Our new lounge area has a cozy Rinnai real flame gas log fire which pumps out the heat to cope with the coldest of winter nights. The Katoomba Retreat is divided into two totally private units, the Lotus
Suite and Indian Haveli. They can be booked separately, or reconfigured as
one big house for larger groups. The retreat can sleep up to 13 people.

The 3-Bedroom + Sunroom Indian Haveli has stunning escarpment views from every room, and the sun-deck.
It has an open plan kitchen/living area upstairs, with a sunroom and

combustion stove to keep you warm. We provide wood for
autumn, winter & spring. We also have gas heating for those late evening

There are some lovely walks in the surrounding area, including Nellies Glen, which is part of the Six Foot Track. Cahills and Narrow Neck Lookouts are only a short walk away, as well as the famous Three Sisters.

Katoomba is also famous for its galleries, antique shops, cafes, & restaurants. Plenty of places to eat, if you do not fancy cooking. By the way the kitchen is fully self-contained.
We also have natural roof ventilation, ceiling fans, awnings and sun blinds to keep the retreat nice and cool in the summer.

Nellie’s Cottage is nestled in its own little garden featuring both traditional cottage garden flowers and Australian natives with abundant birdlife. Inside this beautiful birds and banksia themed cottage you will find everything to make your stay memorable and comfortable in any season.

This adult-friendly and lovingly restored cottage is perfect for:

The Space
There is a cute corner wood burner for those cold winter nights, along with reverse cycle aircon and heaters in both bedrooms.

A fully equipped kitchen and a BBQ are there if you would like to eat in, or you will only be minutes away from the best eats that Katoomba has to offer. There are plenty of recommendations in the information compendium. A gourmet continental breakfast basket awaits as well as a plentiful selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate options. French doors open on to a west facing sunny deck with escarpment views to enjoy with morning coffee fresh from the coffee machine, or with an afternoon/evening glass of wine.

Bedrooms
The banksia bedroom has a king sized bed and the lyrebird room has two king single beds, all with gorgeous high quality linens. In the cooler months you will find quality electric blankets on all three beds. Both bedrooms include two luggage racks each.

*The banksia bedroom can be configured to take 2 beds - the original king plus an added king single so we can now offer 4 separate comfy beds for a maximum of 4 guests. Please let us know if you would like this option this at the time of booking with a message - we do require a minimum of one week’s notice so we can rearrange the room and add the extra king single bed for you.

Bathroom
A spacious bathroom contains an easy access shower as well as a separate bath to relax in after bushwalking and exploring.

The entertainment corner features a TV and DVD player along with a plentiful supply of books, games, DVDs. There is local area information and Blue Mountains recommendations. The corner also has a device charging station for your use.

You will only be 10 minutes walk away from Cahill’s Lookout with its breathtaking views in to the Megalong Valley. A 5 minute drive will either take you into the main street of Katoomba via the Gully and the Aquatic Centre or around Cliff Drive to Scenic World or up to the train station.

Nellie’s Cottage is situated in a very quiet location and is the perfect destination for relaxing and becoming reacquainted with the beautiful Blue Mountains.

The space
You will love Kedumba Cottage for its flexibility in accommodating family and friends alike. Three spacious bedrooms (two queen beds & the 3rd bedroom can be configured with two twin beds or a King bed), two bathrooms (two showers, one bath) and a Queen size sofa bed in the lounge area. (Next door is also an Airbnb that sleeps up to 6 guests - ask for link)

The lounge is spacious and stylish with plush rugs and mood lighting for your cosy nights in. During the cold winter nights you can enjoy a real fire (wood burner). One basket of wood is provided upon request. The 42" smart TV links to the wifi (for streaming) and local channels.

There is a large private deck area accessible for the lounge for outdoor dining (with a BBQ) as well as a small garden beyond.

The dining area between the lounge and kitchen has room for up to 8 people to enjoy a formal meal or for you to just hang around and play games (we provide some board games and cards for your enjoyment).

