Located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in Ucluelet, Reef Point Cottages offers a natural setting only 0.9 mi from the Wild Pacific Trail. Each cottage has free WiFi and Optik TV. The Haidaway cottage at Gold Coast Retreat has an ideal location, just across from the beach path to famous Chesterman Beach with two kilometers of open surf and sand and 6 km. from the village of Tofino. We offer total privacy in a tranquil setting on a warm south facing property, just one minute walk to the beach.

We accept only one friendly and small non-shedding dog, at a one time 50 dollars pet fee. We do not accept pets in July and August.

The Haidaway has two bedrooms, the downstairs has a queen size bed.

There is a double upstairs through a steep stairway which is not suitable for very young children or a person with mobility issues.

The Haidaway is suitable for a maximum of 3 guests, which is perfect for 2 adults and one child over 5 years old. The steep stairway makes it not suitable for very young children or seniors.

The cottage has a full kitchen with gas stove, full size fridge and dishwasher.

The Living room has a gas fireplace to warm up after a day at the beach.

Outdoors there is a bbq in the solarium to cook your fresh caught salmon or your special Tofino vacation meal.

Bathe in the pristine waters of Clayoquot Sounds in our original 1908 claw foot tub, comfortable for two, in a vine covered solarium . Guests have told us it is the tub of youth and feel rejuvenated.

The Haidaway features both an indoor and outdoor hot showers, perfect for surfers.

There is free wireless and high speed internet for those who need to stay connected. Telus optik TV/Stereo, a washer/dryer and dishwasher.

We were greeted with a sample of local chocolates and found a little vase of flowers from the garden in the kitchen and bathroom. I was surprised and thrilled to find tea, coffee beans, and even detergent as I'm used to bringing my own. These little touches are greatly appreciated and the other Vrbo's I've stayed at could really learn from this one! Finally, the location was perfect. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the hummingbirds and it was just steps to the beach. We fell in love with Chesterman Beach and walked it several times a day. Our original plan to visit Tofino in 2020 to celebrate a milestone anniversary and birthday was derailed by Covid but it was worth the three year wait. We had a wonderful time and hope to return and stay here again!"

The space
Cottage consists of 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a 1/2 bathroom and a Jacuzzi tub. There is a sitting chair and TV and DVD player. The 2nd bedroom includes a double bed and single bed with a sitting chair, TV, and fire place. The kitchen is fully stocked with small, large appliances and tables and chairs. There is a selection of coffee, tea, sugar and spices. There is a full bathroom off the kitchen. Living room has full size couch, sitting chairs, propane fireplace, TV and DVD player, large selection of DVD's , as well as board games and books on the area and BC. The rustic wood interior is the stuff of childhood memories. There is ample outside space. Enjoy the rustic front porch furniture, decks on multiple levels, and a good soak in the 4 person hot tub. You will love taking a hot cup of tea or coffee down to the deck with a water view.

Hearth & Cove is an easy walk to access the Wild Pacific Trail and Little Beach. Ucluelet is a 15 min walk away or a short drive. Tofino is about 30 min away by car.

Cottage is open concept. The bedrooms are separate by lay out and the living room floor but do not have doors.

The hot tub is not covered so we can enjoy the rainy and starry nights.

Check in is 4pm at the earliest unless prior approval has been given. This gives our cleaner enough time between bookings to ensure our cottage is clean and ready for you!

Any late check out without prior approval will incur a $50 an hour fee. Strictly enforced. Our bookings and ability to clean effectively between them count on prompt check outs.

The entire area has wild animals. Please do not feed any animals other than the birds. (We provide bird seed for that. Please put some out on the upper deck and enjoy the Steller Jays!).

It can be quite rainy on the West Coast! It lends to the stunning beauty here. But be prepared for it. No refunds based on disappointing weather.

Privacy outdoors is limited due to close neighboring houses. Our interaction with the owners was minimal but slightly disappointing. When our flights were impacted by a global IT issue, we requested flexibility on dates or a partial refund, but they were unwilling to accommodate. While I understand their policy, previous experiences have shown more flexibility in such extraordinary circumstances. Fortunately, our airline managed to rebook our flights, allowing us to still enjoy our planned visit to Ucluelet, which was a pleasant surprise. Despite this, the owners' inflexibility was a downside for us." Although their check in process appears to be seamless, the one slight struggle was their lock.
