Kia ora . So close to Burnside High School and Aurora Centre, our Potter’s Cottage Annex nestled in a garden is surprisingly quiet. As the name suggests, a Japanese potter and host has her studio in the court yard. Total floor area is approx 55m2.

There is a smart TV providing the wifi contents and Freeview NZ TV stations. Netflix is currently unavailable.
The kitchenette hasn’t got a standard size oven/ hobs, but the basic cooking equipment is provided. No range hood.

It is not the easiest place for on street parking but there is a parking space within the property for a medium size car. Shops and supermarkets in walking distance.

The Studio is a modern, light and warm space nestled in a large botanical garden setting overlooking the rose garden.

We are perfectly situated to enjoy the convinence of the city in a semi rural area. Only 3 minutes from the airport so ideal for that early departure or late arrival. There are numerous restaurants and 2x malls available within 3 minutes, including Avonhead Mall and Spitfire Square.
There is a car park specifically for our Hawthornden Studio guests.
The water in Christchurch is lovely and very safe for drinking.
The GPS systems on some rental cars take you the long way round to get to the Studio so from the airport its best to travel down Memorial Avenue then right turn into Roydvale Avenue and then a right turn onto Avonhead Road and finally a left turn into Hawthornden Road we are nor far along on the left.

Free parking is on the street outside our property - there is always plenty.

You access the studio itself via our driveway. We have a small dog, so the gate will be shut and will look very secure!

Please do just let yourself in but we would be very grateful if you could close it behind you. We have a lovely front garden which our dog (and kids!) enjoy when we have guests in the studio, so she won't disturb you during your stay.

There is a lock box with the key to the right of the window in the alcove as you walk towards the studio door.

If you are arriving at night, automatic lights will come on down the driveway and as you walk through the studio alcove. If we know to expect you at night, we will leave the studio open to make it easier for you to get your bags in - just let us know.

Wildflower cabin is situated next to our farmhouse and lawn. The dining table window looks out to the Port Hills. The orchard, berry and vegetable garden surround the cabin on two sides. Cattle and sheep graze the paddocks and hills beyond.

The deck with table and chairs overlooks a spacious lawn next to the main house with a native plant border. There is plenty of space for children to run around. Also a new trampoline with safety net and a climbing frame.

The washing machine at the main house can be used by arrangement.

Check in is usually between 3-9pm and check out by 10am but please ask in advance if you want a different time.

Guests can enjoy the garden, play equipment and farmyard at their leisure. Please check with us if you would like to explore the farm so we can check that it is safe for you and the animals.

Bee's house has views of the port hills and surrounding countryside, completely self contained including a large outside deck. queen size bed, oven, microwave, dish drawer, fridge and everything you need to cater for yourselves. Chickens roam and we have cows, horses and wiltshire sheep.

Parking is adjacent to Bee's House but there is plenty of space for vehicles. Tai Tapu Hotel is about 10 minutes away and has a courtesy bus. Lincoln township with its restaurants, supermarkets, liquor stores, pharmacies etc is 12 minutes drive. Port Hills Polo Club is opposite, feel free to go along and watch the polo matches in the summer. Cycle trails go to little river and beyond.

You will have all you need to hunker in for a cosy relaxed couple of days, or use as a base to explore Lyttelton, Christchurch, Diamond Harbour and Banks Peninsula. Sit back and enjoy, surrounded by a tranquil garden and views out over the working port.

The space
The space is airy and light-filled. The kitchen, dining and living are open plan with two comfy chairs. The bedroom is spacious with a king bed. There is a separate doorless bathroom. The space is compact and has everything you need. Wooden blinds can be dropped over the big glass views to block out sun/heat. There are floor fans for cooling in summer and a fire in winter. The studio is perhaps best suited to a couple or a single guest. There are no doors between rooms - the bathroom and bedroom lead off a small hallway. A light bamboo curtain is over the bedroom door. Necessities are supplied such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry powder and kitchen staples. Outside there is a large deck with tables and chairs. Seasonal herbs and vegetables are available in the gardens.

A stylish, comfortable and spacious guesthouse situated on 4 acres in picturesque Ohoka. Positioned privately with a lovely outlook to the tennis court, get ready to relax and unwind. Enjoy the rural surroundings, including paddocks which are home to our alpaca and cheeky goats, as well as chooks to ensure fresh eggs are always on hand!

Inside, the log burner makes for cosy winter nights with plenty of comfy seating, while in the warmer months enjoy dining outside in the afternoon sun.

Modern and fully double glazed, heating is provided in the main living, bedrooms and bathroom.

Two large bedrooms offer exceptionally comfortable accommodation, with the main bedroom featuring a king size bed, and the second bedroom home to two king single beds.

A full kitchen is available for your culinary creations, or alternatively there is a local pub and takeaways a couple of minutes drive away at Mandeville. A wider selection of eating options are 12 minutes away in the township of Rangiora as well as a boutique cinema, or head into Christchurch city for an abundance of choice.

An incredible spot to use as a base to explore Canterbury, whether it's seeing all that Christchurch City has to offer, or heading North to enjoy the incredible the Waipara Wine Valley with it's multitude of vineyards and restaurants, just a half hour away.

Hanmer Springs is a fabulous day trip, home to the famous thermal hot pools, although there are some fabulous hikes to enjoy in the area also. Travel time approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.

For winter endeavours, Mt Hutt is an easy 1 hour 40 drive making daily snow adventures accessible. There are also a number of club fields even closer.

The Pavilion is well set up to provide for the most romantic of getaways, mini-breaks for friends, a work base while travelling, or a fun family stay. We look forward to hosting you!

An important member of our family is our beautiful Irish terrior Bono. He is exceptionally friendly, rarely barks and just loves people (and rabbits). He's gentle and great with children.
