The Prohibition Penthouse
Soak in the deep tub overlooking the farmlands, while watching the birds soar across the vast skyline.
As you enjoy the bubbles, you can think to your self, "This mansion has defiantly seen better days"... Thats because it's old, and this house has some crazy stories to tell. Now our little gang of "found family" have come together to give you a stay that you will never forget!
Come and enjoy Prohibition Farm and explore the enormous house with all sorts of activities hidden around the many rooms. In the summer the yard is a fantastic retreat with recreation trails just outside the front doors!
Come and play in our broken down palace that we have tried to stuff some life back into! Have some fun poking around a home designed by someone who had no business creating a floor plan! Come support our families who are providing live and work opportunities to people with different abilities supported under CLBC.
The 1500sq ft Penthouse suite comes with two bedrooms, and a private deck that over looks the ocean. On the other side of The Penthouse a cemi private patio overlooks the pool area and yard. The View Point Living Room is also private to your suite, it has a sweeping 180 degree view of the Fraser River pouring into the Pacific Ocean. The Penthouse has a mini equipped kitchenette inside the walk in closet that also has lots of room for clothes. The Kitchenette sucks, however it works in a pinch. Don't forget that the main kitchen is only down stairs and is common! The Penthouse suite provides you with your own hidden apartment within the mansion!

THE SALE
As we set up, we are still figuring out all the details as we restore this once abandoned mansion. Keep reminding your self "it's not the Hilton"! Our prices are currently lower as we continue to improve. One thing we are working on is heat! Bring slippers or extra socks. Your suite is nice and warm, however a 12000sqft house with stone floors and all windows, means the floors are always cold. The house is doing the best it can, trust me! The temperature of all common areas is set to 20 / 21 degrees celsius. Please keep in mind with the size of the home, glass walls, and stone floors are not helping our heating efforts. The suites are all smaller spaces with more normal ceiling heights and closed doors, therefore are able to stay much warmer.
All amenities are shared -----> This includes the outdoor BBQ kitchen, fireplace area, and excessively large pool, pool table room, library, ping pong table, main house kitchen, and hot tub.
(No Sir , you didn't rent the whole mansion for $300 a night, those other people using the shared amenities are allowed to be there... No Sir they are not breaking in........ Yes this is a real story! Haha) Remember - Your Suite is an "apartment" within the larger building.
The estate grounds are about four acres and sit across the street from the Fraser River emptying into the Pacific Ocean. We are a short distance away from many parks and have public access to the Dyke pathway across the road!
Why is the listing so secret with the strange photos and limited details about the mansion?
It is fun and different concept and a little bit of a gamble on your part! Besides, do you really want to stay in another Airbnb that looks like an Ikea catalog? Painting everything white is not a renovation btw ;) As you arrive you will quickly see how big the home and property actually are. We downplay this in the photos to allow for a bit of a surprise.
Short term rentals are not looked on favourably by everyone. Therefore, taking this fun secret/hidden approach has allowed us to provide living / working opportunities for the people with intellectual disabilities we have adopted into our family. As we avoid being bothered by anyone.
(Yes the bnb is allowed here as we are a working farm. This makes the bnb agrotourism as we are zoned A-1. Thanks for checking in on us mystery person who needs to find a hobby, Knitting? :p )
Your host family lives on the property in a separate house, yet well hidden! We are close by if you need anything! This doesn't mean expect me to drop what I am doing to bring you an extension cord... This means If there is something that needs to be addressed ASAP there is always a neighbour close by to help.
You will probably see people of all sorts of abilities cleaning, gardening, or just hanging with their peers. Please remember that some of these people are differently abled and may not know the best way to say “hi” back!
Security
The property is gated. Please do not give out the gate code to anyone. If you are meeting a delivery driver or a taxi, we ask that you meet them out front. The property does have security cameras in some public spaces. Your hosts are also on site and able to help if needed.

Smoking - No smoking inside please. There are ash trays all around the property and smoking is ok outside. Smoking the dope ( 420 ) is also ok outside!