Heating: We have central heating throughout. A combustion wood fire in the lounge room. Electric blankets on the beds. And oil heaters in the bedrooms.

The kitchen is well stocked with pans/utensils for cooking home meals, with all the essentials you need to make you feel instantly at home (including a new coffee machine for those essential espresso/lattes)!

We stock kitchen cleaning products, basic supplies, pantry items and fresh tea towels.

Other things to note
NOTE: we do accept pets and charge an additional cleaning of $55. We ask that you don't let your pets on the sofas and beds. We also ask that pets are not left home alone, as a strange house can be distressing for your pet and our shared-wall neighbour.

Please be mindful (as there is a shared wall, front yard and backyard fence between the two houses):
- Aware when in the living room/kitchen area how loud you might be, especially if there is 6 of you and next door might only be 2 people
- Noise carries when sitting outside, especially on a still night
- No running (children or pets) up and down the hall as it can makes a lot of noise and echo disturbing next door
- Leaving your dog behind when you go out, they may become stressed and bark.

Also we want to know - your host (Lynn) lives next door and is always happy to help with any concerns or requests.

We use a smart lock on the front door.

Your personal access code is the last four digits of your phone number.

On the door lock, press in your four digit code and then hit the bigger button (with writing, it's under the round disk) - you will hear the lock open.

When leaving house anytime just press big button under 'round disk' to lock, best to hold the old knob to keep it firmly closed. You'll hear it close. We apologise for the 'door gymnastics' but its an beautiful old house.

**Parking and directions to Kedumba Cottage - 84 Waratah Street

Kedumba cottage is easy to find and located very close to the main street - restaurants, cafes, shops and supermarkets.

If driving from Sydney take the Great Western Highway until you get to Katoomba.

You will see the main turn into Katoomba on the left, at a set of lights with tourist signs for Scenic World and Echo Point. Turn left, go over the bridge and through the round-a-bout into Parke Street. Follow Parke Street until the t-intersection. Parke Street runs parallel to the main street.

Turn left at the t-intersection into Waratah Street. Continue on Waratah Street through the next round-a-about (Katoomba Street - main street). At the next intersection, Lurline Street you need to give way to traffic, turn right then immediately left into Waratah Street.

The house is on the left about 300 metres. It has a white picket fence and wooden gate arch.

The address is 84 Waratah Street.

Parking in this part of Waratah Street is un timed and free.

Upon arrival use your personal code on the electronic smart lock and press the bigger button under the disk.

Please keep the gate shut as I live in the adjoining property with my dog.

With the gate it does have a locking mechanism (pushing in button at latch) so take care not to lock it by mistake. We have left a key in the lock at the gate. There is a gate key hanging on the clothes hooks in the hallway (I have a spare). At this stage we are wanting to keep it unlocked, especially as both houses use the entrance.

Driving from Sydney:

Heading west, travel along Parramatta Rd onto the M4 Western Motorway.

We are a short drive from Katoomba and Leura shops, cafes, galleries, 3 Sisters, restaurants and some of the best running, climbing and bushwalking locations in the Blue Mountains.

We have two large bedrooms upstairs, both with queen beds. Both rooms have ample space, some clothes storage (and / or wardrobes ) and a leafy outlook.

Downstairs you will find the third bedroom with 2 bunks, providing 4 single beds. A large cupboard allows for storage.

'Burnie Brae' - Blue Mountains - Australia is a non smoking and pet free environment. The premises are only suitable for a maximum of 2 persons to stay at night and we ask you to restrict your visitors to a maximum of 2 persons only, unless a greater number is agreed to by us, prior to the event.

We further ask that guests and their visitors do not create any undue noise which my impact or be offensive to our neighbours especially between the hours of 10pm - 8am.

The premises are not to be used as a 'Party House' and any such activities are strictly prohibited. Offenders will be in breach of their conditions of use for the premises and will be evicted immediately by the police thereby making any refunds invalid.

