Deepwater Cabin is a solid timber framed structure built into the mountain side on the edge of the National Forest in a true, remote wilderness area. It is one of the very last waterfront dwellings up-lake, to the Northwest, that is still accessible by car. The cabin's grass- and fern-covered sod roof blends into the vegetation of its perch on a rocky point surrounded by sparkling blue Lake Chelan waters.
The location on a point gives expansive views up, down, and across the lake. Deepwater is half an hours’ drive from Chelan, far from any town lights, so one can see countless brilliant stars on a typical clear night. Watch shooting stars under the Milky Way out on the patio. In the day you will watch flocks of swallows swoop through the air catching insects, and osprey flying by, patrolling the shore for fish.
To access the lake, a trail switches back through rocky terraces down to a solid, newly built stairway and dock. At the clear, deep waters edge, swimmers can launch into the refreshing blue depths.
Boaters will have access to explore miles and miles of wilderness shoreline with a kayak, canoe or paddle board. Be aware that the lake access at Deepwater is very steep, so launching may be easier at the nearby 25 Mile State Park, a short paddle to the South.
Inside, the cabin is classic and cozy, with big sunny windows and two double patio doors. The two wings provide a sleeping space and a living/dining area, with the bath and kitchen in between. The bathroom has a new washing machine and a shower with plenty of pressure; pure water pumped straight from Lake Chelan! There is a drying rack for your wet laundry, which solar drys quickly on a typical sunny blue sky day.
The compact kitchen offers all major appliances offering all you need for great foodie meals, and the sunny, open patio is wonderful for reading, having meals and enjoying time together and an amazing place to relax. A small gas grill awaits your steaks or the beautiful trout the fisher-persons in the party may bring up from the lake, where the big fish swim by the dock.
A very comfortable queen-size log bed will accommodate two, while the living/dining area features a brand new fold-out full-size sofabed and an older long sofa for lounging and sleeping, accommodating one or two extra persons. The cabin is most appropriate for a couple or small family, it can sleep up to four. It's best to bring your own sleeping bags for any more than two, since the linens provided are for the queen bed only.
The historic, scenic South Lake Shore Trail built in the 40s by the CCC parallels the lake shore and begins just a short walk away. Larger boats can be launched at Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park, which is less than a mile from the cabin. Miles of Forest Service logging roads meander the hills just behind the property, providing access to National Forest lands for mountain bikers to explore the unparalleled wilderness beauty above the lake.
The town of Chelan has good restaurants, fun shops, a great health food store, and plenty of local wine tasting. The region has many wineries and vineyards, so you may want to take a day to sample the local fare.
One day of your visit can be spent on the Lady of The Lake, the local ferry, going up-lake to the remote community of Stehekin, which has a great bakery and access to amazing hikes in the North Cascades National Park. Another day trip nearby could be to Holden Village, a Lutheran Camp 12 miles up into the mountains, which also can be reached on The Lady of the Lake ferry. This is a playful, festive intentional community which is open to guests and provides meals and full accommodations in a village that was once a thriving copper mine.

Deep Water is located on steep topography, not appropriate for unsupervised small children, but an extraordinary get away for adventurers and outdoor lovers ~ those who enjoy wilderness, silence, and simplicity. Rattlesnakes, lynx, and mountain lions have been seen in the area, but are shy and eager to avoid people. Wild turkey and herds of deer are common. Beware the deer when driving South Lake Shore Road.

- "The cabin and amenities were very nice. We enjoyed our stay. However there was one wrinkle we must make note of. We were disappointed that the propane grill didn’t work. We had a nice meal planned around it based on the advertised availability. When we contacted host services for assistance the situation was not addressed and no attempt to correct the problem was attempted. This would have been an easy fix if someone had checked the propane tank to ensure it functioned properly in the first place."

Happy Place is state of mind on the edge of Lake Chelan. Private and isolated. It is a studio set up with a king size bed, sitting area, and table. The large deck wraps around for complete views up and down the lake. Watch the Lady of the Lake go by on it's 55 mile daily trip to Stehekin. Across the lake is the wooded and mountainous view of Slide Ridge. Happy Place is towards the end of the road on the north shore of Manson. Wilderness area extends the rest of the up lake.

Very nice, quiet little group of homes, with super nice neighbors on either side, and amazing low bank water access. Everything was clean and well organized when we arrived. Our two teenage boys and their two friends enjoyed the split level design that allows everyone to have their own space. The cherry on top of this gem of a rental is the owners, they couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive during our stay. We will definitely be back next year!"

