- "The most wonderful place in all the Isles. " - "The property is huge and many options, cabins, glamping tents, rv, and tent camping. There is a general store, the rooms come furnished with dishes, pans, glassware and flatware. There is a stove/oven, refrig, micro and coffee maker." - "Great views from the picture windows and porch of our waterfront cabin. The included bundle of firewood was a plus. The only negative was not being able to use the hot tub right upon opening time at 9:30 am which cut enjoyment of that feature down a lot. My boyfriend is a huge hot tub lover and we had to hurry to check out by 11:00am. The beds, linens and pillows were all really nice! Overall the property is just what it reports and I would likely book here again. "

Escape to the San Juan Islands in this peaceful waterfront cabin on Orcas Island’s North Shore.

It was clean, updated, and in a beautiful location where you can see the ocean through the trees. The hosts provided a lot of great information about the island. Stuga is Swedish for cottage and refers to the many summer cabins that dot Sweden's coastlines, forests and islands and serve as a holiday escape, often hosting their families for celebrations throughout the year.
The word stuga also conjures up lots of evocative feelings for Swedes. These are typically places of peace, comfort, and mysig-ness or coziness, much closer to nature than the city.

- "Perfect for overflow from The Stuga. Delightful little cottage with the sweetest window twin bed in the upstairs. Would not recommend the Little Stuga for anyone with steep stair aversions. Perfect hosts. Perfect weekend." - "The Stuga was a wonderful retreat just a short drive from downtown Orcas through Moran State Park. It's perfectly situated with views of gorgeous sunsets and natural light streaming in from each window (Which made for some fun pics!). We enjoyed the charm of the original features of the house paired with the modern touches. Overall the Stuga was a cozy home away from home for a girls weekend!"

*** This home is people friendly, and not pet friendly. Families with children under the age of 8 are not allowed. ***
Cedar Sunrise is a modern house that speaks to nature lovers with an appreciation for art and design. Created by award-winning architect Geoff Prentiss, Cedar Sunrise highlights the island’s distinct natural beauty while offering a modern, yet exceedingly comfortable, design.
Upon arrival, wind down the lighted, wooden steps to the secluded home. Open the door and absorb the warmth of the custom millwork and vaulted native fir ceilings. Appreciate the mosaic of artfully-designed windows scattered playfully throughout—each like its own picture postcard with views from every room, bringing the outside in. Enjoy the cozy, covered seating area on the large deck; which offers stunning views of the nearby sea and is the perfect place to soak up the dark, starlit San Juan night sky.
Take your perch in the Eagle’s Nest—this unique, private, loft queen bedroom boasts cathedral windows that offer the sense of being, like the birds, deep within the trees themselves, peering out to the sea. Open the room’s side windows to peek at the deer, take in the sounds of the forest and listen to the waves lapping on the pebble beach below. The main floor king bedroom is just what it needs to be—quaint, intimate and surrounded by windows and trees.
On the main floor a well-appointed cook’s kitchen awaits. Fire up the Viking range to prepare fresh clam linguini from Buck Bay Shellfish and toss a salad with island-grown produce from the Maple Rock Farm Stand. Enjoy your feast in the spacious dining room or open up the French doors to eat al fresco with a view to the water. An outdoor grill is also available.
Spend your time curled up on the couch while you relax with a book or listen to your favorite music on the Sonos sound system. Wander down the path to relax on the hammock overlooking the water and take a rejuvenating nap. Or, head upstairs to the comfy loft for TV viewing with access to DirectTV or log into one of your streaming services. And if you need to work during your stay, you can count on reliable WIFI throughout.
Cedar Sunrise invites adventure by day and cozy nights year-round. Located just 20 minutes from the ferry landing by car and a leisurely 4-mile walk or bike ride into town, the quiet home feels private and remote, yet it’s incredibly convenient. Head to the charming village of Eastsound to peruse local shops and cafes or visit the food co-op or well stocked supermarket. Foodies delight in the island’s farmsteads and farm-to-table dining options like The Inn at Ship Bay and Matia. Seafood lovers swoon at the oyster shucking and crab cracking options at Buck Bay. And no trip to Orcas is complete without a stop at Brown Bear Bakery, offering the best chocolate croissants outside of France.
Up for fresh air and exercise? Take a day trip by bicycle or car through pastoral Crow Valley to Deer Harbor. Enjoy hiking Turtleback Mountain with amazing island vistas or try Moran State Park’s Summit trail to the top of Mt. Constitution (the last mile is sure to burn off those chocolate croissants). Pack a picnic and head to Moran’s Cascade Lake for a day of swimming and paddle-boarding. Guided kayaking treks and whale watching trips are also available through local outfitters.
However you choose to spend your time, savor each day at Cedar Sunrise—where nature, art and modern design combine for an incredible memory-making experience.
PLEASE NOTE: The home offers one parking space. The distance from the parking area to front door is approx. 80 feet including a series of easy steps. The second sleeping loft and fireplaces are not currently accessible to guests. This home is not pet friendly. Also note that families with children under the age of 8 are not allowed. Also note this home has 32 steps to the entrance.
Please note: residential internet speeds, bandwidth and reliability in the San Juan Islands currently lag behind the mainland. Guests who wish to use videoconferencing, streaming services, or multiple simultaneous internet connections should be aware that performance may not meet the levels they are accustomed to. Guests may need to alter their online work and entertainment plans due to service fluctuations or outages.

