- "The apartment is beautiful and situated next to Il Duomo. It is 10 minutes to the main train station on foot. The taxi from the airport was able to leave us practically at the front door. There are many cafes, bars, and restaurants literally steps from the building entrance. It is also a short walk to L’uficcio, La academmia, and Ponte Vecchio. Everything in the apartment worked great, including the AC and clothes washer. We are two adults and a child and found the size to be just right. This is a great place for a small family. For me the only negatives would be the amount of stairs as it is on the top floor. Bringing up the luggage after a long flight was unpleasant, but you only have to do it once. If you have physical limitations however you might reconsider. As the apartment overlooks the piazza there is ambient noise that goes into the morning. This includes live musicians, church bells, and some evening revelry. Personally we love this as it sounds like Italy and makes the location festive. I wouldn’t call it loud or intrusive at all. We slept great every night. The check in and check out process couldn’t have been easier. Luca was wonderful and began communicating with us before we arrived in Italy. He sent very detailed instructions to get to the property including what to tell the taxi driver in Italian. Our family loved Firenze and enjoyed very much staying in this very charming property!"

How to reach the apartments by car:

From the “A1” highway take the Firenze Sud exit. Follow the ramp all the way and cross the bridge on the Arno river; at the stop light at the bottom of the bridge, turn left and follow the directions for the Viali di Circonvallazione (the river should always be on your left!). Take the riverside avenue to the San Niccolò Bridge, exit to the left then turn right onto Viale Giovanni Amendola. Arriving at Piazza Beccaria – easily recognizable from the antique gate – continue straight to Piazza Donatello – with the cemetery in the center – and drive around that cemetery, following the signs for the ZTL (limited traffic zone) and the Santa Maria Nuova Hospital. Turn right at the first traffic light onto Via Alfieri, take the first right (Via Giusti); then take the first left (Borgo Pinti)

By Train.
From the Santa Maria Novella station you can reach the apartments by taxi, it is a short ride about 10 euro (we don’t recommend proceeding on foot, especially with luggage; the distance requires at least 20 minutes walking) or by bus, with line 14 (for Il Girone or Ripa), departing from the station. Get off at Colonna 01 stop. From here head towards Borgo Pinti on foot. In just a few minutes you will reach the apartments.
The best is to take a taxi!!!

By Plane
The ‘Amerigo Vespucci’ airport of Florence is 8.5 km away. To get to the apartment use the taxi service; travel time is 30 minutes, and the cost averages between 30 and 35 Euro. From the airport the shuttle goes directly to the Santa Maria Novella Station; from there you can proceed to follow the instructions outlined in the section ‘By Train’.

We have lived in five different apartments in Florence over the last six years, and “Pinti 1” is easily our favorite; we lived there for over three months last year. It is beautifully and comfortably furnished, it’s stylish, and it clearly shows the love and care of its owner, Mrs. Claudia Morace. Borgo Pinti is a quiet, mostly pedestrian street. It’s off the “tourist track,” yet within easy walking distance to the historic center of the city. San Ambrogio market, the best market in Florence, is about seven minutes down the street. The apartment is on the top floor of a quiet building, up manageable flights of stairs. It has two floors: the top floor contains the master bedroom and bathroom and a small, quiet alcove for reading or other pursuits. The main floor contains the kitchen, dining area, living room, large bathroom, and guest room. Morning sunlight pours through the large living room window. There is a big dining room table – we seated eight for Thanksgiving dinner – and an abundance of dishes and pots and pans. The apartment is supplied with many quality bed linens and towels; there are three televisions, one in each of the bedrooms and one in the living room, and there’s a good desk where one can work at the computer; the apartment is wired for the internet. Easily our greatest surprise was that the apartment has screens, a luxury in Florence where mosquitoes seem to thrive year-round. A wonderful domestic, Marta, seems to know everything about the apartment, and if she can’t answer your questions, Mrs. Morace is only too happy to help. Speaking of Mrs. Morace, we have never met a more pleasant and accommodating landlady; the instant we met her we were struck by her warmth and friendship. We never felt that our relationship was “strictly business.” She and her beautiful apartment remain one of our happiest memories of Florence – where we hope to return very soon.

Insider Tips: VRBO in Florence, Italy

This travel tip comes from my friend Shelley in San Diego, California, who stayed in a three-bedroom apartment - a 'dream in the heart of Florence' - in December. When she told me how perfect it was for her family, I couldn't resist sharing her comments with you. I love that it's in an upscale area and close to good neighborhood restaurants. It sounds like a great deal and someplace you might want to consider for the next time you travel to Italy.