Firewood:
We know you will want to use the fireplace as part of your stay at ATELIER, but please note that we are not bound to supply firewood at any time as part of your agreement to stay at the property, as the premises does have reverse cycle heating and air con provided.

Generally firewood is supplied by us during the cooler months (Apr to Sep), but at no time is it's supply ever guaranteed.

So there are times when you may have to supply firewood own at your own expense.

For an update on this item and its availability, you are better off sending me a text or e-mail closer to the time of your stay and I will advise accordingly.

When firewood is available (which is most of the time in the cooler months), it is located under the verandah extension of the main house to keep it dry.

So please help yourself.

However, you are required to make your own kindling by using the axe provided to make smaller pieces of firewood, to get the fire started.

If you are not confident using an axe to make the kindling, I can only suggest that you purchase some (at your own expense) from one of the local service stations on the highway on the way up to the mountains.

I do not have the labour resources on-site to sort this out for you.

During the warmer months (October to March) your are welcome to use what is available if required. But again, there is no guarantee during warmer months of it’s supply.

Should we not have any firewood on-site, it can obtained at your own expense, and can usually be bought at one of the two 24 hour service stations located on the main highway.

I’m dipping my toe in the AirBnB waters to rent a spare room. I’m a keen hiker and happy to provide recommendations or show you around.

The house is 15 minutes walk from Katoomba station and a short walk from the nearest bus stop.

The space
Classic Blue Mountains weatherboard cottage in a quiet neighbourhood. Surrounded by oak trees the cottage enjoys a central location a 15 minutes walk from Katoomba station.

I’m just starting out on AirBnb so I’m renting my guest bed out - it’s a cosy room with a vintage queen brass bed, comfy armchair and a small dresser. The room also has a blackout blind, heater, and fan.

The sofa in the lounge room is actually a sofa bed and I’ve got all the usual conveniences like a tv, wifi and books to read, but sprinkled with some kooky mountains charm. There’s a gas heater in there too, to ward off those wintry nights.

I live here so there’s a full kitchen, no need to worried about the classic AirBnB bare cutlery drawers. I’ve also got all the basics if you fancy cooking a meal or making a cup of tea. There’s also a desk workspace at the back of the house with plenty of power points and a monitor.

Shared access to the bathroom which has been renovated, with a shower over a bath and a washing machine. No dryer, but there’s a clothesline out back or a drying rack for the lounge room.

The backyard isn’t fully fenced so not pet friendly yet (sorry!) but I’ve got some little veggie gardens on the go and a fire pit I pull out on those golden lazy evenings.

I’ve also got child-locks for low cabinets/the door separating the lounge from the bedrooms, if you’re travelling with kiddos.

Other things to note
The cottage is ~2km from both Leura and Katoomba - about 1/2 hr walk along the highway. Do you need a car? Probably, if you're planning to explore and/or are not keen on walking ~2km each way to get shopping / eat outs / access tourist bus etc. Alternately you can get the train up the mountains, hire a car here or use the hopon-hopoff bus to the main sites.

If you're planning to hike, check the National Parks NSW (NPWS) website for up to date info on closed tracks and other conditions. And the weather of course!

Many bushwalks start from these two locations.

House rules: We do not allow pets. Please keep noise to a considerate level to minimise inconvenience for our neighbours. The cottage is not available for weddings, parties, film sets, or other similar types of events.

Trinity Cottage is not on that list.

Trinity Cottage was originally the Katoomba Youth Hostel, and the unique architecture is a giveaway to those times. After that it was used as a Christian Retreat, with youthgroups and bible study groups coming from all over NSW to enjoy its hospitality.

Since acquiring the Cottage Carol has overseen many improvements, including,

- A refurbishment of both bathrooms,
- The installation of a new kitchen (one of the real features of the house),

Ideal for couples, friends and families wishing to escape the busyness of the city for a breath of fresh mountain air and a much needed break.

