- "It’s a really lovely place to stay, excellent hosts and a large garden with a large pool. It was ideal for us as we took our 2 dogs. Being right on the Canal de Midi it was ideally placed for dog walks, cycling etc. The local bar is a10 minute walk away and we used it regularly. There are plenty of restaurants within a short drive. We can highly recommend and will be returning" - "We stayed for two weeks at the end of June in Olive Tree. The property was very clean and had all the equipment you need. The outside decking area is a sun trap all day long but if you need shade then the covered area is ideal. The pool and sunbathing area were very clean with plenty of sun loungers. Marseillette is a quiet village with only one bar/restaurant but there is a pizza van, burger van and curry delivery on certain days of the week. The supermarket in Capendu nearby is about a five to ten minute drive away. Other supermarkets are in Trebes which is about fifteen minutes by car. You can drive to Carcassone centre within twenty five minutes and there are even larger supermarkets nearby. Overall, we had a lovely stay and Adrian and Ann-Marie were very good hosts who both suggested places of interest and were available if needed. We would recommend the gite to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay with lovely walks on your doorstep up and down the Canal du Midi."

- "Lovely stay with another family who were in la Source next door. Short break was definitely "too short" Will be coming back for sure!" - "Domaine de Cure is everything I thought it would be and much much more ! We were looking for a restful place to stay with lots to do on the doorstep should we wish to explore. We arrived late in the day to a lovely welcome from Jean Noel and Agathe .La Forge is beautifully maintained and immaculately clean. Inside it is well laid out and spacious with everything you need on a day to day basis. We spent our days lazing by the pool, soaking in the views, cycling along the Canal du Midi , visiting the old town of Carcassonne and walking through the fields and vineyards to the local village. Our daughter is studying French at school and it was a perfect place to practise speaking in French. A hire car is advisable in order to visit all the lovely villages in this part of France. There is a large supermarket approx 10 minutes drive away and some small shops where you can buy newspapers / bread etc in the village. Jean Noel and Agathe are so friendly and helpful - nothing was ever too much trouble . We loved our stay so much that we immediately booked again for next year. We are so looking forward to returning to this very beautiful corner of France - made all the more special by our wonderful hosts."

The Cottage is located in the village of Pennautier which is found 5 minutes drive North of beautiful Carcassonne. Pennautier has been known as such since 1781, however its history wends it's way back through the Middle Ages and Roman Occupation into pre-history.

The Cathar Cottage is an attached village house on 3 floors. The ground floor consists of the entrance, kitchen and dining area, along with a full bathroom. The first floor comprises the Master Bedroom, Sitting Room, Terrace and second toilet. The second bedroom is contained on the second floor - please note there are fairly steep steps to the second floor which would not be suitable for older persons or very young children. The Cottage has free Wi-Fi.

Pennautier has all the basic services within walking distance, including a newsagent, grocery store, bakeries, butcher, cafe, pizza restaurant, pharmacy, and doctor. The Chateau de Pennautier is on the edge of the village (2 min walk from the Cottage) and dates back to 1620 - a wonderful place to engage in a bit of 'wine tourism'!. Parking is available within meters of the house.

- "Spacious and clean space. We felt very relaxed and comfortable. The property is well stocked with the little things one needs at a pinch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and absolutely would recommend it to others." - "clean comfortable accommodation in good location with excellent hosts" - "I stayed at Cathar Cottage with my wife and children, aged 7 and 4, for a week at the end of August. This is a wonderful traditional French house, and the photos on the site do not do it justice. Pennautier is a lovely French village with a butcher, 2 boulangeries, a mini market, a tabac and one bar. We loved going to the boulangerie every morning and for a drink at the bar in the evening. Everyone we met in the village was very friendly, and always fussed over the kids which was really nice. Be prepared to speak French in the village, as many people don't speak english! Again, we saw this as a plus as our son has just started French at school. The village is 10 minutes from Carcassonne and a great base for exploring the region. My one piece of advice is do not take your vehicle down the Rue Victor Hugo to the front of the house. The street is horrifically narrow at the bottom and we scratched our wing mirror on the hire car. Park at the top or bottom of the street in the parking bays on the main road - we never had a problem getting parked and it is a short walk to the house. While we were there a light broke for the bathroom which I reported one morning. We went out for the day and when we returned it had been fixed which was fantastic. We had a fantastic experience at Cathar Cottage, a real feeling of being in real France, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it"

- "A lovely, very nice and homely, well maintained and very clean property . The owners have been very imaginative with the superb décor. It was well supplied with towels & utensils. The TV could only get French channels though there was a button that would give the original language so we watched some in English. We found the air conditioning a little inadequate as it was 30 degrees +. One of the owners, Etienne, was most helpful, as was Silvette the neighbour Supermarkets and fuel were not far away in the neighbouring town. The property is well situated for reaching many places including the coast and Spanish border, though of course there's lots to visit nearer at hand. Capendu is a nice village with a patisserie, Post Office, local wines and a really good restaurant, within walking distance, at Le Top Hotel which we went to twice. This hotel also has free Wifi. We've lived next to churches since 1987 so were amused to be next door to the one in Capendu! We found the church bell difficult to start with. It would be helpful to have an information folder about the house and the area. We would recommend this property to family and friends mentioning the church bell and the air conditioning."