Vacation rentals are great for authentic travelers who want to connect with the community and the local culture. In my opinion they are better than hotel accommodations for 3G (three-generation) family vacations.

'We had the pleasure of staying in Claudia's beautiful apartment while visiting our daughter who is studying in Florence. We arrived on Christmas day, which we expected to be less than convenient, but Claudia was gracious enough to let our daughter store some food in the kitchen and provide her with a key in advance so that we did not need to disturb anybody's holiday with our arrival. Both apartments belong to an ancient bulding dated back to the XIV century and share a private entrance from the road, in front of the magnificent stonewall of the medieval S. Remigio Church, in one of the oldest and most famous area of Florence.

The location is so central that you can easily get back home any time of the day for a quick rest or a bite and go out again to visit this magnificent city.

All the major sites are within walking distance: Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte vecchio, The Duomo, The magnificent church of Santa Croce: everything is just around the corner.
And if you like to try the very best food you have a choice of restaurants and, most of all, you are at 10 min. walking from one of the oldest and most famous market in Florence, The Sant'Ambrogio market where you can buy the most exquisite traditional food.. and as far as ice-cream is concerned, Vivoli (the most famous one) is at 3 min walking
Via de Neri, the road at 20 mt from Via Vinegia is full of all kind of shops: groceries, take away, chemistry, fruiters, ice-cream, bakeries, mini market, bars, laundry...
Anything you may need is just around the corner

Car: The centre of Florence is closed to car with specific rules. We suggest you NOT TO ARRIVE WITH A CAR if you can. You won't need (and you won't be allowed too) to use it during your staying in the city.
Florence is on the main fast trains line that connects all the main italian cities: Rome, Milan, Naples, Bologna.. on this line trains run every 20/30 minutes and the rides are definetely much shorter than a car trip.
Also from Venice fast trains are available and a train ride from Pisa airport takes only 1.10 hour..
So if you plan to take a car just to reach Florence we strongly recommend to check trains instead.

But in case you should have it, we will be glad to give you all the informations you may need for entering and parking in this area.

The ancient 13th-century tower belonged to the very powerful Donati family. With the fortunes of the Donati family waning, the tower was incorporated in the second half of the 16th century into the palace of the Albizi, a family of Florentine merchants and bankers who long rivaled the Medici for city supremacy. From the Albizi, the palace then passed in the 18th century to the Tassinari family and finally in 1929 to the family of the present owners.

Location.
The apartment is 60 meters from the Ponte Vecchio or Old Bridge, one of the most famous Florentine landmarks, and looks directly onto the river Arno. On the opposite bank of the river is the Uffizi museum complex and the famous Vasari Corridor, which connects the Palazzo Vecchio to the Uffizi and across the Ponte Vecchio to the Pitti Palace.
Across the road is a perfectly furnished small supermarket and all around there are excellent restaurants, cafés, wine bars, fashion shops and artisans’ workshops. With just a few minutes’ walk, you can reach all the principal monuments and museums, including the Uffizi museum; the Palazzo Pitti museums and the Boboli gardens; the Piazza della Signoria with the magnificent Palazzo Vecchio as well as the Duomo or Cathedral. You can also stroll along the riverbanks admiring the city and the surrounding hills.

About the apartment.
The 'Ponte Vecchio relax' apartment is on the 2nd floor of a recently fully refurbished building with all the windows overlooking the river Arno. It has two rooms plus a spacious bathroom for a total area of approximately 400 sq. ft.
As all the windows look onto the river and none face the street, the apartment is extremely silent even when the windows are left open. It is served by a newly installed elevator and each room has central heating and air conditioning. Furthermore the floor is entirely in oak parquet except for the bathroom where the use of tiles has been preferred.
When you enter the apartment there is a small hall and to the left you access the ample bedroom with a king size double bed. From the centre of the hall you enter the large bathroom equipped with a shower and where you will also find the washing machine. On the opposite side of the hall from the bedroom you find the living room with an equipped kitchen that can be closed out of sight when not used. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave oven; an under counter refrigerator; a dishwasher and a two fire induction hob. A toaster and coffee pot are also present. In the living room the comfortable sofa can be opened up to reveal a sofa double bed.
