THE SPACE

If you are going to stay in the mountains, be sure to do it in classic mountains style!
Dalpura blends modern conveniences with that classic cathedral timber ceiling mountains cottage character.

Be greeted with views of the stunning Kanimbla valley at the end of the road as you drive in, you feel as though you are really on top of the blue mountains and adventure awaits. And indeed you are, as Blackheath is the highest village in the mountains, sometimes getting snow in winter time. And the dark clear night air is fantastic for star gazing.

If you are lucky you might even find yourself face to face with a kanagroo or echidna in the main street or local field around dawn or dusk.

Dalpura is the perfect place for a romantic couples getaway, but is very popular with small families or two couples. The cottage comfortably hosts four people in two bedrooms. We recommend only four guests maximum as there is only dining and seating for four.

The gorgeous large main loft bedroom with queen sized bed has that classic wooden mountains cottage feel about it.
The 2nd bedroom downstairs has a King sized bed that can be split into and made up into two king singles upon request after booking.

The Grand Canyon, Govett's Leap, and the Rhododendron gardens are only a short drive away, as are many other classic Blackheath bushwalks and lookouts.
Blackheath is an ideal location to avoid the mainstream crowds at Katoomba, yet only a short drive to access many classic and stunning locations and activities.

The cottage is a short few minutes drive to the main street of Blackheath village, one of the last bastions of the classic Blue Mountains. The quaint shops, art galleries, and nice selection of cafe's and friendly laid back atmosphere will delight you. A strikingly different atmosphere to tourist focused Katoomba.

Blackheath is also a great base to visit Katoomba, Leura, Wentworth falls, and Mount Victoria. Jenolan Caves is only 1 hour away and can be done as a day trip.

Dalpura is situated in a quiet secluded street perched on the edge of the Kanimbla valley. It's secluded location has that real mountains feel to it.
The night sky above Blackheath with the Milky Way is just amazing.
Wildlife abounds, and kangaroos and echidna's have been known to wander the streets and the nearby oval at dawn and dusk.

The Thermostat Control Panel is hung on the corridor wall. Please open the cover. Simply push the button from Off position to On position (labelled in Red). Then you can adjust the temperature by pressing the + or - buttons.

Winter is the most popular season in the mountains. Many people love fireplace and firewood. We have prepared reasonable amount of firewood for you to enjoy during the winter months from June to August. Based on our experience, the amount of firewood should be sufficient to get you start for your stay. If you need more firewood, you can easily buy it from the nearby petrol station. To protect our environment, please consume firewood responsibly.

For Summer, we have split air-conditioning system in the lounge and all of our bedrooms. You may use remote control to adjust the temperature easily in the lounge and each room.- Standalone laundry room at the back of cottage with washing machine and dryers. It connects people from the cottage to Blackheath village and the train station. -Three bedrooms (each with a built in wardrobe), the main bedroom has a king bed, the blue room, a bunk bed (top bed only suitable for a child) and the loft bedroom, a double bed. All beds are made prior arrival. There is a portable baby cot and chair.
-Two bathrooms: the main bathroom has an in ground double spa bath, a shower and toilet. The other, a shower and a toilet combined with laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer). There are plenty of books and games to choose from while you relax in front of the fire. The dining area comfortably seats 6 people, while the north-facing, sunny alcove is the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee with views over the garden.

Kitchen - The stylish kitchen is furnished with stone counters, custom cabinetry, and a large hardwood island bench and equipped with everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal or just a simple snack including, gas stove top, oven, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster.

Bathroom - The modern bathroom is fully equipped with a shower, toilet, vanity and heated towel rail. Towels are provided.

Bedroom 1 and 2- The two queen bedrooms come with quality bed linen, built-in robe and air conditioning.

Access to the Blue Mountains national park couldn’t be easier, with the start of the picturesque Pope’s Glen hike just 5 minutes’ walk from your doorstep. The rest of Blackheath’s stunning lookouts and hiking trails are a maximum of 10 minutes drive away. We are more than happy to provide local information and recommendations on hiking, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities in the area.

Magnolia cottage is a 1.5 hour drive from central Sydney. If you are travelling by public transport, there is a bus stop 2 minutes walk away, on the Hat Hill Road / Clarence Road intersection. Alternatively, Blackheath train station is a 15 – 20 minute walk.

Our little cottage is nestled on the edge of the national park but only 15-20 min walking distance to both Blackheath village and Govets Leap's stunning views.

