Auberge de la Croix du Pape is a former olive mill named after a cross here to mark a Pope Pius VII's visit in 1814. Rooms are listed separately but can be booked collectively. Enjoy a large terrace and great views. Some areas are still being renovated, but that should not detract from enjoyment of a great location. Breakfast 7€, pls order in advance.

The space
Olive Mill Suite
The Olive Suite can be rented with the Olive Room with its share twin beds ... ideal for a family. The main Olive Mill room does not have windows and natural light, but is well lit with about 30 downlights! Or use subtle lamp and secondary lighting. I have added a small shower room and toilet.
The adjoining Olive Room, which provides your private entrance to the Mill area from the garden, does have a French Door and a window in the ensuite.
There are two single beds in the Olive Room (it has a larger ensuite) and the main Olive Mill area has a King size bed 190cm wide, a sofa and a long bench seat which can become a single bed. It has a table for four ... or more if you need it. It features a simple kitchen area - a self catering space with simple amenities of an induction hot plate and a microwave and bar fridge. A small ensuite with shower has been added ... great for friends travelling together or a family needing more space.
The room is large enough for a family or friends to share by adding a second double bed or single bed instead of the sofa or table if you want your own space with dormitory sleeping arrangements.
The huge 190cm wide bed is great for taller people like me, who have enjoyed this space in the past.
It is the area where olive oil was processed and features the large olive grindstone (with seating around it) and the olive presses. They're like huge objet d'art.

You can enjoy the spectacular views from the large paved terrace and shaded garden with the view of Eze Village and the Mediterranean. We have a barbecue on the terrace you are welcome to use and if you want to make a salad or do some jacket potatoes to go with it I can supply you with what you need.

Auberge de la Croix du Pape on the great driving road Route de la Grande Corniche between Nice and Monaco has stunning views of the mediaeval village of Eze and The Med. It takes its name from a cross outside commemorating Pope Pius VII staying at the auberge 200 years ago. The Pope came this route to crown Napoleon Bonaparte the Emperor of France and to marry him to his Austrian bride ( no, not Josephine).

Auberge de la Croix du Pape is a former olive mill named after a cross here to mark a Pope Pius VII's visit in 1814. The original Olive Mill Grindstone and presses date back to well beyond his visit. The Olive Mill was an important local building with olive growers bringing their produce to be processed.

Guest access
Some areas are being renovated so please understand that its a work in progress and you get to see that evolution. I don't want to restrict guests from the business end of the work where we have storage and equipment to do our work next to a parking area you can use. Under our terrace there is a casual lounge opening on to the terrace to relax out of the sun or inclement weather. It's not all finished but 99% of guests enjoy our place.

During your stay
I'm very excited to share with guests any tips on places to see and tips on hidden gems you get from local knowledge. The Auberge was a working olive oil mill at the time of Pope Pius VII's visit. Our cool Olive Room still houses the huge grindstone in a pit to mash the olives and huge wooden corkscrew presses to squeeze the last oil from the fruit. We are at a loss to explain how the grindstone was driven but we believe two "tank rooms" of water were used to pump water up the hill to drive a water wheel when the topography of the land was quite different. We have photographs from former owners of the Auberge in the early 1900s showing their family and construction of the upper building on the ruins of the olive mill. The temperature at the Auberge.., 500 metres above the sea is a few degrees cooler than Nice, especially in the afternoon and early evening when the sun goes rounds the corner of our hill and gives you some relief from a hot day perhaps at the beach ... or just enjoying our sunny terrace or shaded garden to read and sunbake.

A bright, spacious, sunny, one-bedroomed flat (approx 60sq mt) with exceptional views of St Jean Cap Ferrat and the Cap Estel with all the modern amenities. Ideally situated between Monaco and Nice, not far from Italy and a 5 minute walk from the beach, bus routes & train station. Eze sur Mer is a tiny paradise on the Riviera which remains unspoilt and which we would love to share with you on your travels

The apartment is attached to our villa, but with a separate entrance.
A private parking space is available, with remote, inside the property for a medium sized vehicle as roadside parking is not advisable in Eze. This is an added bonus !
There is also access on foot to the property through a separate gate with independant intercom system.

The space
Le Cabanon d'Isidore is brand new! It's a wooden guesthouse with a green roof to blend in with the environment. Located on a terrace in our garden, our house is just above.
In the main room of the Cabanon d'Isidore, a 140 cm double bed, two closets, a small table, a resting bench.
A kitchenette equipped with a small fridge, small dishwasher, induction cooktop, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and kettle.
The bathroom separated by a wooden sliding door, includes 120 x 80 cm shower, sink and toilet. We provide bed linen, bath towels and pool towels.
On the terrace side, a swimming pool in a pretty garden overlooking the sea. Deckchairs will allow you to enjoy the calm and sun.
