The Oceanfront Inn Cabin is a cozy nook that contains a queen bed in the main room, and a separate bedroom with a twin bed. Enjoy a BBQ on the private covered deck, or cook indoors with the full kitchen/dining area. Full bathroom includes a stand up shower. A shared hot tub (extra fee) is accessible at the main house. This cabin is great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and small families.

The space
This building stands alone among other rental units. The queen bed is located in the main living space. A twin bed is located in the (small) back bedroom adjacent to the bathroom. The bathroom is spacious with a stand-up shower. The kitchen provides everything you need to dine in with coffee/coffee maker, 2 burner hot plate, mini fridge, sink, toaster, pots and pans, and an indoor and outdoor dining options. Enjoy a fire right off the deck, wood is purchasable on-site.
You will have access to a shared hot tub located at the main house. Hot tub is available on a first come, first served basis and we ask all guests to respect others who are waiting for a turn. The additional fee of $5 per person (or $30 for the entire stay) can be paid through a qr code located at the hot tub, and also inside your unit.
Designated off street parking is located just outside of the unit's entrance.

Our lodge has a beautiful covered and heated terrace overlooking beautiful Resurrection bay and the Chugach Mountains. From our deck, you can relax and watch the wildlife... Whales, sea otters, and sea lions or eagles overhead. You're just steps away from salmon and halibut fishing on some of Seward, Alaska's best fishing charters and kayaking tours.
We have a commercial kitchen where you will get a full breakfast every morning. The kitchen is open with coffee, cookies, and tea from 7 am to 8 pm. Sorry, this is not for guest use due to Insurance reasons. We do however have a covered gas BBQ grill and picnic area for guest use

During your stay
We will have staff available 24 hours for emergencies . Office hours are from 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM located in front of the lodge.

Enjoy tidepool exploration, we have boots available to use. Take a beautiful hike to Tonsina Point. Kayaking tours are available just down the beach.

Built in the late 1930's, Moosewood Cabin offers clean, comfortable, and cozy authentic Alaskan lodging for two. A great place to base your Seward, Alaska adventures.

Summer 2025 will be our 27th season of offering Seward visitors a great place to rest after a full day of exploring the Seward Area.

The space
The 14 by 18 log cabin was built in the late 1930's. Although we have renovated the entire interior and added some touches to the exterior, the original logs and rough-cut beams make for authentic Alaska lodging.

There are llamas and one yellow lab on the property. When we are home, we will gladly introduce you to the llamas. Please note the llama fence is electrically charged to keep llamas in and any bears that may visit out.

The cabin offers a small kitchenette that includes a compact refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot...coffee, teas and hot chocolate included. An electric tea kettle is provided. Additionally, a setting of small plates, glasses, coffee cups and silverware are provided. The kitchenette is suitable for preparation of simple breakfast meals and snacks.

The cabin accommodates up to two guest!

If traveling with a child - The cabin space is suitable for a child age 10 and older.

There is a queen size bed on the main floor/living area and a single floor mattress in the ships ladder- up sleeping loft. The ability to easily climb up and down the ladder to the loft is required to utilize this space.

If requested, the ladder will be stored in the loft allowing a bit more space in the main area of the cabin during your stay.

There are two adirondack chairs for comfortable lounging on the cabin's covered porch.

Moosewood Cabin is located in a developed neighborhood, approximately six (6) miles from the town of Seward and in close proximity to many trails. The Lost Lake trail head is just 3 miles from our home.

We are happy to share ideas of activities to do while visiting Seward. As a family we have hiked, climbed, and ran miles upon miles of the mountains and trails on the Kenai Peninsula. We are happy share our vast knowledge of the numerous trails in the area.

Moosewood Cabin does not permit pets. Smoking/drug use of any kind is not permitted on or near the property. No overnight guest (guest not originally noted on the reservation) are permitted.

We have a llama on our property and when we are home, we are happy to arrange a time with our guest to meet and interact with Andrew Newton Douglas. Please note that the llama fence is electrified to keep the llama in and any bears that may visit out.

Please join us in honoring the Alaska custom of removing shoes before entering the cabin!