Other things to note
ONE car. There is NO street parking close by. So we ask that you plan to bring only one car, or have a plan to walk a bit to get to the second.
Number of Guests - This suite is set up and ideal for only 4 guests. we WILL NOT accept requests to host more then 4 in one unit. We will NOT allow you to invite other people over to our house! It takes away from the experience and makes me very grumpy. Please registered guests on the property only. We do rent out the whole house, you can always ask about our event rates. It isn't cheap.
No, sorry you cannot have your sisters’ kids over for the day to use the pool. Registered guests only. Registered guests only. Registered guests only.
(One time I came home to a wedding happening in my back yard. NO JOKE. This is why I have to put this here!)
- Yes, we have a total person limit for the property that we actively monitor.
- Kids are welcome however this property is large and there are many places an unsupervised child can find trouble. We ask that children are never unsupervised. (Please no glitter... Now imagine why I need to write this here...)
If you have questions or concerns, you should check in before booking!
- Pets are allowed with pet fee. The yard is fully fenced, however there are many areas where a smart pet could escape is unattended. We also cannot guarantee an unsupervised pet wont escape.
-We have a no-tolerance rule about parties and disturbances, so please be aware that complaints coming from neighbours, notifications from authorities, notifications from our noise monitoring software, or any other proof of disruptive behaviour or loud noise between 11:00 PM and 8:00 AM will result in fines of up to $1000.00, possible eviction and / or possible legal action if authorities are involved. (we have to put this in as there is always someone who tries to ruin a good thing for everyone)
NO PETS LEFT ALONE IN THE SUITE! Thats kinda mean to them... Crate? We can talk.

This property is situated fairly close to the village of Ladner, where you can find restaurants, and some shopping. It is a flat area, which is amenable for walking. It is within walking distance to the Fraser River.
People from all backgrounds are welcome in our home.
For those people with allergies, there is no carpeting in our home.

Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood in the historic Ladner, BC, this one bedroom self-contained guest suite offers a great base to explore Greater Vancouver and all it has to offer.
Newly renovated and features high speed Wifi, smart TV, fully equipped kitchen, laundry and more making this a great choice for your next stay. Plenty of natural light, vaulted high ceilings and strategically placed wall art make this suite perfect for remote work.
The space
The suite has one bedroom, a full kitchen, dining area, living room, full bathroom and a washer and dryer. It’s fully equipped with everything you need to make a gourmet dinner, 58 inch smart TV with Netflix, high-speed internet and remote working area. There is a smart lock for contactless check-in and lots of free street parking (ample space for a large RV).
It’s well set up for a maximum of 2 adults and could also on accommodate up to 1-2 children (under 12) on an air mattress in the living room. Please note that this set up will limit or eliminate your dining room space.
Please note that the suite is on the second floor, is not child proof with an unsecured staircase and hence is not suitable for families with mobile babies or young toddlers (older than 5 months and younger than 24 months, depending on mobility).
In the bedroom you will find a Queen size bed with a hypoallergenic duvet and 400 thread count cotton sheets. Dimmable camp-style bedside lamps are perfect for reading and there are 4 convenient USB plug-ins available built into the bedside tables.
The suite also has a Yoga Mat, some board games. Hand-carved art from a local artist is available for sale.
The suite is located above the garage of our home and has a private entrance. Our property is located on a residential street with low traffic during the day and almost no traffic at night. The suite faces south east is very bright with morning sunlight in the bedroom and afternoon lighlight in the living room. If you are used to sleeping in complete darkness and complete silence, please plan on travelling with an eye mask and ear plugs. You can expect to hear an occasional car driving by, children playing, an occasional dog bark, lawnmowers and leaf blowers, residential construction in the distance in the summer months and the garage door opening and closing a couple of times a day.
We look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world to our home and speak English and French.

The suite is fully self contained with bedroom, kitchen, living/dining space and laundry.
It has a private entrance through a shared walkway with smart lock for contactless check in. There is a Ring camera by the exterior door of the suite, please press the ring button to video call our cell phones if needed.
Please note that our backyard and back deck area are our family's space and are not for guest use.
Other things to note
Walk to numerous restaurants, boutiques, bakeries, coffee shops, grocery stores, a book store, gym, outdoor swimming pool and several parks.
To turn on the shower, please pull down the round lever located inside the bath faucet.
There is an AC unit in the bedroom to use during the summer months. There is no AC in the rest of the suite. To cool down the suite during unusually hot days we recommend opening all of the windows at night (after sunset and before 8am) and closing all of the windows and blinds during the day. The suite is equipped with multiple fans. During the winter the suite is heated with electric baseboard heating. The electronic wall thermastats display current room temperature.