The space
The original cottage was built in 1897 on the site of the Carrington Orchard, the garden still contains many old apple trees from that time. The dining room is lined with the original pressed metal panels, providing a wonderful sense of history. The cottage is warm and cosy, with an open fire, central heating and underfloor heating in both bathrooms.
The deck provides a wonderful place to sit and relax and enjoy views of Narrow Neck. It is especially wonderful during the changing light of day, either with an early morning cuppa or an evening drink as the sun goes down.
The kitchen boasts a 900mm Ilve oven, generous bench space, and an integrated dishwasher, perfect for cooking a family feast. A BBQ is also available on the deck.
The shops are only a stone throw away and yet you feel well away from the main street of Katoomba, which offers countless cafes and restaurants, the little lost bookshop, and a wonderful bakery. Not to mention the Carrington deli and bottle shop, which offers gourmet delights and regional NSW wines (and those from further afield).
We have intentionally kept this cottage technology-free, with no TV and no WiFi. There is instead a multitude of board games for all ages and a wonderfully cosy lounge to curl up with a good book.

Circa 1920, as the name suggests it used to be the house on one of Katoomba's dairy farms.

The house has a rustic mountains charm, and is thoughtfully curated with a collection of antique pieces which reference its past as a dairy farm.

Please note there is no TV at the house, but there is fast WiFi and plenty of books, magazines, puzzles and playing cards to make some special holiday memories with good friends and family.

The house has an oversized wraparound veranda with a sofa for lazing away sunny afternoons with one of the many books that adorn the mantelpieces.

For the cooler months we have electric heaters, hot water bottles and extra blankets in each bedroom, plus a split system air-conditioner and combustion wood fireplace in the lounge area which is super toasty once it gets going!

Blue Mist Cottage is our family’s home away from home – an original mountain cottage that we have lovingly restored combining its original character with modern luxuries, making this a perfect base for you to unwind after a day exploring the mountains.

Located in a quiet residential neighbourhood, our home is just a short drive from Katoomba's town centre and only 10 minutes walk to the stunning natural beauty of the iconic Three Sisters and numerous hiking trails

Enveloped in front and back mountain gardens with meandering pathways, enjoy a drink on the back patio, or steal some quiet moments as you wander through the mature cool climate front garden.

In the cooler months, cosy up in front of the remote-controlled fireplace and enjoy the garden view from the living room, or curl up on the cushy couches for a Netflix movie or two. One of the couches is an award winning sofa bed that converts easily to a comfy queen-sized bed. The living room can be fully enclosed to create a private sleeping space if needed.

The cosy kitchen and dining space is the heart of the home. For days when you don’t feel like venturing out, whip up a meal with modern appliances. Enjoy complimentary tea, hot chocolate and Nespresso coffee. A washing machine and dryer is handy for longer stays.

On rainy days, curl up with a book from our bookshelf, or enjoy many of the Board games provided. Otherwise, catch up on Netflix on one of our two smart TVs. Free wifi throughout the home.

The three bedrooms are warm and cosy and dressed with French linen. The second bedroom and adjoining third bedroom/sunroom is accessed through the same entrance. This is a versatile space – great for parents who like an adjoining space for young children to be close by, and equipped with a separate smart TV to keep the little ones entertained. The trundle day bed in the third bedroom/sunroom converts to a double bed for flexible sleeping arrangements. Alternatively, guests can use this space as a reading room or private lounge to enjoy views of the back garden.

The 2 generously sized bedrooms will accommodate 2 couples comfortably, bedding arrangements will accommodate up to a maximum of 8 guests.

The two newly refurbished bathrooms are equipped with Egyptian cotton towels and Wallawa Indigenous Botanical shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and bath salts. After a long day of hikes, soak in the clawfoot bath and relax your tired muscles.

Guest access
Entire cottage plus building amenities are included in this rental. Please, make yourself at home, with the exception of shed and locked cupboards.

Other things to note
Please remember that you’re staying in a house, not a hotel. Please treat the space with respect. If any problems arise, we will do our best to take action ASAP, but there is no one living on site 24/7.
