As you drive down our long driveway, you will likely be greeted at the fence by the horses. Outside, the cottage has a large front porch with seating where you can enjoy your morning coffee and view the sun coming up over the pasture. Inside, the cottage boasts restored fir flooring and stained/leaded glass windows throughout which let in lots of sunshine. The open concept layout and 14 foot high ceilings provide plenty of space. Gather some fresh vegetables from our garden and use the large kitchen to make your own meals. Watch the ducks swim on the back pond as you do the dishes, or feed the chickens your leftovers out the back gate. There is always lots of activity going on at the farm and you are welcome to watch and enjoy.

The cottage is tastefully decorated and fully equipped with everything you will need on your vacation. There is a queen size bed plus two additional futon type beds (a queen and a twin) to sleep a total of 4 or maybe 5 people (best for families with younger children), All bedding and linens are provided. You can catch up on laundry by using the washer and drier.

While at the cottage, you are in a perfect location to enjoy numerous day trips north and south to popular attractions in Chemainus, Ladysmith, Victoria, Duncan, Nanaimo, Parksville and Qualicum. Or, just stay at the farm and read a book, relax, take a hike at a local park or cook up a meal with ingredients from the garden.

Yellowpoint/ Cedar is a rural area south of Nanaimo where long winding fences, pastures, century farms and markets are abundant. Saturdays there is a local farmers market is about 6 minutes away.

The area is known for its concentration of artisans - check out the Cedar/Yellowpoint Artisans for more information and take a week to visit them all!

LOWER FLOOR
The basement entry home has one large family bedroom that sleeps 7 people comfortably. This is a great room for Kids and Teens as past guests have mentioned jn their reviews.

There is a large outdoor lakeview deck off of French door on this lower level with a WEBER BBQ and seating and a firetable, perfect for all day entertaining.
Just inside the french doors is a Full size Beverage fridge.
Extra folding chairs and outdoor dining table/chairs are on the deck on this level too.

UPPER FLOOR:
The stairs, just inside the front door on the ground level lead you upstairs to the main living area.
There is a living and dining room and large kitchen on this level.
Extremely functional and well equipped kitchen space, where you can create amazing family meals. all overlooking the lake. The home has a dining room which seats up to 8 with a few more counter height stools in the kitchen.
The 1 Large Main Bathroom is on this level and 3 of the 4 bedrooms that will accommodate up to 7 people comfortably..

This is an attached cottage with a private entrance and off-street parking. It is on a ten acre lot, not seen from the road nor overlooked by any building. The bedroom has a double bed, and the sofa can convert into a second comfortable double bed. There is a fully furnished kitchen, a bathroom with shower, a 4 place dining table, a big desk, WIFI, and HDTV. There are lots of windows, two big cedar decks, and a bbq grill. It’s light, airy and peaceful, set in a lovely garden with mountain views.

The space
This is a beautiful garden spot surrounded by forest, with mountain views. It is completely private on ten acres. The grounds are lovely and the accommodation comfortable, homey, and tastfully decorated. It is a peaceful and charming spot for relaxation.

Guest access
The kitchen is equipped with a double sink, four burner ceramic cooktop, microwave/convection oven, fridge, and dishwasher. The cupboards are fully stocked with cooking utinsels, dishes and cutlery. Kitchen basics are provided, such as an assortment of coffees and teas, spices and sauces. The cottage opens out onto a cedar deck where there is a three burner grill and outdoor coldwater sink. A second observation deck is set out in the treetops. A fountain adds charm to the garden patio just outside the private entrance. The grounds are shared with the owner.

Other things to note
There is a no smoking policy in effect on the entire property. The deck side of the house has mountain views and is where guests can grill on a propane barbecue. The sky is unobstructed, making it an excellent place to watch shooting stars. A path leads out to a second deck set high up on the bluff, making it a good observation point and a place to catch the breeze. On the other side of the house there is a waterfall tucked into the rocky hillside, a nice place for stargazing, too, especially when a flip of the switch brings lights hidden in the rocks to shine on the water. It is deeply relaxing here, with garden flowers and mountains to look at by day, an open sky to contemplate at night, and a friendly dog to curl up at your feet.

Our two bedroom fully furnished and equipped Guest House is the ideal place for a quiet, romantic getaway for two, a stopover on the way to Long Beach, a central place to stay and explore our area of the island or a fun get-away vacation for the whole family!

Guest access
Guests have direct access to the lake and dock via the path through the Japanese garden. On the dock (mid May to mid October only) we have a 10'X12' sun shade where you will find a lounger, zero gravity chairs and a table and chair set. We also have 2 canoes and two stand-up-paddle boards for your enjoyment. At lake side there is a fire pit surrounded with park benches, perfect for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows or making every ones favorite summer treat, S'mores! While it's a fun spot for the kids It's also a great place to enjoy a relaxing romantic glass of wine under a blanket of stars on a warm summer night..

Please note that there is no life guard on duty and use of the dock or water area are done at your own risk.
