If you don’t want to stay indoors, this is a great place to be. Beautiful quiet place on the river. You can have a campfire, barbecue and enjoy the outdoors comfortably. There is an abundance of wildlife on the river. Enjoy some fishing as well as float from multiple places in town right to this property.

In the winter you have the northern lights as well as a frozen river for skiing, snow shoeing, ice fishing and you voupd even snow machine from this property.

Beautiful little house that is very private, close to town, but in a darker location for viewing the northern lights. Or drive very close to Chena Lakes for additional views. Spacious and cozy 1 bedroom home with ample parking for any large vehicle or trailer, including Rvs and semi-trucks. Full kitchen, full bath, and washer/dryer. Lovely neighborhood area, safe and little traffic. Quick drive to Eielson AFB, Safeway, and restaurants. Quiet and peaceful. Available for longer stays.

The space
Furnished and with everything you need for your stay. Great place for small families or couples. Excellent northern lights location (Aug to April). Big bedroom and comfy living area, and toasty warm when it's cold outside. Bathroom has a tub / shower. Kitchen amenities include drinking water, some spices, oil, coffee, tea, sugar, plastic wrap. Any food in the cupboards you are free to use. Leave what you haven't used. Bring marshmallows: Fire pit and wood are free to use outdoors.

Guest access
Entire house is yours. You are welcome to check in anytime after 3pm, and even late at night. I'll leave the light on for you. A lot of flights land after midnight, and it's ok to message me if you are arriving late. The parking area and driveway are all yours, completely private. The house is located on the pipeline easement, and you are free to walk up and down it, passing through the red gates which is on the same property. Watch for moose, fox, and lynx.

Other things to note
I am a northern lights expert and can advise you or take your picture. The aurora can be seen right from the yard. If the sky is clear, there is a very good chance you will see it if you are awake. Chena lakes is another location nearby to catch the lights. It is a good alternative if the clouds are difficult or if you would like different scenery.

Several animals are seen here. Moose frequently stroll by and sometimes just hang out in the yard. Do not approach the moose. Arctic hare, squirrels, owls, fox, groundhogs, woodchucks, and birds can be seen. Rare to see a lynx, I have seen 2 lynx in 9 years. Some neighbors have dogs.

Guests who stay more than a couple days, please take bags of trash outside, I'll see it, and take care of it.

The Farm Cottage: Is a warm and comfortable fully furnished single bedroom, single bath cottage, tucked away in the Steele Creek Valley off Chena Hot Springs Road, but only a short 10 mile drive to downtown Fairbanks.

The space
The Farm Cottage features a fully furnished living room, kitchen, laundry, bath, bedroom with queen sized bed. The living room and bed room are separated by French style doors and the living room has a twin size hide-a-bed couch. The hide-a-bed couch can accommodate travelers requiring separate beds. The cottage has a wonderful view of the farm, Alaskan wildlife and beautiful sunsets. Grill in comfort on the front porch while you enjoy the peace and quiet of farm life. Guests can expect a quiet stay with Sandhill cranes visiting in the summer and moose in the winter. Other winter time activities in the area include the northern lights, mushing, Nordic and Alpine skiing, and World Ice Art Championships! The cabin is stocked with coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well as well all the basic cooking and kitchen supplies. Price per night is based on double occupancy; therefore, there is an additional fee of $22/person/night for more than 2 guests (children under the age of 2 stay for free).

The Cottage is equipped with a key-less entry lock for self check-in. We will keep an eye out for your arrival, but you are able to access the cabin without us.

The Meadow Cottage overlooks our meadow, berry patch, apple trees and frequent wildlife visitors. The cottage is in a quiet rural residential neighborhood. It is a cozy, clean and quiet cottage. The hosts live next door. It is a 4 1/2 mile drive to town, about 11 from the airport and 3/4 mile to the Birch Hill recreation area with nordic ski trails and miles of hiking in the summer.

The space
The cottage has a small private fenced yard surrounded by lilacs and other shrubs. There is a fire pit and a gate to access the meadow. Inside there is a complete kitchen and dining area with a dishwasher, three ways to make coffee and a view of the meadow and Birch Hill. The living room has a leather couch and a leather recliner, a large wall mounted TV and a gas fireplace. The small bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and deluxe cotton bedding, night stands, reading lights and a small closet to hang clothes. There is a dresser in the living room, there are also two luggage stands. The bathroom has a front loading washer dryer tower, the shower is small but comfortable. The floors are heated throughout the cottage during the winter.
There is a garage attached to the cottage the hosts use, the only access is outside.

The cottage is exclusively for the guests. The garage is not included, there are separate entrances. The guests have a private yard and small deck with deck furniture in the summer.