It's the perfect spot - surrounded by gorgeous gardens and homes, but still close to fabulous mountain walks - you have the best of both worlds.

The space
Our Little House is a simply & comfortably furnished cottage, (think 1950's holiday house) with lovely bush views. It's not fancy. If you're looking for starched sheets and spa baths (a la 5 star hotel) this is not the place for you. Fern Hill Cottage is a real Blue Mountains weekender.... reminiscent of a bygone era.

You will enjoy exclusive use of the whole house - you won't have to share with others , but bedroom access will depend on booking numbers & linen will be charged accordingly. Even if you are only 1 person, you won't be sharing the house with anyone else.

There are 2 bedrooms available, with comfy beds & fresh linen, a lounge/dining and a full kitchen - all this for the same price that is usually charged for a single room, studio or motel room in the Blue Mountains (& much less than a hotel room).

The bedrooms are snug, the entertainment areas are quite roomy & the deck is fabulous!
Fern Hill Cottage offers you cosy, clean, comfortable & affordable accommodation in a peaceful (& I think, romantic) environment.

We are especially lucky because our yard has the privilege of playing host to many local birds - kookaburra, parrots, galah, wonga wonga pigeons, satin bower birds, cockatoo, ducks(!) & even lyre birds. Occasionally we are visited by wallaby and wombat (I suspect -in fact I know!!!- they are sampling some of our bush regeneration plants.) You may be lucky and see these rather shy creatures.

It goes without saying, that since we are on the edge of the bush, we are not next to the shops - it is a 15-20 minute walk (depending on the length of your legs!) ......or a 2 min drive.

Our garden has a lovely outlook across other gardens and Blue Mountains National Park.

For those who like to be active there are lovely walks nearby. Blackheath golf course is 2 minutes drive. Horse riding in the valley (10 mins drive). Climbing & canyoning for the more adventurous.

Don't forget your swimmers.... Blackheath's historic open air pool is open from November & the swimming holes in the national park - well..... they're open all year (only for the brave!)

Work desk & chair/s are available for those who would like them for long term stays.

Due to lingering concerns about the corona & flu virus , we are taking even greater care with cleaning & hygiene. Commonly used hard surfaces are all washed & then disinfected (including, hand controls, handles and light switches). All the linen is washed at 60 degrees C , and has a disinfectant rinse & is then stored for at least a week between guests.

Misty Glen is located in Blackheath, which is two hours from Sydney in the Blue Mountains, a UNESCO Heritage Listed area.

It comfortably accommodates 4 adults in 2 bedrooms, each equipped with queen size beds with electric blankets and Australian wool quilts to keep you warm on cold nights as well as ceiling fans to keep you cool in summer.

Rustic old mountain cottage, full of history and character. The house is old and a bit quirky, but very cosy. Recently fully repainted and new carpet throughout. A great place to retreat from the busyness of Sydney, with fantastic valley and cliff views from the house and large front yard. Blue Mountains bushwalks right from the front gate. The house is small but sleeps 6, and there is an additional cabin at the rear with comfortable bedding for another 4 people. Note that the living and dining areas are small and therefore better suited for smaller groups, so for larger groups use of the outdoor areas and facilities (outside dining table, seating and bbq) is the best option. If 5 star luxury is your thing, this is not the house for you. If, however, you're looking for a really unique mountain experience for friends or family in a cosy cottage with awesome views, the nook is a great option to consider.

There is off-street undercover parking for one car, another car space behind and free parking in the street.

Alambil Cottage is an original two bedroom timber Mountains cottage, lovingly renovated, featuring a classic flower garden complete with a fountain and lots of local birdlife. It is an easy 1 km walk from the train station/centre of town but is located in a whisper quiet cul-de-sac, close to the World Heritage Area and bushwalks. The cottage includes everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable mountain retreat, including central heating, a wood burning stove, aircon & a clawfoot bath.

The space
The cottage has high ceilings, timber floors, and woollen rugs, and has been designed to let in the sunshine and provide views of the established flower filled garden. Because of its secluded position in a quiet cul-de-sac, wildlife (even kangaroos!) is often seen on the footpath.

The cottage is only a short 1km stroll to Blackheath village centre, cafes, coffee shops, restaurants, local markets and train station, and a 15 minute drive to Katoomba. You can also walk to the start of some of the best bushwalking tracks in the Blue Mountains.