- "Beautiful home with amazing views of the sound and only a 5-10 minutes from Eastsound. Great indoor and outdoor spaces to relax." - "My wife and I had a lovely stay at this gorgeous well appointed house in the beautiful setting overlooking the bay south of Eastsound. We loved watching and listening to the birds from the deck. We loved everything about this home including the kitchen, bathrooms, and unique architectural design with so many windows taking advantage of the great views. We also used this home as a place from which to explore the entire island. We enjoyed the proximity to Eastsound as well as the ability to visit Turtleback Mountain Preserve, Moran Park, and all points on the island. I highly recommend this wonderful home!"

- "We visited in the Dec. off-season and found a very comfortable, clean & airy cabin. The photos were accurate as well as the description. Great view of the Sound just 20' away. Made a good base for hikes on the island. Cabin rentals are a little pricey but the hot tub and proximity of a well-stocked resort store are 2 of the justifications."

The Osprey Nest is a fully appointed stand-alone guesthouse on 5 forested acres, (San Juan County permit PPROV0-18-0023). It is ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway and families looking for solitude, comfort and easy access to all island amenities. The Osprey Nest has water, forest, and mountain views. It has a private driveway and your only neighbors are songbirds, osprey, eagle and deer.
The space
The Osprey Nest is a two-story San Juan County permitted cabin (PPROV0-18-0023). Sunny top floor, full kitchen (stocked with spices, cookware and dinnerware for 8+), dining room, family room (with 50-inch flat screen), master (with king bed and 32-inch tv), full bath, fireplace and full-length deck (with a barbeque). You can use the dumb waiter to bring up wood for the fireplace or breeze around the solid oak spiral staircase. Downstairs are two sleeping areas, a half bath and a rec room. One with a queen and 32-inch tv and the other with a king (perfect for playing video games or watching movies on the 50-inch flat screen). The garage has been converted into a rec room with pool, ping pong, foosball, darts, gaming table, pull out couch, and 36-inch tv. Start your day with a hot cup (coffee, tea, chocolate, or cider) from the Keurig or French press and sit on the deck listening to the birds, watching eagles soar or having a stare down contest with a deer. Once motivated, feel free to browse majestic firs and cedars and set out wood for the fire pit/evening s'mores fest. Don’t leave the real world behind. Check the morning news, browse 75 cable channels or connect to the high-speed wireless to check your stocks, get a little work done or upload pictures to make your friends envious. There is a big private yard for outdoor games (bocce ball, hula hoops, football, ring toss, croque, badminton and horseshoes). Children under 2 are not counted in guest occupancy total.
Guest access
The Osprey Nest is a Cabin la solitude. As you enter the property take the left driveway. If you misstep and take the right/upper driveway you’ll run into the Eagle’s Roost (our house). Don’t worry, the two properties are separated by a wooded greenbelt and are barely visible to each other. The Osprey Nest can be accessed using the upper front, lower back or garage/rec room door keypads. Take the stairs on the right side of the house up to the deck and front door. On the first floor there is a back door into the rec room and one to the lower front bedroom.
Other things to note
There is just too much to do on the island (whaling, biking, hiking, fishing golfing, shopping, art, restaurants, wine tasting, and a brewery) or perhaps just for once “nothing”. We have placed our personal recommendations on the Airbnb website. Please treat the Nest like your home so we can keep cleaning/maintenance costs low. Suggested instructions upon departing the Nest:
•Put used bedding and towels in the bath tub.
•Put dirty dishes in dishwasher and start the cycle.
•Put all garbage into the 55 gallon receptacle in the utility room.
Thanks for visiting and for taking the extra effort to support island life sustainability.

