walk away. However, the nearby restaurants are extremely good value - all local rates. No touristy rip-off rates here !

With an elevator and the possibility of a car space for an extra 50 euros/week, Terrazza Bella is in the best location if a buzzy context is what you are after.

Surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants, busy at times, quiet at others, especially during the afternoon, when all shuts until 4 pm.

- "We have stayed in three apartments in the same building with Umbria Holiday Rentals – I guess the best recommendation we can give as we kept returning. The apartments are supplied properly serviced with clean linen and a generous welcome pack - a blessing if you arrive late as we did. They also have good international SKY TV with loads of English speaking, movie, news and children’s channels. Best for us is the bonus of a free internet connection. Terraces are situated with open views to the hills and at the rear of the building which means you escape the buzz of the passeggiata but can join in easily (great fun!) if you wish. Furnishings are absolutely fine. I would describe as comfortable rather than luxurious. These apartments represent tremendous value for money – even if there are only two of you staying and are a perfect base for exploring not only Spoleto but southern Umbria too. We found the location to be ideal for the historical centre of Spoleto with all the attractions within an easy (albeit sometimes quite steep) walk. If you don’t fancy the walk then there are regular buses which run in circuits round the one way system and also to other nearby towns and villages. I believe that a new lift is to open soon connecting the lower part of the town to the central and upper areas. There are also several terrific restaurants in the town (details of which are left in the apartment) again all within strolling distance. PM me if you want my favourites. I haven’t been able to figure quite why Spoleto doesn’t figure more prominently on the Umbrian Tourist circuit – not that I’m complaining as it resultantly retains an admirable Italian quality. Best of all it is buzzing at night time in stark contrast to many of the more well trodden tourist towns which evacuate at night time. It has loads to offer – fabulous walks with lovely views, Roman history, opera, festivals, and wonderful food – can’t wait to get back! "

- "The apartment and the property is clearly a labor of love. Beatrice is the owner, hostess, manager, gardener, and tour guide. She is helpful, kind, and a wonderful person. The compound is close to the top of a hill, near Spoleto. It is 10 minutes removed from town. Spoleto is a prefect location to explore the hill towns of Umbria (Spello, Trevi, Montefalco, Assisi,) A car is most likely needed, unless you are into some very serious mountain biking or trail running (use a car). The gardens, the roses, the lavender, the fruit trees and olive trees are perfectly tended. It takes years of attentive gardening to create this. There is a BBQ next to the pool for your Florentine Steak. The pool is clean, clear and sunny. The apartment (we had the upstairs with the vaulted ceiling) is clean, quiet, and furnished in a classy décor. The AC works great. The kitchen is well stocked, the wi-fi is good. Spoleto is a well preserved hill town, which is not completely dependent on the tourist trade. It has all the services and restaurants, and is just a 5 minute drive down the hill. I recommend this location most highly! We were in Italy for a month in 8 locations, (3-4 days each). This is the one I remember. This one was perfect."

The cool, contemporary interior of this stunningly, beautiful apartment with air con belies the antiquity of the grand palazzo that houses it. Opening onto views of Il Duomo, La Rocca, the roof-tops of mediaeval Spoleto and the mountains and valleys beyond, this is a million dollar location ! We receive nearly as many offers to buy this sensational apartment as we do to rent it. However, please note that this apartment is priceless and, for the foreseeable future, it is not for sale !

It has 2 totally private, double or twin bedrooms, one ensuite. And, on a mezzanine floor, there is a 3rd bedroom/study area, on which there are twin beds that can be joined. While the mezzanine bedroom is not totally private, the interior of the room cannot be seen from below.

The very large and spacious sitting/dining room has dining and seating for up to 6 persons. The 2nd bathroom is off the dining area. The 2nd bedroom is off the sitting room area.

Location....

In what many of the up-market Spoletini regard as the posh end of Spoleto, Terrazza Duomo is just 2 minutes walk from Piazza Mercato and 5 minutes walk from Piazza Liberta. Here, there is the tourist office, opposite the ancient Roman Forum, where plays, theatre and dance are still performed. Nonetheless, the cages that once restrained the lions from devouring the Christians, until the audiences arrived, remain intact.

