Location! Location! Location! Lakeside Country Cabin is located on a corner cove backing up to over 100 feet of waterfront access and views in the Cambridge Shores neighborhood. Lakeside Country Cabin is only 1 hour from Dallas and 2-1/2 hours from Oklahoma City and offers an easy departure to a quieter life. Overlooking the lake, enjoy sitting in our enclosed sunroom or under a canopy of trees while enjoying our firepit. Walk down to the dock, jump in, swim, sunbathe, or fish.
Our cabin is very eccentric with vintage furnishings. Nothing like going back in time when it is more about making memories and spending time with the ones that matter the most. Enjoy vintage decor throughout our cabin. Our cabin is approximately 1,300 sq ft and has four bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms, a kitchen, living room with TV, washer, and dryer. The cabin can sleep 6 adults and 3 children comfortably in beds. We also have pull-out couches that can accommodate more guests. The air-conditioned and heated sunroom adds 1,000 sq ft for entertaining, gathering, and watching the beautiful views of Lake Texoma. This is my favorite spot in the house and I'm sure it will be yours too!
Days at Lakeside Country Cabin can be relaxing watching the boats float by or reading a book. Enjoying the large backyard and watching the kids swim and jump off the dock is priceless. Don't forget you can fish off the dock. Do you remember catching your first fish? Plenty of room to play games in the backyard. Sit back and watch the sunset on the water! Memories are abundant!

We highly recommend you bring your boat or jet skis, as our 2nd driveway offers a 50ft trailer space. If not there's also a marina nearby to rent from!

About the space

Enjoy our spacious 4-bedroom, 2-full bath/2-half bath home. Guests are sure to love the large, modern bedrooms, bathrooms, and ample closet space. There's even a secret room hidden in one of the main bedrooms behind the blue bookcase! The cottage comfortably sleeps 10-12 people; any extra guests would overwhelm our septic system and your space. For everyone's comfort, please adhere to the maximum permitted guest count.

We encourage you to make use of our fully-equipped kitchen. Complimentary cooking basics like spices, cooking spray, and quality cooking necessities are provided to ensure you can cook delicious meals during your visit! Need to do laundry during your stay? The laundry room is fully stocked to keep your clothes clean! There is also a dedicated workspace and high speed wifi for guests who are looking to get work done while they are here. And, of course, there are plenty of games and a 55 inch ROKU TV to keep everyone entertained! Our living room has a wood burning fireplace which guests may use in the Fall and Winter months.

Driftwood Cottage is located in a quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by 300 acres of woods, and nestled next to a private cove at Lake Texoma. The beautiful sandy beach is a quick 3 minute walk from the front door. There are often few people at the beach, however it is shared with other local cottages and other people may be enjoying it as well. Our cottage has beach essentials all ready for you, including towels, an umbrella, a blanket, and snorkeling gear!

The Driftwood Cottage delivers on an amazing outdoor entertaining experience! Guests will find a grill and additional seating, great for relaxing on the porch! There is also a fire pit, perfect for making s'mores and telling stories around.

*If you plan to bring your dogs (limit of 2), we would like to know more about them in advance! While we love cats, in order to reduce allergens, we ask that cats stay home. There is a nominal pet fee.

The cabin backs up to the woods surrounding Lake Texoma (0.1 mile walk to overlook the water or 0.3 mile walk along the road or drive to the neighborhood’s direct lake access and boat ramp). We love nothing more than sharing this place and welcoming guests here to our slice of heaven!

SECURITY CAMERAS: *Please Note* There are 3 exterior security cameras to secure the property and for added safety for our guests. None face into the cabin. There is one at the end of the driveway by the bridge (it is not activated by motion on the deck due to distance and elevation), one at the front of the driveway, and a doorbell camera. Cameras actively record audio and video, but Owner notifications are turned off once guests check-in, and the cameras are not actively monitored during the stay unless there is a concern about house rules violations such as a pet or a party. Guests are not allowed to tamper with or turn cameras off. There are no indoor cameras.

ENHANCED SAFETY: Your safety is our top priority. Our cabin is equipped with advanced safety features that exceed standard requirements, including smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, natural gas detectors, a fire extinguisher and fire blanket, electrical fire safety monitor, and a ladder for the second floor.

