we are what is considered by the locals as a "dry cabin" or yurt, which means running water is not available, however, a 5 gallon water dispenser with hot and cold water is provided for drinking and cooking and a private outhouse is available for a true Alaskan experience.

Showers are available for purchase at our local laundramat 8 miles up the road** or enjoy a soak at Chena Hot Springs Resort and come back feeling refreshed and ready to relax.

Please read carefully: Offering an entire one room guest house, the space is completely separate/detached from the main home, providing complete solitude. This is meant to be an affordable alternative to other options. There is an incinerator toilet and sink, however, there is NO running water of any kind provided for this space, it is a great location to sleep, rest or relax and watch some TV, read, do some work, or just enjoy the quiet. High Speed Wifi provided. No breakfast.

The space
This compact guesthouse features a comfortable queen bed, ultra-fast 2Gb Wi-Fi, a Roku TV, a Keurig coffee maker, a mini fridge, and a microwave. The small deck is ideal for soaking in the crisp Alaskan air, and a fire pit is available (weather permitting, as summer wildfire restrictions may apply). A new aurora viewing platform is under construction for winter guests, promising unobstructed views of the northern lights. Moose frequent the area, and our retired sled dogs add charm to the property—feel free to give them a pet!

Important Notes:

There is no running water or shower/laundry facilities. A sink with a water container is provided for handwashing.

The guesthouse uses an incinolet toilet (no walls), so guests must be comfortable with this setup.

This is a minimalist, off-grid experience best suited for those seeking solitude and nature.

The common areas include the living and dining room, the kitchen, bathroom and shower room, the screen porch and yard. All guests are welcome to reasonable use of any of the common areas. Please show consideration for fellow guests, to include not leaving personal items in the common areas, and putting house items away when you are done using them. (Staff is instructed to remove any personal items to the lost and found box.)

There are five bedrooms total; please do not enter a bedroom you are not assigned to. This includes the treehouse!

The garage and shop are off limits to guests.

About 15 min from downtown. You’ll like the place because of the view and the quiet neighborhood. My place is good solo adventurers but can accommodate a couple. The one-bedroom apartment with a private bathroom is in a building next to our house.

Guests are expected to clean up after themselves.

The apartment has a computer desk equipped with a printer that you may use to print a few pages if need be. You're also welcome to use the monitors as well to plug into your laptop.

Conveniently located in West Fairbanks, 10 minutes from the airport, it features a loft bed, small kitchen appliances, and artistic decor, exclusive, private use of a full bathroom inside our home, completely separate from our personal area. The space
10 years as a Superhost, Barn Swallow Bungalow is an an 8x12' dry "Tiny House" situated in the private corner of our one-acre wooded lot. The loft, accessible by ladder, sleeps two adults comfortably on a queen-sized mattress. A refrigerator, microwave, hot kettle and kitchen-ware provide the basics necessary for simple breakfast fare.

Enjoy tasteful and unique furnishings handcrafted by the owner/artist, darkening curtains for a better nights rest during sunny summer months, and a private porch for morning coffee or evening cocktails.

While the cabin does not have running water, a toilet, or an outhouse, the immaculate full bathroom is located only 40 steps away in the main house, and is private, blocked off from the house and exclusive to guests only.

A heater is provided for late fall and winter months. Because the cabin is very small, the smart electric heater is monitored and controlled at a comfortable temperature by the host.

With ample parking space and a private entrance and self check in you'll feel at home, but to yourself.

Due to the extremely small size of the cabin and the ladder to the loft, children are not permitted with the exception of infants.

Due to the high demand here in Alaska during the summer and winter (Aurora viewing) our cancellation policy is 5 days advanced notice for a full refund (through AirBnB).

Parking for ONE vehicle is available in the front of the main house near the walk path leading to the cabin. Guests have private access to the cabin, and access to the full bathroom through our attached garage. Bathroom use is exclusive to guests only, and is not shared during your stay. The hallway is blocked off from the main living area of the house for privacy for guests.

The main home, including, but not limited to the kitchen, living room, dining room, outdoor living area (deck) and laundry facilities are not available to guests. We will be happy to provide you with clean kitchen-ware and drinking water daily during your stay or as needed.

Other things to note
THE HOUSE RULES: House rules must be read by guests upon arrival as well as the guest check-out check list. All guests are required to abide by these rules or they will not be refunded the $100 security deposit.

THE LADDER: The sleeping area in the cabin is a small loft accessible by a very sturdy, but small ladder. Persons with injuries or any other ailment that may prevent you from climbing the ladder to the bed may want to reconsider this booking.

THE CABIN SLEEPS ONLY 2: Since the cabin is only equipped to sleep 2 people in the loft, we regret that we do not offer the space to more than two adults.

THE BATHROOM IS STEPS AWAY INSIDE THE HOUSE: The bathroom is located inside the main house, only 40 steps from the entrance of the cabin to the bathroom door through the garage. It should be noted there is another small set of stairs from the garage to the bathroom area (please see photo).

The cabin is a stand-alone building and the first building on the right on our property. We're living in the main house 100 feet away, and share a driveway.

Guest access
Our property is 2.9 private acres of spruce-birch woods and lawn. Guests have access to the lawn area, and chairs are available for sitting and watching the aurora or enjoying the lawn in the summertime. The cabin is 100 feet from the main house on a shared driveway.

Please make yourself at home.

Other things to note
It's a small cabin with a full bathroom. The hot water comes from a small heating tank which can easily run a 5-8 minute shower. If the hot water runs our the tank needs approximately 15 minutes until it's reheated.

The cabin is on a septic tank, not a sewer, so please do not flush anything other than toilet paper (especially not 'flushable' wipes) down the toilet as it can damage the septic system.

We live in a rural area with a friendly dog, and frequently see moose and other wildlife around the property.

There are no streetlights, which makes for better stargazing and aurora viewing, so please take care and drive slowly up the gravel driveway, especially in winter.

We use a smart lock that will generate you a personal access code for the duration of your stay. We will send you your code a few days prior to your check in date and will also send you a reminder on the day of check in :)

Other things to note
Please keep windows closed and keep the thermostat between 65-70 degrees. Because of the radiant floor heating, thermostat changes will be gradual and temps will take hours to adjust.

Please note that we offer two options to protect both you and the property, ensuring it remains in excellent condition for you and future guests: a non-refundable Damage Waiver for a small fee $50, or a refundable Safety Deposit hold on your card of $1000, which covers potential damages during your stay. If you are bringing a pet, please know there will be a pet fee of $10 per pet. These options will be presented to you after booking via our Guest App.

Travel insurance is recommended. As with any vacation, unexpected situations sometimes occur that can put a damper on even the best-planned trips. We stand by our firm by our cancelation policy and getting travel insurance is your best option for protecting your trip from the unexpected.

***For stays longer than 30 nights we do require a lease agreement, background check, copy of drivers license, and a one time insurance fee to be paid before your arrival. The one time insurance fee for stays 30-90 nights it will be an additional $750, 30-180 nights would be $1000, 30-270 nights would be $1250, and 270-364 nights would be $1500***

For reservations longer than 30 days, we charge a doubled cleaning fee due to the increased time and effort required for maintaining the property. This additional fee helps ensure the space is thoroughly cleaned after an extended stay.

Watch the river flow in the summer, and watch the Yukon quest dog mushers go by in the winter. The Northern lights can be seen from the north and east of the property. A quiet refuge on the river.