We are also very close to the Campbell Rhododendron Gardens which is a beautiful spot for a morning or evening stroll. You'll find the gardens particularly spectacular during Autumn, and in October and November during the Rhodo Festival.

Inside the cottage, soft colours and fabrics are complemented by original works by local artists.

We have everything sorted to manage all weather conditions. The cottage has gas central heating and a combustion stove (wood provided in winter) to keep you cosy and warm. The living area and the back bedroom are also cooled/heated by an electric split system air conditioner. Finally, there are also portable air purifiers/fans available.

The two beds are brand new, and bamboo sheets, goosedown quilts, electric blankets and Egyptian cotton towels are provided.

One bedroom includes a mini library with scores of books and DVDs, including a local bushwalking guide. You can select a book and snuggle up in bed or outside in the garden amongst the flowers and native birds.

The main living area includes a large flatscreen TV with Netflix, and a chest of drawers full of board games.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook at home, including baking dishes, saucepans and some pantry staples like cooking oil, salt and pepper. The kitchen includes a gas stove and a small fridge. There is a full size fridge and freezer in the laundry. There is also a brand new Delonghi automatic coffee machine with grinder, milk frother and beans plus a huge selection of teas to choose from.

There is also a gas BBQ and outdoor dining setting for enjoying outside dining during the twilight evenings.

There is a separate desk, if you need to work, and free WiFi.

Guest access
You have exclusive access to the cottage and grounds. There is a small studio and storage shed plus a metal garden shed in the back garden- these are not accessible as we use them for storage.

Other things to note
One box of complimentary firewood, fire-starters and matches are provided during the winter months only. Additional bags of firewood and kindling are available from the Blackheath IGA, Mitre 10 or any of the service stations along the highway. Otherwise there is central heating throughout the house to keep you toasty warm!

The space
Blue Gum Cottage is a relaxing home away from home, situated in a quiet neighbourhood close to Evan's Lookout and many fabulous bush walks but still only a 5 minute drive to Blackheath Village.

Showcasing rustic timber cabin charm from its exterior, the front door opens to a recently renovated, light, bright, inviting and stylish space.

The cottage consists of open plan living, dining and kitchen with vaulted ceilings and skylights. You will find comfortable sofas, an armchair for curling up in front of the cosy wood burner with a book, and a smart TV with Foxtel and Samsung TV Plus for getting stuck into the latest miniseries or movie!

There is high speed wi-fi, a Bluetooth speaker, record player and a variety of books, magazines, puzzles and games available for use during your stay.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to cook up a feast which can be enjoyed at the dining table or alfresco in the beautiful gazebo. Nespresso machine and pods (including decaf), French press for those that prefer to bring their own coffee and a selection of teas, hot chocolate, instant coffee, sugar, milk, olive oil, salt, pepper, herbs, spices and stock cubes are available.

A Weber family Q gas BBQ is located on the back verandah and a variety of cooking accessories including roasting rack/pizza stone and utensils are available.

There are 2 beautifully appointed bedrooms and a dedicated workspace overlooking the garden.

The cottage has a newly renovated bathroom with separate bath and shower, separate toilet and fully equipped laundry with a washing machine, dryer and ironing facilities.

Outdoors you will find full length front and back covered verandahs overlooking the gardens planted with a variety of beautiful trees and shrubs. Enjoy your morning coffee on the back verandah watching the local birdlife, regular visitors include King Parrots, Kookaburras, Satin Bower Birds, Eastern Spinebills, Rosellas, Wattle Birds and Willy Wagtails. Cross the bridge over the pond and enjoy a glass of wine in the gazebo while waiting for dinner.

Special touches throughout complete the picture including welcome goodies, fresh flowers, hats/gloves/scarves for winter and pool towels for using the local pool in the summer.

HEATING/COOLING
A wood burner, reverse cycle aircon units (heat/cool), portable heaters, bathroom heater, a portable fan and electric blankets will ensure your comfort year round.


WOODBURNER
From April to September the wood burner will be set up and ready to light with kindling, firewood and fire lighters. A basket containing firewood, kindling, fire lighters and matches will also be provided.
Additional firewood and kindling are available from the Blackheath IGA, Mitre 10 or any of the service stations along the highway.

[ Living with Nature ]
Being set in the Australian bush means close encounters with its wildlife and natural beauty. While we regularly conduct pest control, encountering insects and animals is part of the country escape experience. We seek understanding from our guests that this immersion in nature does not warrant refunds.

