The room itself is cosy with enough amenities that you don't really need to leave if you dont want to. It is private, though not completely soundproof as we could hear the tenants in the main building from time to time. Blackheath is also far enough from the world but also close to major attractions like the Three Sisters in Katoomba, which is about 15 minutes drive away. Very reasonable price for what you get, I highly recommend Kalimna Garden Room, thank you very much for a comfortable stay (the bread provided was delicious btw)"

Tucked just a stone’s throw from the National Park on the outskirts of Blackheath, our property is nestled among tall trees—you might miss it from the road! We’re Steph and Elli your hosts, and we’ve called this place home for over a decade. We're long-time Blue Mountains locals and committed rock climbers and travellers. We’ve shaped this space into something simple but special.

On our block, you’ll find our small cosy house, a garage, three friendly chickens, a fully kitted-out training shed, and tucked away behind the house, a peaceful studio complete with a covered full al fresco kitchen and composting toilet, a hot outdoor shower, and a wood-fired sauna.

We love sharing this space with fellow adventurers travellers and climbers — welcome!

Guest access
The studio is located behind our house and is accessed via a path on the right hand side that runs around the back of the house—there’s no need to go through the main house. The entire right corner section of the backyard which includes the studio room, covered al fresco kitchen and composting toilet as well as the outdoor shower and wood-fired sauna, are completely yours to enjoy.

The training shed is located at the front of the property and is a stand alone building is also available for your use. There’s a shared laundry attached to the main house directly across from the hideaway that your also welcome to use. The laundry along with the climbing woody are shared with the two of us if we are home.

You can park inside the property on either the right or left hand side where ever there is space. Please note that if your car has particular low clearance the driveway has a few bumpy spots so take care. Street parking is also available if you prefer.

Please note: the composting toilet is located up a short set of wooden stairs, so you’ll need to be able to manage a few stairs.

Wood-Fired Sauna

You’re very welcome to use the sauna — it’s a beautiful way to unwind!

It takes a minimum of two hours to heat up properly.

You’ll need to know how to light and maintain a fire — it’s a hands-on process but worth the effort. This is something you have to manage on your own its not a service we provide. You can buy wood and kindling from the local service station.

For hikers and climbers - Blackheath is a fantastic base.

The space
Step back in time in a piece of Blackheath’s history. What was once McCall's General Store is now your Blue Mountains accommodation. McCalls is a light filled studio and is open plan. Experience the original floorboards and soaring ceilings. Mrs McCalls is well insulated, air conditioned with a gas fireplace.

The property has changed hands since 1880. In 1938 a sketched map of Blackheath indicates that a building on site existed as “McCalls Baker”. The store enjoyed continuous use from the period of 1940-1972 and is considered to have social significance during and post war in Blackheath.

McCalls is a perfect place to relax and unwind and is ideally suited for couples, solo travellers or a couple of friends. Maximum guests are 2.

STREET PARKING - you can park directly ON THE ROAD in front of the main property. While staying at Woodchoppers you can access the SMALL white front gate to enter the property. Follow the path to the main house and then walk to the RIGHT of the main house to the small wooden gate which is the entrance to Woodchoppers. Woodchoppers is at the rear of the property and has its own private area.

Access is private to the right side of the main residence via a well lit side pebble path leading to the rear of the residence. Cooking facilities are a fully stocked KITCHENETTE with an outdoor barbecue as your cooking facilities.

The lounge room has a leather L seater chaise and you will have access to free WIFI and Netflix, Stan, Disney+, Amazon Prime and other networks through the smart TV. The lounge room also has a sliding door which can be closed.

You will experience a king sized bed with a luxurious mattress with quality bed linen. The lounge area is seperate from the bedroom.

We have a kitchenette but NO INDOOR COOKING facilities. (We do have a bbq and 1 gas burner out on the patio). We have glasses, bowls & plates, cutlery, chopping boards, pots and pains etc. We also have a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle.

Woodchoppers was affected heavily by flooding in March 2021 and was closed off for 6 weeks. New wooden flooring was laid and some aesthetic changes were made.

The bathroom was renovated in August of 2021 and was my little Covid project.

The patio has a 4 seater dining set. We have a bbq with 1 gas side burner. We provide bbq wipes and a brush to ensure the bbq is always clean for the next use.

Amanti Garden Studio is located at the rear of Amanti Cottage (previously a popular airbnb listing). We now live in the cottage but offer the garden studio to guests who want to enjoy the blue mountains. The studio has a queen bed, private bathroom, flat screen tv and two seater couch. There is no dedicated kitchen, however there is a bar fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker so you are able to make breakfast and light snacks. Guests have access to our laundry and bbq on the back deck.

The space
Our garden studio is located at the back of our home. You have your own private access, via the carport at the side of our home. The studio has its own bathroom, but only a basic kitchenette (bar fridge, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and electric fry pan). We are happy to wash dishes on your behalf, or you can use the laundry on our back verandah. You are welcome to make use of our lovely garden.

Spend your days adventuring through the abundant walking tracks, all within walking distance. Sophia is perfect get away if you want to immerse yourself in the blue mountains bush, listen to the native birds sing, or simply to have some quiet time

Sophia has her own private entrance and parking, and is separate to the main house. The cottage is self-checkin: the keys are in a lockbox, code provided closer to your checkin time.

The main house is separate and occasionally occupied by the property owners, who visit to tend to the gardens and enjoy the beauty of the Blue Mountains. We are always happy to say hi and recommend some of our favourite things!
