This lovely, well-proportioned, two bedroomed, renovated gate-house is tucked into the trees in the grounds of a beautiful ‘belle-épôque’ villa on the Côte de Grâce.

The grounds are secluded, and there are swings amongst the trees. You can take long walks on quiet country lanes. You are minutes from the lively centre of Honfleur which you can reach by 10 minutes on foot downhill but takes slightly longer to walk uphill.

There are two food markets a week in Honfleur, and you can prepare fresh food in the well-appointed kitchen. However, there are 140 cafés, bistros, and restaurants in the town - you might revise the self-catering plans. The museums are well worth a visit and the beautifully landscaped park adjoining the Seine estuary has many amenities including many for children.

Nearby is a lovely sandy beach for long walks. A short drive away is Deauville, an hour away are the Normandy Landings beaches, Bayeux, and Monet’s garden at Giverny.

The house is located away from nearby small roads, after a tarred road without end, and entent no traffic noise, allowing to enjoy the sounds of nature. It is likely that you will be woken in the morning by the sound of birds. The major advantage of our cottage is the quality of the immediate environment, with a view of a valley planted with apple trees.

The cottage was built in a typical old press Normand, built in timbered and flint. It features a large room to the ground floor with an open kitchen to the living room and a cathedral ceiling. A large fireplace allows for wood fires for fun in all seasons. A ground floor still, a bedroom with a queen bed, and a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet suspended. The living room is south-facing and opens up onto a sunny terrace all day and overlooking a small orchard and meadows.
Upstairs, a large bedroom (20 m2) has a double bed and a single bed and also a private bathroom with toilet, the same as the bottom. In total, the cottage can easily accommodate 5 people in two bedrooms. We have two other cottages on the same property, an independent cottage of 65 M2, ideal for 4 or 5, and another building, with 110 M2 comfortable up to 8 people. - "We stayed at Le petit pressoir and had a lovely relaxing break. The house was very suitable for us being two couples as it had two double bedrooms-one upstairs with en suite bathroom and one downstairs with a separate bathroom. As the evenings were becoming cooler we had ample wood and lit an open fire. The property is a mass of beams, stone floors, exposed brickwork with a private garden. It has everything you need for a very pleasant stay in the heart of the Normandy countryside. It was hard to find though being situated on a no through road between Gites de Canet and a White House with white fencing if that helps future visitors."

The cottage has been converted into an old typical Normandy wine press, built in half-timbering and flint. It includes at the ground floor a large room with an open kitchen to the living room. A ground floor always, a room of 18m2 making 4th extra bedroom with a click / clack, day and overlooks a small orchard and meadows.
Upstairs, a large bedroom (about 20 m2) has a double bed and a small bed, and also a private bathroom with toilet. In total, the cottage can easily accommodate 7 people in three bedrooms, and 9 people with the sofa of the living room. A deposit of 300 euros may be required, it will be returned after your departure with deduction in case of damage caused during your stay ...

- "We booked in July looking for a property near the centre of Honfleur with free parking nearby. I would happily have paid the full amount up front but there seemed to be no way to do so and we were advised that the full payment had to be made by 4 August. On the morning of 4 August I had still not heard from anyone and had to contact the host directly to find out how to. It is very difficult to stop immediately outside the property so I rapidly left my wife outside with all our luggage and headed to the 'free parking 150 metres away' only to find it required hefty payment. Eventually we did find a free car park nearly a kilometer away which we used for the rest of the week. It is disappointing that we were not informed that the nearby car park was no longer free and had not been for several months as it was prominently mentioned in the advertising. The property itself was ideally located and Honfleur delightful. The bedroom and bathroom beautifully presented, the downstairs lounge a bit shabby and could easily be improved, the kitchen pretty good (no microwave) but a little short on equipment. La Petite Chaumière is ideally located 3 km from Honfleur, close to all that is famous for this region of Normandy. Honfleur and its old port, Deauville, Trouville and its beaches, the surrounding countryside, gastronomy etc. The house is located in the heart of a property of 4 hectares, largely composed of a hilly meadow occupied by our two horses. Kids usually love to meet them with some apples or carrots to make friends. The house is located away from the small roads nearby, at the end of a tarmac road without exit, and there is no traffic noise, which allows you to enjoy the sounds of nature. It is likely that you will be awakened in the morning by the birds singing. The main advantage of our cottage is the quality of the immediate environment, with the view of an orchard and a meadow or it is not uncommon to see some deer early morning or evening at sunset .
We have two other cottages on the same property, which you can easily find by doing the search "legrandpressoir".