[Children]

The property has several features that make it unsuitable and unsafe for children below the age of 12 including an unfenced pond, verandah railing style and a woodburning fire.

If you would like to bring an infant who is not yet mobile we can provide a travel cot on request but will need you to please bring cot bedding. We can also provide a highchair and a baby bath upon request.

Living area - The beautiful and light-filled open-plan living and dining area is always cosy with a wood fire and split air-condition. There are plenty of books and games to choose from while you relax in front of the fire. The dining area comfortably seats 6 people, while the north-facing, sunny alcove is the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee with views over the garden.

Kitchen - The stylish kitchen is furnished with stone counters, custom cabinetry, and a large hardwood island bench and equipped with everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal or just a simple snack including, gas stove top, oven, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster.

Bathroom - The modern bathroom is fully equipped with a shower, toilet, vanity and heated towel rail. Towels are provided.

Bedroom 1 and 2- The two queen bedrooms come with quality bed linen, built-in robe and air conditioning.

Bedroom 3/Study - This peaceful study includes a laptop desk and chair, with a sofa that easily converts into comfortable double bed.

For children - If you are travelling with infants, we can provide a highchair, travel cot, bassinet and baby bath on request.

Garden- The back door leads to a sheltered deck, opening on to established gardens with a range of cold-climate trees. With the native bush just metres from the doorstep, Magnolia cottage gardens are visited by all manner of native birds, and kangaroos can often be found at the end of the street.

The space
If you are going to stay in the mountains, be sure to do it in classic mountains style!
Dalpura blends modern conveniences with that classic cathedral timber ceiling mountains cottage character.

Be greeted with views of the stunning Kanimbla valley at the end of the road as you drive in, you feel as though you are really on top of the blue mountains and adventure awaits. And indeed you are, as Blackheath is the highest village in the mountains, sometimes getting snow in winter time. And the dark clear night air is fantastic for star gazing.

Dalpura is the perfect place for a romantic couples getaway, and is very popular with small families or two couples. Complimentary wine awaits you upon arrival.

The small cottage comfortably hosts four people in two bedrooms. There is an extra double sofa bed in the media room if needed (sheets not provided for sofa bed). Although we recommend only four guests maximum as there is only dining and seating for 4.

The gorgeous large main loft bedroom with queen sized bed has that classic wooden mountains cottage feel about it.
The 2nd bedroom downstairs has a King sized bed that can be split into and made up into two king singles upon request after booking.
The quilts are super warm 12 TOG thermal rating.

Dalpura is situated in a quiet secluded street perched on the edge of the Kanimbla valley, it has that real mountains feel to it.
Wildlife abounds, and kangaroos and echidna's have been known to wander the streets and the nearby oval at dawn and dusk.
Walk the Grand Canyon track after dusk and marvel at the spectacular glowworms! They are really out in large numbers at the moment.

Extensive guestbook in-house with all sorts of recommendations on things to see and do.

Access to the famous Porters Pass loop track, Centennial Glenn track, Fort Rock, and the stunning Grotto canyon is at your door. These tracks offer world class lookouts, and the Grotto canyon is not to be missed - all within walking distance.
Take a bottle of wine to Fort Rock and watch a stunning sunset over the Kanimbla valley.

You can also walk to Blackheath via the Centennial Glenn track and the Grotto canyon. Great for a morning adventure before having lunch in Blackheath.

The Grand Canyon, Govett's Leap, and the Rhododendron gardens are only a short drive away, as are many other classic Blackheath bushwalks and lookouts.
Blackheath is an ideal location to avoid the bus loads of tourists at Katoomba.

The cottage is a short few minutes drive to the main street of Blackheath village, one of the last bastions of the classic Blue Mountains. The quaint shops, art galleries, and nice selection of cafe's and friendly laid back atmosphere will delight you. A strikingly different atmosphere to tourist focused Katoomba.

Blackheath is a great base to visit Katoomba, Leura, Wentworth Falls, Mount Victoria and beyond. Jenolan Caves and Bathurst are only 1 hour away and can be done as a day trip.

Electric Car friendly (we have an IONIQ), with a 32A 7kW outlout on the front porch, with a 7kW type 2 fast charger you can use. There is also a 240V 10A power point and extension cord under the front porch to slow charge your EV overnight with your own EVSE.

The loft bedroom is obviously up a flight of stairs, but you can use the downstairs bedroom if the stairs are too much.
There are five steps to get into the house, and the shower is over the deep bathtub.
The driveway is loose gravel.
