An 800 square foot cottage in Anchorage's South Addition, just south of downtown. Within walking distance of a bakery, grocery store, tennis courts, the Conoco/Phillips building, the 5th Avenue Mall, the Anchorage Museum, and other attractions. The house has a small yard and, a deck with a grill for outdoor dining, Also included are a small office, laundry facilities, and kitchen equipped with many of the conveniences of home.

Cedar Alley has always worked to provide the cleanest vacation rental possible. Our normal cleaning routine has included stripping the beds down to the bedbug -proof mattress cover and washing all of the items - mattress pad to blankets. In addition, we have steam-cleaned the mattress covers, pillows, upholstered furniture, area rugs, etc. Hard surfaces like counters, tile, flooring, cabinets, door knobs, etc. have been cleaned with a solution of vinegar and water, and commercial cleaners. During this time of increased concern about the possible transmission of viruses we have added the use of bleach solution on these hard surfaces.

When I was there in May there was even a Farmer's Market nearby on Saturday. Hope to stay here again!"

- "The layout of the unit was good. We enjoyed having a gas stove and the bed was comfortable. The couch wasn't as easy to navigate, but it was okay. We did appreciate having an ottoman and end tables. I would have liked some grab bars in the shower, which is also quite small. However, the water pressure was excellent. We didn't have any place to hang up coats. A coat tree or a hook on the back of the door could solve this. Eating in was a challenge since there is no table and only one chair for the work station, which we used as a table for eating. Initial communication was spotty, but once that was resolved, the host was quite helpful. I am sure this place is much nicer in the summer when the parking lots isn't full of ice and snow."

The cabin is within a couple blocks of truly great restaurants. Spenard Roadhouse and Bear Tooth Theater are local favorites. Yak & Yeti serves great Tibetan food to go.
For nightlife, Chilkoot Charlie's is 5 minute walk which is a little mecca of different bars and has live music every night. If you head in, I advise heading straight to the bird house for some local stories. Ask the bartender there about the ptarmigan horn

Close to bus stops for those who use public transportation. Nearby there is a bike rental shop that has mountain bikes and e-bikes.

With that said, the property is a little rougher around the edges than I expected. It’s a historic home, which I wasn’t prepared for. Amenities were fine, but the WiFi was terrible. I couldn’t hold a single zoom call. Also just outside the tub is some water damage that could use some attention. The property location is not as super convenient as I had thought from the ad. You will need a car to get around. Checkout was also a small issue. We arranged with the host to check out an hour later at noon but the cleaning staff kicked us out at 11:00. Overall, it was a clean place to lay your head, comfortable bed and couch and a reasonable price point. "

Blueberry cottage is a retro circa 1960's Alaskan cottage in a peaceful residential setting. It has been updated with new finishes (flooring, paint, countertops, carpet and lighting). It is super cozy and quaint. It is perfect for the adventurer that wants to feel at home. It has lots of character, this means don't expect it to be level and square...the ceilings are only 6'8", so not for the super tall Amazons! We've resurrected it to be a fun little home away from home.

NO PETS (service/support animals allowed with restrictions).

The Kitchen is fully stocked. For the first 2 nights of stay, we provide simple breakfast supplies (Pancake/Oatmeal packages, coffee, tea and condiments). Upon request we are happy to provide a few additional breakfast items if desired. The house not only has a dining area but also a countertop bar area.

The living room includes an office nook. Basic Wifi/internet package is included. A Roku is provided for internet TV, please see Roku for more details of what is available. No cable TV or paid programming is included. In addition, there is an HDMI cable for connecting to devices or laptops to turn the TV into a monitor as well.

The bedroom has a new full-sized (not queen size) Simms memory foam mattress, which has a premium gel memory foam top layer, motion separation layer along with a supportive base layer. If you need a FIRM mattress, this is probably not the space for you. The mattress is memory foam and has support, but is soft as well. The size is perfect for a single person, fine for a couple. For a third person we will provide a foam mattress and linens for it.

Linens and Towels will be stocked and an extra set provided for longer stays. Laundry is available next door to replenish supplies as needed.

Kitchen has everything you need to cook. Has both a Keurig Coffee maker with a variety of coffee, as well as a simple basic coffee maker. We also provide an assortment of tea for those who don't drink coffee.

Laundry facilities are available next door at 6920 for guest use. Usage of the Laundry facilities is free, however, it will require a signed General Release of Liability since it is located on the neighboring property. Hours of use is tailored to the guest's needs as much as possible. Misuse or theft in the Laundry area will revoke guests rights to access.

The property is beautiful and boasts raspberries, gooseberries, currents and many flowering shrubs along with Lilac trees. There are even 2 apple trees (rare in Alaska), that will have fruit in August/September.

The neighborhood is very quiet and has lovely neighbors. We ask that whoever stays here is quiet and respectful and friendly with those living nearby. Our immediate neighbors and ourselves are very family oriented, and require that if tenants have gatherings, they are kept moderate and are not boisterous. There is no smoking of any kind inside or outside of the property. We ask that quiet time is respected from 10:00 pm - 9:00 am.