While Terrazza Duomo is not on the main drag and, consequently, not in the noisy hubbub of city life, it is within a few minutes radius, in any direction, of plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The main "action" takes place in "down town" Spoleto, a 10 minutes, inspiringly beautiful, downhill stroll. Then, rather than walk back uphill, you can take the escalator, a 10 minutes pleasure ride that takes you upwards and above the roof-tops, on a covered but open moving staircase, which delivers you finally to just above Terrazza Duomo, at the entrance to the Rocca.

And, you are a mere 5 minutes walk from the very top of Spoleto, where, crossing Il Ponte, the splendid Roman aqueduct, you find yourself in the Sacred Mountains, where there are a myriad of marked paths, following in the footsteps of St Francis and his pilgrims.

The apartment is located in the middle of the old town, in the oldest street, very close to the cathedral, theaters, most of the location to see. It is located in the second / top floor (no lift) with a view of the Rocca, St Peter and Monteluco. My Second house perfectly equipped, quite and comfortably furnished for vacation for sightseeing and trekking Spoleto and surroundings. Via Francigena is passing in Spoleto.
Two very large bedrooms, well furnished in all details, one large living room with fireplace, one well equipped kitchen with a fireplace and 1 large bathroom with tub and shower. The house is very comfortable. A spiral staircase brings to a library-room and a terrace overlooking the old town where to enjoy a good glass of wine or a light barbecue. The library has a very comfortable single bed too, but it might be cold in winter and hot in summer. No need of a car unless for leisure in the neighborhood.
This is my second house where I spend lots of my time far from Rome, when I want a rest. In the house there are three flats only. I am on the top floor (second) with the terrace.
The Umbria itself is a region with uncontaminated landscapes, interesting little towns full of art, green hills where everything tells us about a past dense of history. You walk in the small streets and you may feel to live in the middle age. It is also very interesting from the point of view of food. Its truffles and "strangozzi" (a home made special pasta) are really unforgettable; In summer there are important festival (Festival of 2 worlds - mid June-mid July)) with events of music, theater, ballet coming from all over the world , the August spoletino (August), a month of exhibition in the squares, main theater of music, art exhibition, the experimental opera festival (September) where new opera singers make their debut in a proper opera theater, The Middle Age worldwide center and many other events.
At 30 minutes driving a golf is also available (Perugia at 60 km), as well many other sports activities like rafting in the Valnerina, riding, trekking, no way to get bored or just relax! If you are looking for a place where enjoying your visit of this "green" Italian region, full of history, nature, events, this is your place. You will not be disappointed but you will love it. I am waiting for your visit. The whole apartment is available for my guests I have another place in Spoleto where I stay if the apartment is used so ready to help in case of need, and also many other friends in town and surroundings. I love to have my guests for a real Italian meal in my little hut in the middle of an olive grove when I am in Spoleto. We can organize on demand cooking lessons, restoration stages, special sightseeing in the sorroundings directly with local people to get to know at the best the beauty of this place. Spoleto is a very interesting place, full of important monuments with rests of 7 archaeological periods that show its important role in the history starting from the Roman age. The recent restoration of the entire Rocca Albornoz with the very new Civic Museum make this town a very important art center. It is now well connected also with escalators to visit the town more comfortably considering that it is on a hill with the castle on its top. Spoleto is in the middle of the green Umbria, a region in the middle of thousands of small little middle age villages, full of arts, very good food and even all kind of sports from jugging, rafting in the nearby Nera river, cycling up to Assisi in beautiful cycling roads, practice climbing wall, riding, golf, beauty farm and more

A car is advisable. But, if you are the fit type, used to walking up and down hills, and, not committed to stiletto heels, you can stay here without a car. So, one moment you are floating in the pool and the next you are wandering in the fairy-tale city of Spoleto, through arched, cobbled streets, exploring alleyways and byways, admiring frescoes, browsing museums, visiting churches and indulging your senses in the many shops, bars and restaurants, sampling the finest that Italy can offer and, far more cheaply than touristy places such as Venice, Todi or Florence. From all of the apartments, there are magnificent views across swathes of crop fields, distant dwellings, and, mountains fringing the horizons. Here is a place to just be, to allow yourself to be memorized and to submit to an inner calm.
