Wanting accommodation that offers an experience rather than just a bed? The Surf Shak is perfect for people that have a sense of adventure and a love of the unique. Only a couple of minutes walk to the beach, most days you can hear the sea from bed.

The Surf Shak is a separate sleep-out, with a number of its own amenities plus a bathroom shared in the main house. One double bed is situated on its own floor, looking out to the trees (access via ladder) or there is also a double pull out couch.

The space
The Shak has been decorated over time by Owner and resident artist Wayne of the Hill and various other Surf shak guests. Just looking around would keep you entertained. We would love you to add your own artist touch too!
**If you're used to a life of luxury the surf shak may not be for you!!

The Whimsical Studio is a light, spacious and private wee haven. Fully self-contained with a larger bathroom, awesome shower and a well equipped kitchen. Surrounded by nature with a covered deck and cute courtyard to enjoy the beautiful outlook across the paddocks towards Taramea Bay & beyond. We have an array of birdlife to observe and a resident Kereru. By night stargazing is easy with the wide open sky while listening to the creek, the sea, frogs & morepork.

The space
With the covered deck designed to create space and maximize your viewing pleasure rain or shine on comfortable outdoor furniture. Its also a great space to dry wet tramping gear. Warm and toasty for winter, a mini heat pump that doesn't feel all that mini, heating the space in minutes.

We have always called our wee cabin "The Granny Flat", even though it has never been used as one. Heated with a night-store heater that keeps the flat cozy and warm.

Welcome to our newly built self contained unit on our Southland sheep farm. The unit is a magical spot where you are completely separate and private. It contains a queen bed, a small kitchen with a cooktop and microwave. There is a new BBQ located outside which you are welcome to use for cooking. There is a large well appointed bathroom and a nice private outdoor area to enjoy a drink, catch up on emails or read a book.

We live in a great part of Southland. You will enjoy the peace and quiet of the rural lifestyle while enjoying great views and interacting with the friendly sheep outside your bedroom. We are close to the Mataura and Waikaia rivers for excellent trout fishing as well as a fishing stream on the farm. You can also access nice walks at Piano Flat around 25 minutes drive and the town of Gore is a 30 minute drive.

We have a 100 year old cosy cottage that we have recently added a new kitchen and bathroom onto.
Your guaranteed a good nights sleep with brand new velvet curtains cushioning you in.
During the day rays of sunshine light up Stump cottage so take advantage of the outdoor furniture.
The local pub, cafe, park and Super market is a quick walk or minutes drive down the road.
The Oreti river is a quick walk or drive away, a beautiful way to spend an afternoon.

The space
Stump cottage is very private, hidden behind big hedges and trees. It has it’s own private carpark within the property right beside the cottage.
If you look at Stump cottage you’ll notice it’s on a-bit of a lean! That’s it’s uniqueness! Half old, half new.
It’s very close to the village of Lumsden, Oreti river, cycle trail and other destinations that you can take a day trip to.
Southland has so much to offer so this is a great cosy nook to either spend a night or use while you explore the surrounding’s.

Stump cottage is completely separate from the main house. As the guests drive in the driveway into their allocated parking spot they will be able to access the cottage at the door above the wooden steps with the glass door to enter.

Your stay in my beautiful home is important, I’d like you to feel relaxed to socialise with me if you wish. The shared spaces are yours to use, watch NZ programs, Netflix, Acorn TV. A tv is in your room for your entertainment but no wifi. I worked in Milford Sound for 4.5 years and any questions on this amazing place please ask.

This peaceful, self contained cabin is surrounded by a sheltered backyard. It`s the most amazing feeling to open the window as you wake up, and hear the birds in the large Fiordland Beech tree while the sun streams past the curtains.

The space
This is a great example of the older kiwi holiday house. It`s missing paint in a few places, has a few rough edges, but posses a wonderful atmosphere. If you`re not looking for 5 star, but would like to relax in a private green backyard with established trees you`ll love this.

You can walk freely anywhere on the property, and have your self contained cabin to yourselves. You have the back yard to yourselves, and the laundry is next to your cabin, so you can use this anytime you’d like. If there are towels and sheets in the machines they'll be from cleaning your cabin earlier, so you're most welcome to remove them when they're finished so you can use the laundry yourselves.

I'm mindful that the sink in the cabin is not the easiest to use, so you're most welcome to use the sink in the laundry for washing your dishes too.

I do have a shed on the other side of the back yard that I use for projects occasionally, so you may see me come and go from this space, but I'm very respectful of making sure you have your privacy.

The space
The Kingston Homestead is a heritage farm house which was re-located in 2003. The Guesthouse, where you will be staying, is an extension with large spacious open plan living space, 1 super king bed & bathroom, still keeping with the original charm.

The Guesthouse is a fully fenced self contained unit with a private entrance. There are cooking facilities, electric stove top, air fryer, kettle/ toaster and fridge/freezer. The lush hotel quality super king bed and wool duvet will have you feeling relaxed and refreshed, and the electric blanket will keep you toasty on those cooler nights!

There is no supermarket in Kingston, however there is a dairy at the entrance to town with the essentials you might need. We advise to bring your groceries with you if you plan to cook. The Kingston Flyer Pub is a short 5 minute walk from the guesthouse and is open most nights.

With a 65 inch TV, HDMI and satellite, your movie night is also sorted!

Access to laundry facilities can also be arranged, please bring your own laundry detergent.

There is a beach umbrella located under the bed and a picnic blanket/outdoor games in the TV cabinet, we hope you get to enjoy the beach and outdoors.

Access to the guesthouse and private gardens is via Gloucester St. The fenced yard and self contained Guesthouse can be used.

The Hot Tub is currently under maintenance and is out of order at this time. Coming back soon!

Pets are allowed but they must be kept off the couches/ beds and carpet areas. Please also pick up all dog poo.

Just 5 kms from the centre of Te Anau in a peaceful garden with breathing views of the surrounding mountains. We have two guest bedrooms each with own bathroom. While the bedrooms and bathrooms are private, you are likely to be aware of others sharing some of the other communal spaces like the guest lounge and dining room.

We just want you to be aware that we have a very friendly cat (who sometimes bites) and a newly acquired Jack Russell puppy on the premises.

The space
Self Contained unit situated on a cozy farm, this unit offers plenty of relaxing space for you to unwind and take a break away from reality.

It has a cozy Super-King bed to spread out on, along with a living area, kitchenette and ensuite that creates a Home away from Home feeling.

Tea and Coffee supplied, as well as linen and showering necessities.

Trampoline at the back of the property for everyone to use along with gateway access down to the river bank of Whitestone River.

Guest access
Access into the Farm View unit is off the side of the main House Garage. The entrance is through a sliding door along with heaps of parking space around the back of the unit.

Other things to note
Our Farm has plenty of animals that you are welcome to hand feed at anytime.

The two Highland Cows enjoy fresh Cabbage and Carrots, While George the Kune Kune Pig will eat almost any food scraps except Bones.

All the Sheep, Alpacas, & Deer enjoy pallets that are provided for you to hand feed them all.

If you see us out there in the paddocks please feel free to come out and say Hello.

Our small one bedroom flat that is centrally located will provide a secure wee secluded haven for your stay in Te anau . It has its own entrance via a side door , bathroom and small kitchenette with a fridge and microwave with a wee table for enjoying your breakfast or evening meal. It is clean and spacious