Prepare your meals in our fabulous shared kitchen between 7am-9pm. Breakfast items are provided in the commons kitchen during the months of June through September. It is help 'yourselves style' breakfast. Breakfast items are located in the fridge/ freezer and cupboards. For your convenience your room has its own mini fridge.

West Room
Located just inside the shared exterior North door and next to the common kitchen. This first level room has a sitting area, private bathroom, table and chairs, TV, mini-fridge and Sofa. The sofa pulls out for additional sleeping. Attached by a sliding glass barn door is the bedroom with a queen size bed, closet and small desk. The west room sleeps 2-4 guests but is most comfortable for couples and families traveling with children. Breakfast is included and is help yourself style.

Queen Studio on the waterfront with a private entrance.

The space
The ground floor “Queen Studio” is self contained with a private exterior entrance. This room has one queen bed and one twin bed, private bathroom and shower. This room has its own kitchenette making it perfect for longer stays. The picture window in this room faces Resurrection Bay.

Guest access
There is an additional shared spacious living area on the upper floor with a terrace that features spectacular views of Resurrection Bay. We provide binoculars for viewing the wildlife. Most commonly we see otters, seals, sea lions and a wide variety of sea birds. Bigger wildlife does swim by, like Humpbacks or Orcas, and we do our best to alert you of their presence. The upper common space is open Mid May through Mid September, but is closed down in the off season.

This cozy, barndominium-style cabin (1 of 2 units on property) provides a perfect escape for up to 4 guests. Ideal for a small family/group of friends, it offers a queen bed in a loft and a full-size pullout couch in the main living area.

Unwind after a day of adventure with modern conveniences like a washer and dryer, a well-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator, and a comfortable dining space. Freshen up in the full bathroom with shower, featuring all the essentials for your relaxation.

The space
Roo Roo’s Rustic Retreat is one of two rental units on the property (the other being a main house that sleeps 13 also available for rent).

There is a lockbox with a key. You will receive the lockbox code on the day of arrival. Once you enter the guesthouse, there is immediately a sofa, coffee table, TV, and chair in the living area. There is also a bistro table for four to dine. The sofa is a full-size, pull-out couch that sleeps two. There are instructions on the wall for how to make it into a bed. The TV uses Roku to allow guests to use their favorite streaming apps. The kitchen is to the left. There is a propane stove and oven for cooking and a refrigerator/freezer. There are other appliances such as a blender and toaster. Coffee is provided.

Up two steps is the restroom with toilet, shower, sink, and washer/dryer. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are provided.

The queen-size bed is in a loft up a flight of stairs. There are lamps, one side table, and a chest of drawers. The unit has a ceiling fan and Toyo heater.

Outside: Roo Roo’s Rustic Retreat has its own grill; however the fire pit is a shared space between both units.

Please message if you are also interested in renting the main house (sleeps 13). This is a separate unit from the guesthouse that may also be occupied with other guests during your stay (unless you rent the entire property).

**Warning: Accessibility to bedroom requires guests to climb entire flights of stairs. Access to restroom and washer/dryer requires guests to climb 2 stairs.**

Guest access
Guests will have access to everything in the apartment except the storage space under the loft (locked). The fire pit is a shared area with the occupants of the main house.

Other things to note
There are cameras outside on the property . These are not "gotcha" cameras. The cameras were purchased as a safety measure because of the wildlife in the area. I try to warn guests of potential bears and moose in the area.

When outside or if windows are open, you may notice occasional road noise.

There is an eagles' nest in the front of the property (when leaving the apartment, look up and to the left). The eagles tend to "talk" to each other. If you hear a sound of a bird "laughing", those are the eagles communicating. Earplugs are provided.

We are located in a quiet residential area of downtown. You will find the location and cleanliness of our b&b to be superb! We are a non hosted property with a manager on call and close. This is a first floor room in an inn with 5 rooms total. We ask our guests to be considerate of others in the quiet hours of 10pm to 7am. Our rooms are decorated in a sea theme with cheerful, light colors. We look forward to hosting you! Breakfast is served June 15 till August 15. We always have coffee!