The holiday home is located in the countryside on a family estate. It is on the banks of the Canal du Midi. This holiday home is the only one in a farmhouse within a stable of owners of around thirty sport horses.

The house is situated in the village of Caunes-Minervois, at the foot of the Montagne Noire. The city is built around its Benedictine abbey. Its ancient alleyways are particularly interesting and the nature that surrounds it (vines, scrublands, olive groves, forests) will delight hikers. All shops and services are represented. Near the Mediterranean, its microclimate is favorable to the development of its famous AOC Minervois. The house is next to my pottery studio, tastefully restored using traditional materials. It has all the comforts and facilities of a modern house. Sylvie was very helpful at every stage of our booking, and with our poor French skills it was great that her English was so good" - "It was a disappointing stay for several reasons: Dirty cutlery and crockery upon arrival. No chopping board until we asked for one. No pans/trays for use in the oven. Very dirty sun loungers and outdoor chairs which were clearly not cleaned before our arrival and looked like they hadn’t been used for a long time. We heard nothing about the events hosted at the venue until arrival when we were told there was a DJ Thursday evening and a Latin dance evening on Friday evening. We assumed that these would both be finished at a reasonable time in the evening. But both events went on well past 1am with incredibly loud music. To make matters worse the speakers were moved between the Thursday to Friday event so that they were immediately the other side of our bedroom wall. The bass was shaking the entire room. This ruined our holiday as we were unable to get to sleep until after the music ended. We would never recommend staying here because you’re lied to from the property description, you get no sleep Thurs/Fri and the managing of the property is an after thought"

This cottage has been designed with comfort in mind and to make the most of the stunning views and local habitat.

Consisting of a high-end modern kitchen with a floating glass Juliet balcony looking over the Garrigue valley. Leading onto a comfortable lounge/dining room. There is also direct access onto the covered terrace with sun loungers, hot tub (available all year) and private swimming pool.

Upstairs there is an elegant master bedroom, a separate dressing room/study and a luxurious modern bathroom, where you can enjoy views of the black mountains.

The cottage is cosy in the winter and cool during the summer due to its underfloor heating and cooling system.

There is also a designated parking space.

There are hundreds of walks to enjoy right from the doorstep as well as over 400k of mountain bike tracks and tennis courts within a few minutes walk. If you love combining nature with sport this is the perfect location for you. If you would like to explore the area in a more gentle way you could always hire an electric bike at Colin Bike located in the village.

This area is also a dog walker's paradise so we can accept well-behaved pooches as long as they stay on the ground floor during your stay. This is at our discretion, please enquire before booking.

The location offers the perfect combination of town and country, as Carcassonne, La Cite, and Carcassonne airport are all within a short fifteen minutes drive. If you don’t want to venture out during your stay you can head down to the local village shop, where you can also enjoy having a drink next to a trickling brook or buy a fresh baguette and your favourite bottle of local wine.

Colin Bike and Tapas Bar also hosts live events outside most weekends during summer and is a lovely place to enjoy tapas and a glass of wine whilst taking in the breathtaking views of Aragon and beyond.

If you fancy enjoying a gastronomic meal in the village during your stay then we would highly recommend a trip to La Bergerie, a top-rated restaurant run by Chef Fabien Galibert, renowned for his Michelin stars who delights the taste buds with his cuisine.

There are plenty of board games and books to enjoy in the cottage. If you are looking for a place to completely unwind this is the place for you. We cannot promise the fastest WIFI connection but we can promise that this is one of the most peaceful places to stay in the South of France.

It is relaxing and tranquil here in Carcassonne and there is plenty to do and to see: Carcassonne Castle, the exquisite French restaurants, the Canal du Midi and the annual music festivals.

Carcassonne is both beautiful in Summer and Winter. Christmas is magical and the town hosts a number of festivals and entertainment such as live music to add to the Christmas atmosphere.

The local shops are 10 minutes walk from the property and the Castle is 20 minutes over the ancient bridges.

- "This cottage is a gem!! The property is very well kept, clean and comfortable. It is very spacious with lots of room for being together, as well as spaces to get away by oneself. There is a wonderful balcony off the sitting room that is shady with a comfortable outdoor sofa and chairs to enjoy, which we did. The owner has added many personal touches to add to your comfort--extremely comfortable seating in the sitting room; bed and bathroom linens very large and of good quality. It was VERY hot during our first few days in Carcassonne, and the air conditioner did an amazing job of cooling the entire cottage. The cottage is located on a road linking you to major roads out of town, if you drive to Carcassonne, and there is very convenient parking along side the cottage or across the road. Night noise from passing traffic very minimal. We slept well. Just a wonderful experience staying here."

The gite adjoins our house and is situated in a green setting at the foot of the Montagne Noire, just outside a pretty Cathar village. In addition to a large landscaped garden, there is a secure parking space. This 35m2 gîte comprises a lounge, kitchen, shower room and bedroom. The flat has its own entrance leading onto a covered terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue. The gîte stays cool in summer thanks to the vegetation.
