Welcome to our Guesthouse! This was my grandparents' house. It is a family home, where I spent most of my childhood. It was built in 1955 and is large, with several bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, dining room, four bathrooms, garden and terrace. As I love it, I turned the house into a Guesthouse called À da Avó (Algarve expression for the abbreviated grandmother's house). The Guesthouse has 7 rooms and receives a maximum of 14 guests.

The space

As I love to host, I transformed the house into a Guesthouse called À da da Avó (a local expression for the grandmother's house). The Guesthouse has 7 rooms and receives a maximum of 14 guests. Our home is located 15/20 minutes walking distance from downtown and parking in the area is free. Faro is a small town but full of charm, light and sun and here you can enjoy one of the islands / beaches that we have, eat fish and fresh seafood and full of flavor, stroll and get to know the rest of the Algarve, since the train station and access to Via do Infante are quite close.

Guest access
Check in is from 2 pm to 8 pm and check out is until 11 am. If guests wish to check in outside these hours an additional fee of € 10 is charged. Guests have access to the communal kitchen, dining room, living room and back yard from 9 am to 4 pm.

- In the chapel of the Baroque Igreja do Carmo Church are over a thousand skulls and bones of monks. Well worth seeing!
- In the museum Etnografico you can see old crafts, tools, rugs, and traditional houses. Many pictures illustrate the former way of life.
- The Museu Maritimo Ramalho Ortigao is the maritime museum. There are many ships from the time of explorers.

Eating and drinking in Faro is a pleasure. In the nature reserve Parque Natural da Ria Formosa mussels and oysters are grown. In addition to fresh fish knows the menu in Faro even more delights such as lamb, chicken and the local delicacy Porco Preto. (Black colored pork)

In the Centre of Faro you can enjoy food and drinks in one of the many cosy restaurants, especially in the pedestrian zone. The city market (Mercado Municipal) allows you to get fresh produce from the area. The market has also clothing and handicrafts.

For nature lovers is the natural park Parque Natural da Ria Formosa a topper with a coastline of about 60 km. A band of island protects life in the lagoon from the open sea, but is always the ebb and flow of influence. In this environment are wetlands, salt marshes, Straits and channels. In the lagoon are various kinds of shellfish and many species of fish. As a result, birds and other animal species, such as herons, storks and the snipe.

In Faro and the surrounding area are many beautiful long beaches. The Beach Praia de Faro is one of the islands off the coast of Faro. A bridge connects the island with the mainland. The bridge is accessible by bus (8 km) or from the other side by boat. The cosy island has all sorts of facilities and various restaurants.

The space
Friendly neighborhood, just a 1-minute walk from the Arch in the Old City, where you will find a wide variety of monuments and historical places, also on the corner of the building you can find a local market, restaurants, local transport, ATM and many other local shops. We have prepared all these amenities and a friendly environment thinking about our last trips and what we expected from a place to spend good times, close to the beaches. For your convenience, we will provide: Air conditioning, 1000bps WIFI access, 55 HD TV, bed linen, hair dryer, towels, first aid, iron, international adapter and electrical extension, spare pillow and blankets, umbrella and beach towel.

Our house is very cozy and very spacious. We have a large patio, a living room and a shared kitchen. You can enjoy complete privacy and a restful night's sleep. Although we are usually available, there are times when guests can opt for self check-in, giving you even more flexibility (please contact us first).

You can expect accommodation in the city center. The best experience you can expect from an Airbnb. Many hosts pride themselves on creating spaces for memorable family vacations. And some Hosts specify that their space may not be safe or suitable for children or infants. Fortunately, we are prepared to accept guests ONLY from the age of 18. Remember that, for security reasons, your photo profile must match your photo ID to confirm your reservation

Welcome to our Guesthouse!
This was my grandparents' house. It is a family home, where I spent most of my childhood. It was built in 1955 and is a large house with several bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, dining room, five bathrooms, garden and terrace. As I love to host, I transformed the house into a Guesthouse called À da Avó (Algarve expression for grandmother's house). The Guesthouse has 7 rooms and receives a maximum of 14 guests.