GUEST VERIFICATION: Before you arrive you will be asked to complete guest verification and short and simple rental agreement through third-party provider Truvi. This is done for insurance purposes and to ensure we are inline with short-term rental regulations as well as providing both guests and our property with extra protection. It’s a simple, safe, and secure process. Truvi will contact you via email and/or text to complete the verification. You must complete the process prior to arriving at the property in order to check-in. Guest who do not complete this or do not pass verification will have their stay cancelled and any refund due will follow the cancellation policy.

WHERE YOU'LL BE

Lake Texoma, Pottsboro Texas, United States

Lake Texoma is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States. It is located on the Texas-Oklahoma border about 60 miles north of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Lake Texoma offers recreational opportunities including wildlife refuges, marinas, and outdoor adventures. It is a phenomenal lake for fishing, hiking, biking, and recreational boating. Power boating, sailing, personal watercraft, water skiing, and wind surfing are all popular. The lake has become a major sailing center based on its size, depth, and miles of sailing shoreline.
Lake Texoma is known as the “Striper Capital of the World”, one of the few reservoirs in the nation where striped bass reproduce naturally. There are plenty of other fish to catch including largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, white crappie, black crappie, channel catfish and blue catfish.

NEIGHBORHOOD

Our cabin is located in Cambridge Shores, the treasure south of Treasure Island and is located on the Texas side of Lake Texoma near the town of Pottsboro, Tanglewood Resort and Highport Marina. It is a friendly and quiet neighborhood, nestled in the woods. The property backs up to the Corp of Engineers wooded property surrounding Lake Texoma and is a short 5-minute walk to the lake.

Cambridge Shores has a community boat ramp (available to use for a fee, $10 cash per day) with picnic tables and ample parking (boats cannot be left at the dock or in the parking lot overnight, but there is ample parking for trailers at the cabin), Highport Marina is just a few minutes away where you can rent a pontoon boat to really explore all Lake Texoma has to offer.

GETTING THERE

If you aren’t bringing your groceries with you, we suggest you purchase them on your way to the house. The closest store is Brookshire’s, 11205 N. State Hwy 298 in Pottsboro, about an 8 minute drive. You may also want to stop at Fink Liquor at 75005 N. State Hwy 298. You will also want to grab firewood and starters to use the fire pit. We do provide roasting sticks and marshmallows.

As you drive to the neighborhood, you will notice the road get hillier. It’s definitely a wonderful experience driving through the country when headed to the lake! Look for the blue Cambridge Shores neighborhood sign to turn in. The road in the neighborhood to the house is paved but is bumpy. There is a significant elevation change from the neighborhood entrance to our cabin. If there is winter weather, 4-wheel drive vehicles often still have issues getting out of the neighborhood. As a reminder, winter weather is not covered under the cancellation refund policy. Therefore, we recommend travel insurance. There is ample parking in the driveway and the front of the house with space for 5 cars and a boat or 6 vehicles. See pictures for configuration.

CHECK OUT INSTRUCTIONS

Turn off all fans, lights, and lamps. Sign out of any streaming apps if you used your personal login.

Bag and remove all trash and place in the outdoor bin. Gather any trash in the yard.

Please take all food and drinks you have brought and ensure the refrigerator is empty. Also ensure you have all of your belongings as we are not responsible for items left behind.

Put the outdoor couch cushion back in the trunks if you used them. Ensure all amenities are organized & placed where you found them and that the storage under the deck is locked. Lock all windows and doors.

Our Cleaning Staff would be grateful if you would consider starting a load of towels in the washing machine and loading/starting the dishwasher.

Cabin 5 is a small size cabin that’s just the right size for a couple to get away to the lake or for that solo weekend to enjoy some peace and quiet. It’s cozy, minimal, and just a short distance from the shore inside Mill Creek Resort and Marina.

- "I'm not sure who this room is actually suited for - the term "cabin" is doing some heavy lifting, as it is not a standalone unit but a quarter of a trailer, and it smelled of smoke and an air freshener just adding to it to the point we had to air our room out when we arrived. I can assure you that if you were seeking the advertised "romantic lakeside getaway," you will get a third of what you paid for because the *is* a lake, although I would suspect romance is not in the cards here. The room itself is Spartan, to the point that I've actually had better lodging while deployed. This all might be easier to deal with if it were somewhat separate from other visitors. The unit would probably work for a place to crash and shower off after a day on the lake, but the price is steep for that use. The suggestion to bring firewood is in reference to a communal fireplace with your fellow cabin dwellers, who you may have been introduced to by overhearing their conversations through the walls. Sadly, we missed out on more formal introductions with Kevin and his partner, as after spending a cumulative hour in the room, we decided to cut our losses, drop the key off, and just head home."