* Guests should download driving maps offline prior to traveling to the home. Additional driving instructions and photos will be sent to guests the day of check-in to help navigate to the home.
PARKING:
Parking is permitted for three vehicles and located at the top of the hill, we will provide aerial photos to help navigate parking. Boat and trailer parking are not permitted due to very limited space available. Please do not block access to the neighbors' driveway. If you’re bringing a boat or jet ski(s), please be sure to let us know and we can help provide more details for where to rent moorage and park your trailer.
BOATS & WATER ACCESS:
You'll be able to enjoy hanging out on the dock and jumping into the lake. Please note due to gusty winds and large waves caused by passing boats, we strongly advise guests not to tie up to the dock for long periods of time. Temporary usage of the dock for loading is allowed. Anchoring of boats is not allowed due to water supply lines that run in the lake. Boat and insurance details are required. If you’re bringing or renting a boat, please be sure to let us know and we can help provide more details. Due to fluctuating lake levels, usage of the dock may not always be available. 25 Mile Creek State Park is a mile up the road, offering boat moorage, gas, a boat launch and trailer parking for a small fee.
CAMERAS & RECORDING DEVICES:
For security purposes, we have two outdoor cameras: one at the front entrance and the other looking out towards the deck, dock and lake. These cameras monitor weather, package deliveries, security and assisting guests. There are no indoor cameras.
VISITING LAKE CHELAN:
Lake Chelan has a lot to offer for every group. When you are not water skiing, boating, swimming at the lake or wine tasting, you can enjoy all that downtown Chelan and Manson have to offer. In the winter time, take in the beautiful snow capped mountains and come enjoy the many events that Manson and Chelan host (Small Town Holidays, Winterfest, Red Wine & Chocolate, winery hosted dinners and so much more!).

The only downfall would be the noisy air-conditioning unit although it worked well and kept the house cool although I love the sun and heat. All in all I would definitely stay here again. In the winter, you’ll find snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross-country and backcountry skiing nearby. Mission Ridge and Steven’s Pass ski areas are easily accessible as well. - "Fishing and swimming off the dock." - "We loved this lake house that offered privacy and lake access tucked away on the more natural shore of lake Chelan. The house had everything we needed and was well stocked. The only comment was that we messaged Vacasa about the coffee maker that was broken but didn't get a response or replacement which was a bummer as we are coffee drinkers - but we managed with the French Press as a back up. Look forward to coming back."

The Stehekin Cedar Cabin is located in isolated mountain community of Stehekin, Washington, in the heart of the North Cascades. Stehekin is only accessible by boat, float plane, or hiking in. The cabin is located 1.5 miles from the boat dock at Stehekin. We meet our guests there and take you and your luggage to the cabin. The car is then yours to drive for your stay. Lake Chelan, our local organic garden and Stehekin Pastry Company are all within an easy walk from the cabin.
The space
The community of Stehekin is located in the heart of the North Cascades, only accessible by boat, trail or float plane. Our community offers great food, hiking for every level of ability, fishing, horseback riding, and a beautiful lake to enjoy.
Guest access
The entire cabin is yours for your stay. There is a small lawn for the kids to play in and a propane BBQ for your use.
Other things to note
Groceries are limited in Stehekin, so it is best to bring most of the food you want to cook at the cabin with you.

True North Cabin 1 is the best of Stehekin, perfectly located for all outdoor activities & adventures. This charming cabin on the Stehekin River was built on .5/acre property in 2021. Enjoy all Stehekin has to offer from your home base at True North!
The space
A small, charming queen bed studio with fireplace, heat, and A/C. Kitchen includes microwave, refrigerator, oven/stove, and farm sink with hot water. The 3/4 bathroom includes toilet, sink, and stand-up shower. Beautiful mountain/river views from screened porch with futon, and dining table.
Across the street from the Lower Rainbow Loop Trailhead, between the historic Stehekin Pastry Company and Rainbow Falls, this location is the best in Stehekin.
The lovely one mile walk to the Falls passes Stehekin Schools. Just past the old school house and across the bridge, there is a nice trail that goes along the creek to the historic Buckner Orchard.
Stehekin is remote so come prepared with a food and beverage plan. There is not a grocery store, only a camp store at the Landing, with less than the basic expectations. The good news is that the Stehekin Pastry Company serves breakfast and lunch most days, just a 1/2 stroll away. Our family favorites are the Biscuits and Gravy and Cinnamon Rolls, but everything is amazing!
The Stehekin Valley Ranch offers an incredible dinner experience with valley bus ride. They require reservations and arrangements for bus transportation so you will want to plan that date in advance.
There is an organic garden one mile from the cabin with seasonal vegetables to complement your meals.
The property amenities are shared amongst 1 other rental on site; including river/fishing access, fire pit, large landscaped yard, hammock, lawn chairs and barbeque.
Guest access
Stehekin is a remote village located at the end of Lake Chelan. Access to the village is by boat or plane only.
The cabin is located 2.5 miles from the Landing where all transportation arrives. A vehicle is included with your stay to get to and from the cabin (proof of insurance required). The landing marina has parking for recreational boats or below is a list of transportation options.
