The space
When relocating to Hilton from Zimbabwe in 2003, Gateside Guesthouse took our breath away with its stunning views and Victorian charm, typical of the area. It's easy to believe that one has stepped out of Africa in this lush, misty countryside... Gateside is definitely a "character" home, being part of the original "Kings Gap" farm, since subdivided and now with the main Victorian farmhouse next door which dates back to the 1800's.

The view still attracts as much as ever; constantly changing with the seasons and different weather patterns (which, in Hilton, is often!) The story goes that Gateside is the oldest Bed & Breakfast still in existence in Hilton. It has a central location, convenient to local shops & restaurants, but is tucked away in a peaceful cul-de-sac. We have wonderful countryside in this area so come & enjoy our beautiful Midlands.

We are a happy bunch with longstanding staff who welcome you with friendly smiles. We hope you feel at home and comfortable, whether visiting for business or pleasure.

There are information folders giving places of interest, restaurants and activities in the area and there is also a selection of brochures to be found in the hallway of the guesthouse. We have seven restaurants and local village shops within 1km of us and easy access with the N3 highway 2kms away. Pietermaritzburg city center 10kms.

For guests who wish to eat in, we offer a delivery dinner service from one of our excellent local caterers: a tray is brought to your room with main course and side dishes and dessert. Orders need to be made 24 hours prior and please let us know of any specific dietary requirements.

A choice of either a full health and delicious, traditional English breakfast or a substantial health option is served in the conservatory on the deck of the main house. Open between 7 to 9am Monday to Saturday and 7:30 to 9:30am Sundays. If guests require an early start, please give us 24 hours' notice and we will provide a health breakfast tray to your room.

Other conveniences available are a laundry service, brains/barbecues, fax facility and all credit cards are accepted. Children are welcome and they are provided for.

Our home is centrally located in the quiet town of Hilton. We are on the doorstep of the tranquil Midlands Meander, a short drive from the Drakensberg mountains and an hour or so from the beach. We are also surrounded by gorgeous game reserves and parks.
Our home is quiet, relaxed and welcoming. We live on the property but guests will enter their rooms through a private entrance and garden.
We have 2 dogs that will welcome you warmly but will soon settle.

The space
Our space is modern, clean and peaceful yet we are walking distance from local restaurants and shops making it extremely convenient.

The Denn can be rented as a 1 or 2 bedroom option.

Room 1 enters onto the main flat (livingroom, dining room, kitchen) which will be for private use.

Room 2 has a kitchenette and living area with a desk with the option to open onto the main flat area, if the 2 parties are together. Otherwise, the interleading door will be closed to ensure privacy for both parties.

The outdoor garden might be shared at times if the parties are separate.

Guest access
Guests will enter through the main motor gate but will have a private entrance to their private garden and entrances to the rooms on the side of the property. The garden is completely private with kept gardens.

Other things to note
We are opposite the local Crossways Restaurant/ pub so you might hear karaoke and singing going on till about 22:00 but it isn't extremely loud.

We have kids on the property and might have visitors so there might be some noise at times which we will try control especially if guests are on the property but your entrance is private with a private garden.

The Denn will be cleaned Monday to Saturday but no cleaning on Sunday.

Please ensure that all windows and doors are closed properly when you go out as the monkeys know exactly where all the good food is.

Welcome to our newly renovated, self-catering cottage. We're located just 2km from St. Annes and a 15 min drive from Hilton College. Hilton Life Hospital is a 7-minute drive away.

Inside, you'll find a king-size bed. We also provide an additional bed for those traveling with children. Enjoy our uncapped WiFi service and smart tv.

The fully equipped kitchen caters to all your culinary needs. In the event of load shedding, our cottage is equipped with solar power and a gas stove top.

The space
The cottage consists of a spacious open plan lounge and kitchen, whereby the couch can be converted into a single bed for couples travelling with a child. The main room features a king size bed, with bed heaters, which can be split into two twin beds. The main room has an ensuite bathroom. The cottage has it's own private garden area as well as a patio and braai facility. Guests have access to an off-street covered parking adjacent to the cottage.

The space
When relocating to Hilton from Zimbabwe in 2003, Gateside Guesthouse took our breath away with its stunning views and victorian charm, typical of the area. It's easy to believe that one has stepped out of Africa in this lush, misty countryside... Gateside is definitely a "character" home, being part of the original "Kings Gap" farm, since subdivided and now with the main Victorian farmhouse next door which dates back to the 1800's.

It became our home and 11 years' later, the view still attracts as much as ever; constantly changing with the seasons and different weather patterns (which, in Hilton, is often!) The story goes that Gateside is the oldest Bed & Breakfast still in existence in Hilton. It has a central location but is tucked away in a peaceful cal-de-sac.

We are a happy bunch with longstanding staff who welcome you with friendly smiles. Our aim is that everyone should feel at home and comfortable, whether it's business or pleasure.

Each of the units comes with the following amenities: panel heaters, electric blankets, hairdryers, hospitality fridge, tea-rays, Dstv commercial bouquet, wireless internet access and fans.
Whilst the family units are all fully self-catered, all the doubles and three-sleepers are semi self-catering being provided with microwaves, toasters, crockery and cutlery.

Guest access
There are information folders giving places of interest, restaurants and activities in the area and there is also a selection of brochures to be found in the hallway of the guesthouse. We have seven restaurants and local village shops within 1km of us and easy access with the N3 highway 2kms away. Pietermaritzburg city center 10kms.

For guests who wish to eat in, we offer a delivery dinner service from one of our excellent local caterers: a tray is brought to your room with main course and side dishes and dessert. Orders need to be made 24 hours prior and please let us know of any specific dietary requirements.

A choice of either a full health and delicious, traditional English breakfast or a substantial health option is served in the conservatory on the deck of the main house. Open between 7 to 9am Monday to Saturday and 7:30 to 9:30am Sundays. If guests require an early start, please give us 24 hours' notice and we will provide a health breakfast tray to your room.

Other conveniences available are a laundry service, brains/barbecues, fax facility and all credit cards are accepted. Children are welcome and they are provided for.

An old Hilton home with a unique charm. The house is set in a large rambling garden and has a pool for those hot summer days.
There is also a lounge and patio which are available for guests.
The house is a stone's throw from St Anne's College and Cowan House. Hilton College is also easily accessible .
Hilton is the gateway to the Midlands which is full of interesting attractions.
There is a shopping centre nearby.

Guests may use the lounge and dining areas. They are welcome to swim in the pool and relax on the patio. Should they need to use the well equipped kitchen that too is available

Umoya is set in a large tranquil garden. It is a place to put you feet up and enjoy the peace and quiet. Take time to cool off in the pool or sit on the patio and enjoy a cup coffee.

Umoya is well situated for access to the Midlands and to St Anne's College, Hilton College and Cowan House.

The space
Cherry Blossom has view the garden. The room has two three quarter beds which can be pushed together or separated depending on your preference. The room has lovely wooden floors and large cupboard space. There is an ensuite shower and toilet.
In addition, there is an attached lounge with large flat screen TV that opens onto a terrace which overlooks the garden.

Bonnie Braes 2 is a luxury two-­‐bedroom unit; 1 king bed en suite; 2 single beds en suite. The open-­‐plan kitchen is equipped for full self-­‐catering and a spacious, comfortable lounge area enables guests to relax and socialize.