La Bergerie is a former flint and brick croft which has been lovingly transformed into an independent gîte de charme with a wonderful view of Honfleur old town, the ‘pont de Normandie’ and the Seine estuary.
The housedates back to the 17th and 18th centuries. It was also part of Lucie Delarue Mardrus’s property called Le Pavillon de la Reine which was built for Marie-Antoinette 2 years before the French revolution.. Honfleur was Lucie Delarue Mardrus’ hometown. She was a writer and a poet and married Doctor Mardrus who was one of the major translators of 1001 Nightsinto French.
The house has been rebuilt by local craftsmen in 2012 and most of its original features have been kept. The presence of bricks and stone and the timber frame is characteristic of regional houses in Normandy. It used to be a rural building and we wanted to keep the main features. We added to it a large glass veranda that allows you to enjoy the garden and the view in any weather.
La Bergerie shares the entrance gate with La Ferme, but each house is well separated from the other and each has its own outdoor space which respects privacy.
The house is laid out on 2 levels. On the ground floor, the space is divided between the kitchen, the dining area, a winter lounge in front of the wood burning stove, a TV sitting area and last but not least the lounge in the veranda.
On the first floor, the 2 bedrooms and a shared toilet.
Each bedroom has its own bathroom in the room itself. A bath and a sink. In the master bedroom, you have a bubble bath and in the second bedroom, it's a classic bath.
Both bedrooms has excellent quality mattresses. In the master bedroom, you have a double bed and in the second bedroom, it's either 2 single beds or a King size double bed, depending on your need. There's also a cot in the second bedroom but we provide a travel cot if you need it to be in the master bedroom. You can also use a high chair and I can lend you a push chair (Maclaren) with additional charges.
Bed linen and towels are provided as well as shower gel and soap.
The house has an Internet connection and WiFi.
There is a large screen and a home-cinema system, with two controls - one to switch the TV on and change channels and the second for the DVD player. You need to press ‘source’ on the TV remote and choose HDMI 1 to watch TV. You will have access mostly to French channels.
Cooker
Operation of the cooker is self-explanatory, Please note that the surfaces should not be cleaned with abrasive products. Please clean it with the appropriate cleaning material provided which you can find under the kitchen sink.
Washer-drier
You will find instructions in the sideboard. An iron, ironing board and clothes horse are in the cupboard in the kitchen.
You are welcome to use the stove. You can use it as an alternative to the underfloor heating. We will provide logs for a modest additional charge. Please use only the wood provided. When the stove is operating, the handling facilities and door handle may be very hot. To avoid burns, use the «oven glove» supplied to manipulate them and use the guards in presence of young children as the door glass gets very hot.
La Bergerie is located in about 3 acres of grounds, shared with La Ferme. There is plenty of space for children to play but please respect your neighbours’ privacy.
We have 2 lovely goats on the property. They are very sociable and friendly, their names are Blanchette and Noisette, it is OK to feed them with vegetables or stale bread but always keep young children’s fingers away from the fence. If you do enter the paddock with a member of the team or with permission from one of them please bear in mind that the goats’ horns are at about eye height for a child. Please take care.
Please note that opening the goats enclosure is not allowed as these lovely animals tend to escape very quickly!!
Smoking is not allowed on any part of the property. The owners are non-smokers, as are all other guests of La Ferme and La Bergerie.
Pets are allowed with the prior agreement of the owner. They are not allowed on the furniture. Please ensure your pet does not soil the lawn or any part of the garden, damage any plants or scare the goats. Please remember that families with children use this property.