There are games, puzzles and books, but no TV or landline. Cell phone reception is usually good at the cabin. From the living room and large deck, you can see from Mount Constitution and the Olympic range to the south, Turtleback Mountain, the water and the lights of Victoria and Sydney to the west.

There are beaches to walk, sea kayaks, mopeds and mountain bikes to rent; go on whale-watching tours, and see lots of wildlife you won’t see on the mainland.
Other things to note
With the cabin at 1200 feet, up a good, but in some places steep, mountain road; during the winter months there is a possibility of snow or ice on the road. We strongly recommend having chains just in case you need them.

Escape to the San Juan Islands in this peaceful waterfront cabin on Orcas Island’s North Shore.
With an open layout and floor-to-ceiling windows, you’ll enjoy serene views of the Salish Sea and the mountains beyond whether you’re relaxing in the living room or soaking up the sun on the wrap-around deck.
The space
Our relaxing getaway cabin features two bedrooms and a large loft, full kitchen and bath, boho-vintage touches, wood stove, electric heat, dining table for six, flat screen TV, and plenty of books and games. Outside, the large deck with BBQ is the perfect place to unwind and drink in one of our spectacular North Shore sunsets.
The two bedrooms feature queen sized beds and the high-ceilinged loft has a king sized bed. The well-stocked kitchen contains a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, microwave, electric stove/oven, blender, toaster, kettle, and all the cookware you’ll need to create that quintessential Pacific Northwest meal.
We have free high speed Wi-Fi for those wanting to do a bit of work from “home,” or if you simply want to curl up in the evening with your favorite show.
In the summer months, you’ll want to keep our binoculars on hand as bald eagles, great blue heron, seals, and otters are frequently spotted in the area. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of an orca or porpoise pod traveling through!
You’ll notice that there is an ephemeral beach in front of the house which is revealed at low tide. However, both the hillside and the rockery in front of the house can be extremely treacherous, so we don’t recommend this route. The public beach is just a two minute walk away, and offers level, easy access to a beach area with equally spectacular views.
Our family has made so many great memories in the Sunset Cabin over the years, and we’re so happy to be able to share it with you!

While we welcome children at Sunset Cabin, please keep a close eye on them. There are several hazards for little ones on the property. The cabin is perched atop a rugged hillside with no fencing. The grounds are steep and the wild vegetation can be thorny. Inside the cabin, the stairway to the loft is long and has no mid-point landing. We recommend using the baby gate provided if you have small children.

Other things to note
Stuga is Swedish for cottage and refers to the many summer cabins that dot Sweden's coastlines, forests and islands and serve as a holiday escape, often hosting their families for celebrations throughout the year.
The word Stuga also conjures up lots of evocative feelings for Swedes. These are typically places of peace, comfort, and mysig-ness or coziness, much closer to nature than the city.
We hope our Stuga provides the comfort and peacefulness you seek on Orcas Island and in our small hamlet of Olga.
Due to the time needed to adequately clean the property, we are not able to offer early check-in or late check-out. Please book an extra night if you would like to guarantee an early check- in or a late check- out.