La Ferme is a typical Norman farmhouse just 10 minutes' walk from old Honfleur and the port via a small, quiet street. It is located on the property of the Queen's Pavilion, home of Lucie Delarue-Mardrus, Honfleur poet married to Doctor Mardrus, translator of the 1001 Nights in the 1920s.
Built in the 17th and 18th centuries, this old farmhouse has been transformed into a spacious gîte that can accommodate 10 people.
Friendly and warm house, it is ideal for hosting two families or a group of friends. The house is on 3 levels. You will share the living rooms on the ground floor: fully-equipped kitchen (Smeg cooking piano, 5 induction hobs, Smeg retro fridge) and a large living space consisting of a large living-dining room with its fireplace open, its large table for 10-12 people and a small living room with TV / DVD player and a wood stove, a utility room where you will find a drying washing machine, ironing board, drying rack, a large bathroom with its walk-in shower and toilet.
You can also retire to your respective apartments located in two separate parts on the second and third floors. You have a total of 5 bedrooms including a children's room, 3 bathrooms, distributed as follows:

Our lovely holiday cottage is very typical of the traditional architectural style of the Calvados area of Normandy. It is located in a valley with far reaching rural views. The cottage is suitable for people that love the countryside, we hear the sounds of song birds, buzzards and owls we have seen red squirrels, salamanders, dormouse, pine martin to name a few. We have a long garden with a source at the end. In the summertime we treat the terrace like another room for breakfast, aperitifs, barbecues and star gazing.The cottage is quiet ancient and authentic with log fires.


The Kitchen has an electric hob and oven, fridge and dishwasher there are open beams through to the dining area and on to a huge log fire. Windows on each side with views of the garden and terrace. The sitting room has a log wood burning stove, there are views on all sides over the valley and on to the garden. For your entertainment there are books and games, no TV just screen for dvds and games,and stereo. Bedroom 1 has open beams, large mirror, and an antique French double bed with views on to the garden. Bedroom 2 has a double bed, a washbasin and a stable door to the garden Bedroom 3 is suitable for children; leading from bedroom 1 it has 2 single beds with a view on to the garden. There are wooden beams with replica ships for decoration.

The stairs are steep... Not suitable for the elderly or infirm however my 82 year old mum manages well.

The area is quiet and peaceful yet a short drive from historic Honfleur harbour (approx 4 miles) approx 20 minutes from the beautiful long beaches of both Trouville and Deauville with its famous planches that stretch the length of the beach. We are less than an hour from the Normandy Landing Beaches. Paris is 2 hours. There are plenty of typical French antique shops and restaurants in the little villages around (Cormeilles, Blangy, Pont l'Evêque, Beaumont en Auge...), several golf courses (Saint Gatien, Saint Julien, Deauville...). There are also lots of places to ride horses, there are a number of stables to choose from, who organise treks through the forests or on the beach in Deauville.

Honfleur sits on the estuary of the River Seine at the gateway to the Pays d'auge and the & Côte Fleurie it is one of the most picturesque old fishing ports in France. Writers and artists have for long been fascinated by Honfleur. Its light and ambience made it a favourite with Corot, Boudin and many other Impressionist painters. Honfleur is brimming with history, begin at the Cote de Grace, Eglise Saint Catherine, Boudin Musée….. Not forgetting the wonderful market on Saturday morning of local products. Or you might go Horse riding on the beach. Play Golf. Play Tennis. Cycling through the countryside. Gokarting. Horse racing in Deauville. Sailing… swimming in the sea or swimming pool (Olympic size in Trouville) Shopping!
